So stripping has been completely banned in Iceland. The shocking part is the reason: feminism. It is the only country to have such a ban for non-religious reasons.
On one hand, I disagree with the outcome, but I also can see the thorough reasoning behind this. It looks like the main goal is to combat human trafficking. And close behind is the idea that sex is not something to be treated as a commodity.
Ordinarily, I would say this is a backwards sollution--dancing (and likely by extension, human trafficking) would be pushed underground into a dangerous place. No regulation almost always means the worst. But the population of Iceland is smaller than that of most cities, making "underground" almost impossible.
Also, only 10% of the population disagreed with the ban to begin with. Maybe there is just a different social mindset? This is a country with a lesbian for a prime minister, and with over 40% of the parliament female.
