    Default Haircolor help appreciated!

    Hi gals,

I really need some honest help with my hair. I'm confused with my coloring, and don't feel like I fit into the normal equations (cool/warm/etc.). I trust your discerning eyes.

    I'm 75% off-the-boat Southern Italian, 25% German/English.

I have dark green eyes, not the usual shade, so I never know whether they're "cool" or "warm". I've gotten comments about my eyes ranging from, "Irish", "German", to "maybe even Syrian".

I have quite pale skin, and sometimes even a little pink/peach-ness but not as fair/pasty as a blonde/redhead, and I sometimes pick up a little color that's more olive-y-Italian-Mediterranean-looking. That's when I get called Greek-looking.

No one can ever tell me whether I look best in silver/gold jewelry, or white or cream shirts. I wear every color, but feel best in bold jewel-toned colors, but for some reason, love neon highlighter yellow, which shouldn't work, technically.

My hair is naturally dark brown, but it gets golden/reddish/lighter at the temples/ends from the sun. I can't tell whether this is flattering and something to accentuate or if it's brassy/washes me out. I recently dyed it (temp) a cooler, darker brown, as a test-run for black, but I just can't figure out what's off. Is it that I just need a tan, or do I need an inky blue-black to set off my eyes? Or should I take this as a hint that I dislike my hair darker and cooler, and go a little lighter and warmer, maybe a warm brown with reddish? Or should I put blonde highlights in? Ahhhh....

    Here's a pic, no makeup, so don't gag: http://img42.imageshack.us/i/angelpai.jpg/

Two more, was ~30lbs heavier back then, but you get the coloring idea:

What do you all think would be a good color for me? Open to *all* ideas, no matter how extreme.

The dark hair gives you a really pretty, exotic look. I think you could rock it just fine. : ) Since you're naturally fair skinned, a little bit of a tan and some bronzer & blush on your face will make a huge difference and prevent washing out.

But your natural hair color is gorgeous, too. If I were you, I'd keep it! It's very unique, especially with green eyes.

If you decide you don't like the brown color, I'd suggest letting it fade or getting a natural looking full highlight. The brown dye will likely have stained your natural color darker, so if you want those reddish highlights back, you might have to do it the artificial way.

And not everyone fits into those warm/cool color schemes. Some people are more neutral, and they look good in everything (lucky bastards).

Yes you can do black but I wouldn't do blue black because to me that makes a girl look really cold--can't explain it better than to say regular black or brown black would be good. I could see you looking good in blue black or red black (the kind that shines burgundy) but it's just my preference not do do those colors.

Keep in mind that when you go black it is A PAIN to strip out the color. Sally's sells a yellow box product that is great at stripping out tough colors but even then you will not get all of it out.

I had my hair black for seven years so I don't regret it. Now I'm a copper redhead to a cinnamon brown depending on if I need to redye (red is the largest molecule for coloring from what I've read which is why it washes out so easily and you have to redye faster to keep it vibrant. Did not have that problem with black.) on the flipside, I can see you looking great with blonde or red hair if you're so inclined. Blonde hair (in my opinion) is harder upkeep. Red hair you can let the roots and eyebrows slide a little bit. Black hair is the least (for you) upkeep and you probably won't even have to dye your eyebrows (or else do it rarely.)

I can't see a redhead rocking neon yellow like a raven haired person could.
But luckily it seems you look like a person who looks good both fair and dark and I think most colors would look good on you. I tend towards picking warm colors so I think everyone looks good in them when that's probably not the case, this is why I stay away from colors that I feel are cold.
