    Default Home Work Out Routine

Now I'm back at college full time I've cut back my hours at work and as a result have had to cut back on luxuries. One of my major expenses has been a personal trainer, whom I love, but can no longer justify seeing. I'd like to start working out at home but have no idea where to start. Motivation is not my strong point, hence relying on a PT to whip me into shape.

I'm aiming to loose 3 kilograms (about 6 pounds) and tone things up. I've got a yoga mat, 75 cm exercise ball and a number of hand weights. I have about 30 minutes spare each morning to dedicate to exercise. I eat very well but could always use more suggestions for healthy and filling snacks... I can't seem to keep my head out of the fridge when I'm studying!

If anyone knows of a routine or some moves that would be suitable for me I'd love to hear from you

Find a yoga book and self train, learn or do 10 minutes or so of just freestyle stretching to loosen up.There are usually television programs on in the morning featuring yoga so you could try that. Check the paper/internet for free group outdoor yoga, tai chi, classes in your area. They are usually at parks/scenic locations in the nicer weather months. I found a tai chi class at a beautiful location in the middle of farm country so you just never know.

As for munching while reading, try sunflower seeds without salt. Granola or fruit and nut bars, without chocolate, are good. Some of the ones with chocolate has just as many calories as a candy bar. Rice will always fill you up and keep you full if you eat the non processed(not minute) kind and adding vegetables can make it more tasty. Butter is evil and olive oil is your new friend. At worst, margarine or one of those fake butter spreads is better even though nothing tastes as good as butter.

As for routine jumping jacks and jump ropes are still golden. They tone and help more than you would think. I'm just starting to get back into shape again because last month I was a pig and my jeans fit that way. Hope it helps.
Thank Goodness I smartened up! The old me is dead and gone.

Thanks! I just hired a yoga DVD from the local library, going to give it a go tomorrow morning.

I think I'll incorporate a little cardio into my routine too (skipping, jogging) and I'll report back in a few weeks with my results!

I do this and love it: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTAwMTkyNjAw.html

it's the New York City Ballet Workout. You don't need any equipment other than your yoga mat. You will need a sense of humour because at first, before you get used to it, you're kind of flailing around. BUT. It works your WHOLE body just by using your body. It doesn't get old or boring and you see and feel results FAST. I recommend it to everyone. Hope you try it and that it works for you
