That is an (empty) shotgun shell. There are shotguns designed similar to AR's and AK's.

Her form could use some improvement, she should be leaning into the shotgun, not away from it. She also should be wearing eye and hearing protection.
When the weather warms up, bring your heels and we will go shooting.

Wow!!! That gun shoots fast!!! I thought shotguns shoot slow and you had to click them between shots to shoot again.
Anywhoo, I'll bring my sexiest heels...and I want to shoot pumpkins or watermelons or maybe cans of soda. Something that explodes. Lol!

Some great old Class III's here:

I don't know why it says shotguns.

That’s an Atchisson AA-12. There’s videos of it being fired one handed.
Never got into shotguns. I don’t own any, and the recoil from a .12 gauge is a bit much for me. Of course, the absolute worst was the Mosin-Nagant M44. I hate feeling like I can’t keep up, so the more they fired it, the more I would. Next morning, my shoulder would be black and blue and I’d barely be able to lift my arm.
Though nothing really brings out that, “I am become death, the destroyer of worlds” feeling quite like the M2 I was assigned to in Afghanistan.

The Auto Assault-12 (AA-12), originally designed and known as the Atchisson Assault Shotgun, is a shotgun developed in 1972 by Maxwell Atchisson. The most prominent feature is reduced recoil. The current 2005 version has been developed over 18 years since the patent was sold to Military Police Systems, Inc. The original design was the basis of several later weapons, including the USAS-12 combat shotgun. The weapon is fully automatic only. However, it fires at a rate of 300 rounds per minute, allowing it to fire one round at a time with brief trigger pulls. It is fed from either an 8-shell box magazine, or a 20- or 32-shell drum magazine.

Did it ever have the AR type carrying handle?
The women in the video are likely models, not shooters. For probably never having seen a real firearm before, I thought they did well. The thing that really impressed me was the vintage Class III’s they were getting to shoot. What a privilege, and they probably didn’t even realize it.
Never understood why the Mosin Nagant recoils like it does. Must be something to do with the stock geometry.

Here is another view clearly showing the carrying handle.

I don’t know if the AA-12 ever had a carry handle like that or not. I believe there’s a company in Italy which makes a shotgun (I believe in .410) that at least resembles an AR with the carry handle, but I don’t know if it uses a gas system like how most rifles do or if it’s recoil operated the way semi auto shotguns tend to be.
The lower photo, the top two have M249s or similar… the M249 is a variant of a Belgian weapon I don’t remember the name of offhand. I’ve qualified with one, but with a standard length barrel… the Rangers, British, and French had those short barrels.
Bottom has a Russian PK or PKM. Fires the same round as that Mosin-Nagant I mentioned earlier. Did a familiarization range with that, the RPD, RPK, AK, DSHK, and KPV.

I can see how this would escape most male minds, but I have to wonder... why are they carrying belted ammunition and it looks like the one has a bandolier of shotgun shells, and nothing to fire any of it with? Some of them have some seriously piss poor muzzle awareness, too.
Of everything I've qualified on - and just about every handgun I've fired outside of the military - the M9 was absolutely my least favorite. I'm glad I was never assigned one.
Yeah, the Taliban liked to sit about 500 meters or so from the road and open up from that distance. One thing I always knew was that Ma Deuce could give it right back to them in spades. Maybe a Mk. 19 would've been nice. I never got to fire live rounds from one, but I did get to see them in action.
Have you deployed yet?

I have. Spent nine months in Baghdad, and in about a week, I'll be heading off for a nine month vacay in beautiful Bagram, Afghanistan. I had orders to go to PCS to Leavenworth, but got wind they were looking for folks to go to Afghanistan, so I raised my hand and said sure. The BDE CDR told me he'd swing me back to FLKS as soon as we get back, so it all works out.

I imagine that, if I'd been RA, I probably would've liked to have been stationed in Germany or Italy. I've been overseas twice... once was a three week AT which I spent in Korea, and the other was my deployment. Would be nice to see more of the world, and that would've given me easy access to travel to various points in Europe.

It is about time! We thought you dozed off.
@Slowpoke, you are unbanned. Good for you.
I am also a fan of Benelli semi-auto shotguns. I have an M1 super 90, it kicks too much for me. "00" buckshot. But I won't admit that willingly since I want to keep it. Beats a pump shotty by miles!

Thank you baer45.. I thought semis were supposed to attenuate recoil. I've only shot pumps myself.
That's a great picture. Hard to find a young lady on a pole with a rifle.
M1 and M2 use Benelli inertia recoil system, you can shoot it continuously as fast as you can. I just hold it tight and lean forward with my whole body weight. I can't say I enjoy shooting it. But it's very powerful stuff and deadly accurate.
I haven't paid much attention to guns. The last time I went to the gun range was 8 months ago.

When the weather is better, you should go.

This reminds me of the time I went shooting with my roommate and his friends. One of them had brought an 870 with pistol grip and also a pistol grip on the slide, and they had the bright idea of running 3” Magnum slugs through it. Not the brightest idea they’ve ever had (or I, for that matter, since I also fired it).

A little hard to control?

I’m surprised my hands still functioned afterwards. I mean, it hurt like hell.
