Default Recently got my nails done... questions

So last Thursday my boyfriend paid for me to go get my nails done (he's so nice!). This was pretty much my first time ever getting my nails done, save once when I was like 12, so I'm really clueless about this whole process and I have a couple questions...

Anyway, I got the gel kind with french tips. I like how they turned out, but I noticed the white on the tips started chipping pretty much the same day. It's not a huge deal to touch them up myself, but someone told me that they aren't supposed to chip so soon.

Also there is now a pretty significant gap between my cuticle and where the fake nail starts. I know that you have to go get them filled in periodically and everything, but I thought it was like every other week or something, and it hasn't even been a week yet.

Basically, I just want to know is all this just normal or did they do a shitty job?

I have to get my nails filled every week because they grow so fast... so if your nails typically grow fairly fast... that could be all it is.

No, they shouldn't chip the same day. Gel tends to be a bit softer than acrylic imo... and getting used to them can cause more bumping/scraping than usual... but I've never had nails start chipping the first day.

I get mine done every two weeks.. No, chipping is not cool on the same day.. UNLESS you are abusing them, like doing housework or dishes like crazy. And there should be little to no gap the first few days.
This has only happened to me when the person did a shitty job. And that means it is a REALLY shitty job! I would go back and explain to have them retouched or even redone.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

No hun they did a shitty job, refills shouldn't have to be done before the week mark and that's if you have fast growing nails. And are you sure you got gel nails? Those sound like solar nails or a rip off if there chipping. There was a place in my town claiming gel nails, all it was were acrylic with an extra coat of uv gel lol. Besides if your danceing acrylic is the way to go because if they break its a clean break and you can fix it yourself quickly or the salon can. Gel nails, when broke, shatter and are a pain in the ass to remove yourself. I use to be into this japanese style called gyaru (funny the oni gyaru looked like strippers to me lol) and there was always debates on acrylic or gel.
