There is a guide on Streamate that walks you through every step... Go to "support" then "HD encoder" then "configuring the encoder".

It seems complicated at first but you'll get used to it.

Also make sure when you go to start your show that you change the drop box setting to external encoding. When you are done d/ling go to the next down, "configuring the encoder". Make sure you follow those directions specifically or it will not stream hd

Yes, those configurations are very important!

And never hit the connect button..Always use "start" and "stop" at the bottom of the encoder. Dont' use the "stop my session" button on the chat window if you are using the encoder.

Just curious... why? I've been doing this if I get a show elsewhere... What happens? Does your video keep being broadcasted if you do so?

I'm just going based on what the technical page says on the SM site. It would certainly be easier to do that, but my understanding from a few other posts I read (not sure which ones) was that if we got a show elsewhere, we had to stop the encoder & close it (unable to re-enter the values once you stop it), rather than hit "stop my session" on chat page. Then when you are ready to stream again on SM, re-open the encoder and re-enter the field values every time.

I don't know if there is an easier way around it or if I'm doing something harder than I need to. Maybe one of the gals who has been there longer can answer that.

Also, when you click "Start my show" and the window with the 2 URLs pop up for you to copy and paste, do NOT close that window. Copy and paste it and then click Start in the Encoder.

I just figured out what I was doing wrong. Ohhh technology.
