Default Dangerous to work in Toronto?????

Ok so I am filling out an application to go to a summer academic bridging located in dt Toronto, which will cost me a lot of money...So Ive had a HORRIBLE experience where I was taken out to Toronto and pimped out AGAINST MY WILL ( dancing not prostitutin, thank god) And worked (it was more in mississaua area) for him there.. but from what I hear but Im hopin it was BS fed to me, its extremely dangerous to strip in toronto especially if you dont have a pimp.. now I dont believe that stupid bs of pimp protection but part of me needs to be reassured that if i work in the GTA I wont be kidnapped/killed for working without a pimp or anything of the sort... And is there money to be made there?? what are some good clubs outside dt toronoto that would be good? ANy tips or help would be much appreciated, I am so stressed about this and bein able to afford school its not even funny!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a lot!!

Uhhhhh, yes, you can work in toronto without a pimp
it is grosser than other areas I've worked in in the country, and from what I've heard its one of the worst areas for extras, but its definitely doable, and yes, you can still make money...did the lady at the liscensing office tell you this story? Because she told me a similar one, and I was like...ok, thanks for the info, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways...

You need a liscense to dance in toronto...$400 all together, if you don't have you and you're new/don't have the $ for a liscense, you're going to have to start in missisauga, but save up the $ fast because I've heard missisauga is worse to dance in than toronto centre :S

    Thank you girls!

I can't believe a girl at the licensing office would say that what the FUCK?!?!! So unprofessional!!
When I did work I actually worked in Missisauga because I didnt have a license over at Cannonball and I witnessed a few extras.. but alll in all I made about 500-700$ a day, but they made me work from like 1pm-close.. Is the license something I have to renew every year from 400$ or how would that work?? is there places that are better for money with less extras :S and any tips on staying safe??

the liscense is $350 for the first one, then $250 to renew every year, for the initial liscense you need to pass a criminal record check, which is $50, I don't think that has to be done every year but don't quote me on that one. Cleaner/better $$ clubs are "supposed" to be Brass Rail and For Your Eyes Only. This is based on what I've heard though, I've been taking a break and haven't checked out those clubs yet, if you do, make sure to tell us how you like them! I did work at Filmores and it was pretty clean, also I think pretty damn hard for girls to get away with extras since the walls separating booths are only half walls and everyone can see what you're doing. But the few nights I worked there there was SO many girls, like, the place was OVERFLOWING with girls, too many imo, I never really made anything exceptional there. House of Lancaster was diiiiiiirrrrtttyyy. SO many customers asking for extras/trying to break the rules in VIP, and lots of girls that let them. Seriously if you want to work there, you have to have super ninja skills! That being said, I still managed to make pretty good money there, it was just more of a headache than usual.

Oh safety: well...cab home afterwards, obviously. Most clubs will have cabs waiting outside at the end of the night, if not, call one in advance and make sure you stay inside the club while you wait for it. Carry your things in a discreet bag to and from work if you don't have a locker and wear normal clothes that you can change into after work so you don't attract unwanted attention from drunk crazies in the middle of the night. Keep your phone in hand, or in a pocket, and your money, inside a little purse in a bigger purse in a bigger bag, can't be too careful with your earnings! If you drive, please, please, please get someone to walk you to your car at the end of the night, the parking lot is probably the most dangerous place to be after work.

Ladies, I work in the GTA and there is nothing to be afraid of. Keep conversations with other dancers at a minimum, and don't waste your time with men who talk BS about how you can make $$$ with them. Stay the fuck away from such individuals.

That said there is not a whole lot of money to be made in the GTA as a clean dancer. Its very cutthroat. Customers expect extras. If you are cool with making $100-200 a night and hustling hard then go for it.

I don't work as much as I used to. Right now I work a normal desk job to pay my bills.

I got my license and worked at a bunch of places in Toronto. I worked there for about 5 months before I couldn't take it any more and started on the road. There are girls who are clean and who make money but most guys in Toronto expect that you will let them do whatever they want for the same price since many girls let them.

I think that this statement is the biggest indicator of Toronto stripping: after spending the 400$ to get my license I worked there for 5 months and can't even TYPE, let alone say, "I'm going to go to work in Toronto tonight". I would much rather travel for a few days which is waaaaaay more of a hassle. At least it doesn't make me want to throw up in my mouth...

If you're naive enough to believe BS from a pimp telling you the GTA is dangerous, you'll get kidnapped, etc, etc then I don't think you're tough enough to work here in Toronto, sorry.

Filmores is dirty. FYEO is dirty too.

The only clean place is Brass Rail, and it's hard to get hired, but there's less extras there.

You won't get kidnapped on your way to your car. WTF is up with that? Never heard of such a thing.

You HAVE to know how to hustle. Well. Or you won't make much.

I agree with this statement 100%.

The $400 licensing fee is also stupid. you have to renew on your birthday. The clubs out in the burbs are hit and miss for the most part.

I am usually out at the Royal in Whitby. It is clean, but hard place to work in. The DJ can see everything going on in the VIP because of the mirrors. I think there is some "tipping" going on though as I have seen girls do dirty things in the VIP and get away with it. Yet some girls get yelled at for "grinding"! As well the hiring standards can be hit and miss there too...I got told I was too fat to work there by one DJ!

You can think I am not tough enough to work in Toronto or not, you have the right to your opinion, but regardless of whether I actually am or not I will undoubtedly have to dance to pay for my course.
Its not so much that I believed him, I am pretty much convinced that it is bs intended to keep me scared/working for him,but more so that it doesnt take any effort from me to ask the forum on their personal thoughts and get some extra insight, it can never hurt and anything I know to be safer is smart, IMO.

Thanks for all your helpful replies

^Hmm.....Maybe try Zanzibar then? Essp. if you're going to school at Ryerson, UT, or George Brown - it's close to all those schools, and they're known for hiring younger women. Also, I've heard girls say that (weirdly enough) Sunday is a good money day at Zanzibar, and if you're in classes all week then Sunday would be a good work-day option for ya.

I've been hit up by pimps at more than one Toronto club, so get used to shooting them down. It doesn't happen every night, but once in a blue moon it will.

    Good luck!

I've found that the best way to deal with it is to tell them that you already have "a man".

This is EXACTLY why I'm heading back to my hometown for summer. Best advice? Dance in toronto to pay for your course, yes, if you need to come back for another year/at some other point, work ELSEWHERE, and save enough for your expenses before you get here. See, I don't know if you've noticed but there's already conflicting opinions on the clubs, and that's normal, one girl will have a good experience and another will have a terrible one. I've heard the competition at brass rail is ridiculous, but I've also heard its one of the better places like another girl said, I still think it would be up there mainly because of location. Just get your liscense and start at a club, any club, if you don't like it, NEXT! Next, next, next, until you find one that you like/can put up with for a few months. On the $$$ front, don't be too discouraged yet, like I said, you can make cash here in toronto, clean, but you have to be on your game and the prominent extras make it really inconsistent $$$ imo, really high nights and then really low nights back to back. Frustrating, but it does train you to save your money and not blow it all after a good night cause tomorow you might make nothing!
