Anyone know of any good ways to get rid of stretch marks? My skin is light brown.
I've used Strivectin SD and have paid about $80 a tube and it does nothing...I even read that surgery doesn't help. I hate stretch marks! Urgh

Honestly, the only thing that worked for me was time. I'm a tall girls and developed stretch marks on my thighs in puberty and they've only faded now. I'm also obsessed with moisturizing now which is probably why I didn't get any after my BA.

Lasers!
I haven't found anything that works

Let me repeat, lasers.

I really don't think there's anything that removes them.
I've heard of things making them lighter like Bio Oil (never tried it though).
I agree, time really seems to be the only thing.
I think Dermablend does a good job of at least concealing them.![]()

Fraxel laser treatment made my giant purple stretch marks thin and skin colored after a few treatments. I'm sure if I'd had a couple more they would have pretty much disappeared. I wish I had before and after pictures to show you. If you have the cash it's worth it.
Laser only works on brand new stretch marks (purple/red/pink ones). The whiter ones will be tougher. The laser does not fully remove them, but does help the appearance where they begin to look unnoticable.
I would look into AHAs creams first, use them for a month+ then go to the laser. It should make the treatment achieve better results.
You might want to take a look at this video. This information helped me out a lot.
If it doesnt come up type in TonyaTko stretch marks.

Anyone have any recommendations for avoiding stretch marks during pregnancy? I want to start using someting now and continue throughout. Any help is appreciated!

I'm curious about using Retin A to prevent stretch marks rather than treat them. It's more effective than any other topical treatment as far as I know, so maybe it would work before the fact too. I don't know if it's good to use during pregnancy, but I'd ask a doctor about it.

And Italian Bombshell: I have no idea how much it costs because I didn't pay for it, but I'm guessing it's pretty expensive.

There are claims that Japanese Camellia oil is suppose to be good to prevent pregnancy stretch marks...

Whatever you decide to use, just make sure your skin is always drenched in it. Use oatmeal soaps for itching, and moisturizing soaps with real oils in them...like jojoba, coconut, shea butter, almond, etc.
Drink lots of water.

From everything I've researched, there is no way of really preventing stretch marks. It's really based on your genes. However, there are ways to reduce the appearance.
Drink lots of water and cocoa butter. Before, during and after pregnancy.
Cocoa butter EVERYWHERE! Hips, thighs, butt, boobs, belly.
As long as you have good genes though, I think you'll be okay.![]()

I am also interested in this.....after all my research and reading, I am thinking about trying a dermaroller. There's a website called makemeheal.com that has a scar forum that talks about it. I guess it works pretty well on acne scarring as well.
You may want to check it out. I think I'm going to try it, cuz the cocoa butter and stretch mark creams aren't cutting it for me. And it's been well over 7 years now. Time does lighten them and tanning helps to conceal them, but if you get too dark they get lighter and are even more visible. Especially with spray tans.
You can also try to tone up your body to get the skin tighter. I think I read on here somewhere that one member did weight training and could barely notice them after that. It's worth a shot right?

This. I did all the creams the whole way through, gained ZERO kgs while pregnant (I lost 15kg from hyperemesis gravidae and struggled to gain any weight)
I had a perfect belly until 35 weeks when I got one stretchmark low (just at the top of my public mound to the base of my belly) I was on bedrest and my tummy just RIPPED!!! (I also had an abdominal seperation)
at 41weeks 3 days I was 130cm around my middle (Im 180cm tall) all baby!
I also got stretchmarks AFTER bubs arrived.
I delivered a 10 pounder and 2 placentas, lost 17kg by day 3. (then stacked on 40kg thanks hormones)
Theres no sense crying over every mistake,
you just keep on trying till you run out of cake
