    Default Stripping Tattoo Artists

I know that some of your girls are piercers as well as strippers (me too!) and I think that it is awesome to know that I am not the only one with that particular crossover. As some of you know, I am also apprenticing to be a tattoo artist (and should actually be done this year - so exciting!) and I was wondering if any of you girls are tattoo artists as well?

I know that it is still a seriously male-dominated field (though more and more women are getting involved) and I was wondering how you felt that being a dancer as well influences your career as an artist, if at all.

Tattoo artists are known for loving strippers, and I know that in my city, artists DO frequent the clubs, including mine. Tattoo artists are also known for a whole bunch of other stereotypes, most of which involve being at least a little sexist. And while I know not all artists fit these stereotypes, I've been in the industry for a few years, and honestly, the majority of them really do.

I am a little concerned about how stripping may affect my career, and wanted any input from people in a similar situation. At the moment, lots of artist have seen me at work, but all already knew me, so it wasn't a big deal. I'm a little more concerned about going to a shop looking for a spot and realizing I've taken money from the guys there..or being judged as less talented because I'm a stripper. It has already been suggested once or twice that I "fucked my way into an apprenticeship", or that I would be more likely to get clients, jobs etc if I gave them a dance as well as a tattoo. And I cannot count the number of times guys have told me they'll tattoo me if I pay them in dances...sometimes its all in good fun, sometimes its downright creepy.

Has anyone else found this industry (tattooing) surprisingly judgemental of stripping?

Hi I've been an artist in the industry for 17 years. Your response will vary from artist to artist, and definitely from shop to shop, but bottom line is if you conduct yourself intelligently, stay humble and self-critical, work your ass off, and show a genuine appreciation and knowledge of the history of the craft then you will soon be above any judgment.

Good tattooers do not see their chosen careers as fashion accessories, and are generally results driven people. If you can deliver the results, while maintaining a good attitude and work ethic then you should be fine.

Ive only been in the industry a short amount of time, and Im not actually peircing yet. Im still apprenticing, but I find what angelking said to be true. There are the retards that think there shit doesnt stink because they can tattoo.. I generally stay away from these guys. Like a strip club, you hear alot of stupid man shit in tattoo shops.
Manyroses - Let your work speak for itself. If anyone decides to judge you based on what you do outside the shop, thats on them. There missing out on some great work from a beautiful talented artist. Just keep doing you and building your portfolio, people will see your talent & youll gain the respect you deserve.

I would luv to be a tattoo artist - however shops here have not been friendly when it comes down to apprenticeships so I said fck it cuz to do the bitch for no pay they asked was so degrading as I wasn't getting the training I needed & was made to fold t shirts, clean everything, do everything but be shown anything. Not becuz of any lack of art skillz cuz I been drawing comic book quality characters since I was a child & I can draw anything with style, but I think they just looked at me as some girl they could treat that way & I was outtie 2 go back to making my money as a dancer.

Yes while I'm stripping every tattoo artist I know wants to date or do me (but they tend to think they are soo cool & attractive to women that more then a dance or 2 is like asking for blood) However there is 1 that is really sweet & kinda super infatuated with me that I do like even though I'm trying to break it to him kindly that well it's rare I like a guy it's really not going to lead to me dating him or having sex as I'm into girls in a way he just can't compete with. I just like him like him when I'm stuck at the club surrounded by guys compared to all of them (not thinking of him having a penis) while I'm playing my stripper persona, but the real me is really thinking more about how I luv the way 1 of my coworkers shakes her ass in my face to tease me & remind me of the hott time we had in the back last week cuz I'm so inlust with her. Heck I think if I took his personality & how I click with him into her body then I'ld be all in, but I just can't settle w/ a guy knowing sexually for me it's all about girls especially since dck doesn't do it for me so what kind of relationship would that be where we both would need to fck other women to enjoy sex.

Anyhow I do know some sexy female tattoo artist, but as I have dated them I really don't know who is cockier the male or female tattoo artist in general so well I rather get a tat by a hott chick (as many men feel as well) still unless I meet 1 that isn't the man is her head I'm gonna stay away from going there again nomatter how sexy the job is or how much I do luv tattoos.
