I'd like to say, "That can't be true." But, you know. Fucking Republicans.

Because the alternative is any more deserving of jail? Bobby Franklin of Georgia has said all gay people are drug dealers, wants to do away with drivers licenses, wants to make it policy to imply all rape victims are liars, and has quickly risen in the ranks of batshittery and made a name for himself in a short amount of time. When a reporter asked him his age, he accused the reporter of trying to steal his identity. He wants to return to an all-metal monetary system. He says the U.S. has secretly gone communist, opposed a ban on dog fighting because Jesus wouldn't have supported it, and wants to ban property taxes. Hysterically pro-life, he has cited "my body, my rights" when opposing vaccinations. That you don't think he is actually capable of something that insane is kinda silly compared to all the insane things he has already said/done.

Have only heard his name once or twice and it was never as someone to be followed. You make the case here why he should not be making decisions. I'm not going to disagree with that but he shouldn't be given credit for leadership status he doesn't have. It is interesting how the Lefties claim he is some sort of leading Conservative when he is actually anything but. I googled through several pages and found not a single defense of him by anyone other than himself..

People certainly voted for him or he wouldn't be a state representative. And the point was that you think only the "loony left" would assume someone could be that crazy when the guy is in fact that crazy and was elected by the loony right anyways.

No, once again you twist words. I said only the loony Left would consider him to be speaking for Conservatives in general, which he clearly is not. He is of little value to anyone except someone like yourself who tries to connect him to the larger Conservative movement. Being elected a State Rep in GA hardly makes him a spokesman for Conservatives in general. My state has its share of clowns who were elected as well by the Left.

I didn't see anyone calling him a conservative leader.

It's pretty damn silly to say something like this when anyone can easily scroll up and see what you actually said. Here let me refresh your memory: "Only the loony Left could think people want to imprison women who suffer an unintended miscarriage. ".

It makes him a representative of conservatives in georgia since that is exactly what his job title is.

The guy does not speak for Conservatives in general and if the people in GA were dumb enough to elect him, they got what they deserved. And I'm thinking we can't consider them too bright since they did elect Carter governor many years ago. Maybe the embarrassment he caused them led them to elect anyone not of the same party.

Anyways, the attempt was made to present this guy as representative of pro-lifers, which he certainly is not. The OP did say "these people" not "this person".

I am thankful I am in a state where most of our Republicans are sane and the ones that aren't rarely get elected.

me too! I am also lucky to live in a fairly conservative area. I got so worked up when custies in Austin would go on about their leftist theories. I just had to sit there and listen, and agree and be giggly and nice, otherwise they wouldn't buy a dance.

Unfortunately, I live in the leftest of cities in one of the leftest of states and graduated from one of the leftest of universities in the country and work in a field populated by leftists. Our senators, US Reps, and governor are as far left of normal as the clown mentioned in this thread is right of normal.

In Cook County there are so many far left politicians. Even though nationally I vote Democratic generally in state politicians I sometimes vote for the sane Republican versus the spendaholic liberal Democrat. I'm glad I moved out of Cook County years ago because of them.

RI would give them a run for their money as far as both extremism and stupidity are concerned. This state would be the utopian place to live for some of the people I debate here on SW. Three of our four people in Washington and the governor are liberal nitwits to the nth degree. The state is about to go under and all they're worried about is gay marriage, legalizing weed, tossing e-verify, and expanding gambling, all the while raising taxes. Guess what embarrassing national figure supported all of them?

If you're so unhappy with RI, why don't you move to a conservative state that shares your values, like Texas or Mississippi? See how much money you make as a public employee there.

    Back to the original article....

All stupidity of trying to make miscarriages illegal aside, it sounds like the decision of whether the miscarriage was legal or not would be decided by an investigation...

Now, while I absolutely support the right to abort (100%!) I can understand how someone who does not support aborting would not support induced-miscarriages because, as was pointed out, these are abortions. (po-tay-to, po-tah-to) So if you were fighting to make abortion illegal, you would include induced miscarriages. I wouldn't support it, but I could understand the logic. Fine.

BUT. Can you imagine if you miscarried (not induced, naturally). This is a horrible situation to be in, trust me. You start wondering if there is something wrong with you. Will you ever be able to carry a child? Was it something you did? You wonder about the child you lost, and that future. If you were planning on keeping the child, you feel grief. Now imagine going through all of that, while an "investigative team" comes and interrogates you, total strangers poking around your business while you are physically and emotionally recovering. Given the attitude of many pro-life types, they would probably be trying to suggest that you killed your baby.

Ugh. ugh ugh ugh. I can only imagine how horrific that would be...

I doubt the nitwit referenced in the article has much support from pro-lifers. He seems to just be a nut who happens to also be pro-life. I also doubt that every miscarriage would be subject to an investigation or if that would even have been a possibility.

Btw, I think "induced miscarriages" are abortions. Miscarriages are called spontaneous abortions which I never liked either. I think though using miscarriages by calling them abortions is pretty cruel because I know a few people who had miscarriages with very wanted children, including my brother and sister in law.

He says women must prove there was no involvement by another human in the miscarriage, or else she faces death or life imprisonment.

I say, if he wants to accuse them of murder, then he better be proving it instead of asking for proof that they didn't do it.

Yup. In this country, you are innocent until proven guilty. This moron seems to be forgetting that.
