    Default bill me later

I just wanted to add this to the forum. There is a site called Billmelater.com that is affiliated with 100's of popular retail stores like walmart, apple, ulta ect... you make purchases with them and have the option to pay later and make payments, similar to a credit card. Bill me later credit policy isn't as stringent as some credit card companies. all you enter on the app is just the last 4 digits of your soc. sec #, full name, address and bday. I purchased all of my sons Christmas presents that way and just paid it off when i got my next mfc check.

The reason I am mentioning this here is because there are quite a few sites that have electronics lighting and furniture. maybe you need a new laptop, or webcam, but can't afford it... well this way you can get it, and not have to worry about it right now, and im sure if it was a new cam... lol it would pay for itself in a day.

Wow, what a GREAT way to wrack up debt and have cam-newbs struggling even harder to pay off that impulse buy before they've even made money to SAVE (the whole reason we should even be in this industry).

    Check this out:

The Annual Percentage Rate is 19.99%.
20%, y'all. That's more than most credit cards. Why not just SAVE your money and buy things with the cash you have or have your custies buy you things you want? Don't be suckers on payment plans and bullshit "credit" companies. I don't even think this company will be reflective, positively on your FICO score, if you actually paid on time. but I'm sure it would ruin it if you happened to miss a payment.

If you use it responsibly it shouldn't be a problem. I was just putting it out there for girls that may need a few things, but needed a flexible way to pay. things like this are great when you use them the right way. no need to be so harsh.

The truth is harsh. Today, nearly everyone is broke or in debt (or both) and its all because of rackets like these. We can't afford short-term band-aids anymore. These days, any financial adviser will tell you the only responsible way to buy anything is with the cash you know you have. There's nothing responsible about relying on credit for impulse buys online. That's all loan-shark sites like this are for.

Trust me, in three years of camming, I've bought $1K+ worth of supplies, paid for a $3500+ website to be built (mostly, my custies paid for that.. ) and paid for my own reconstructive surgery in cash. If you don't have the cash to buy something, you obviously can't afford it. Furthermore, if you don't have the cash and your custies won't buy it, well... you just must not want it badly enough. Step your game up.

Well. I'd rather buy in cash, but I guess if someone was desperate it could be worth it. Like if your camming PC died and your credit sucked. Even so, at worst I would do something that was 90 days same as cash. Lots of places still offer that.

    I absolutely LOVE shopping online.
Consequently, I do not have a credit card. If I did have one, I'd be in serious trouble. I don't even have my debit card attached to my PayPal, because I would definitely have financial issues about a week later.
Custies LOVE spoiling you. Just ask them. Just yesterday I convinced a new custy to buy me a Kindle

This *has* happened to me, and I was out of the cam world for a couple months. Devastated, to say the least, and had to get a "real" job.

Thanks for the info Shannon, I appreciate your info, but I'm gonna have to go with Vivian on this one, Billmelater is actually a REALLY bad solution that one should avoid if one can. In addition to the fact that they charge outrageous interest they tank your credit score and don't offer fraud protection or security as good as a true credit card or paypal.

    From the linked article:

Opening one new account could push a solid credit score of 707 down to 697 for six months, according to Fair Isaac's FICO Score Simulator, which gauges how consumers' actions affect creditworthiness. Even worse: Your score could drop by as much as 100 points if you come close to maxing out the line of credit
    http://consumerist.com/2008/01/the-d...t-systems.html

Credit bureaus view opening a Bill Me Later account as a "desperate" move and flag your credit score. If you apply for one (especially if you don't get it) you can count on not getting any additional credit extended to you by anyone for several months.

I know, thank you for the info! It does seem kind of cool. But just way too scary. Ppl can get into serious trouble this way. That's why I dont even have a credit card any more. If I need to do something which takes a credit card I use a Visa girft card. Im too terrified of debt and it's so easy to get into. I refuse to buy anything that I dont have the cash for. Cash. In. Hand.

Two words: Backup PC. I would die if something happened to my Macbook, which is my primary camming computer but I did decide to buy a simple mini-Toshiba for under $400. I know if anything happens to my main computer or even if i just want to work a site (or my fucking machine) that isn't Mac-friendly, I do have a backup. They're so cheap now, that only a single check could cover it.

I recommend every camgirl have a backup. Just in case. We should be saving up for these kinds of emergencies, anyway. I also have a loaded Wifi-Card, should I be without internet for any given time but still have to cam.

Just what I thought. Thanks for digging that up. The moral of the story is, we just shouldn't become that desperate. Pay yourself first, save at least 10% of everything and you should never need or (even see the necessity) to get into a place where you would need this kind of "service".

thank you... I was putting it out there because I thought I was being informative. I never told anyone to go on a shopping spree and rack up their limit, but to use it wisely. We're all grown ups here. I manage my money well, but unplanned things have arrived and Ive had to use my savings for other things. Its your own fault if you abuse things like this. Ive had a pleasant experience with it because i paid off my account with them 8 days after I made my purchase. no harm done. I was putting it out there as an option if you need something and KNOW you can handle it, and WILL pay for it.

We're not trying to rip you apart, and I did tell you that I appreciate you sharing this helpful tip. I was just sharing what I've learned about it and the reasons I don't use it.

You know what, I do care. I care that girls on this forum always seem to be chasing whatever carrot on a stick that's new in camming and sex work to make a quick buck but never just work and save like normal people. We're in the best position to have our livelihoods provided for, yet chicks still insist on living hand-to-mouth. I think this kind of shit is toxic to poor people but working/poor people also need to take the responsibility to want to improve habits thus canceling out the need for this kind of bullshit. I'm just going to call it out, like IsobelWren mentioned and give you every reason to NOT use it. If you still decide to, sure, dig your grave but these things are well-known as scams. They're set up to get away from the buyer and get out of the consumer's control. They wouldn't make the kind of money expected if it was a sure thing you'd pay on time.

I'm seeing a few of these "should I take this loan" or "oh look at this GREAT way to get free cash" style posts, lately and its pathetic to me. Just sad. I've had serious ups and downs in camming (especially now) but the whole point of this is to make money in the good days to save for the bad. I honestly think chicks would complain less about how bad a site is if they had better habits to save the money they made when they were bragging about how good that same site was, just months prior.

There are lots of books about how payday loans and fast-cash solutions are all methods to milk the working poor out of their hard-earned cash. Shortchanged:
Life and Debt in the Fringe Economy
, by Howard Karger is a great one.

Can you please provide the service provider you're using for Wifi-Card ? I'm also on Mac, and want to get one as long it's good and Mac compatible.
