Default webcam jobs showing up in employment history and from taxes?!!

I have been a webcam model for 6 months, and am graduating next year as a physical therapist (PT) I will be around medical-surgery patients in the nurses ward all day in patient rooms.

Any hospital I will work at, may do a previous employment background check.
Can these webcam modeling jobs will show up on those employment checks!

    1) how does webcam companies (streamate, alertpay, IMlive) show up on on those employment checks? Do they show up as streamate, imlive, or as just "internet afilitate companies?" ---> i,e, they could be anything.

2.) When I file taxes as an independent contracter, and I file as "adult webcamera Entertainer," ( I take payment through alertpay and pay taxes on it) does this mean that on every subsequent employment check by companies it will show up as "adult webcam entertainer? Meaning wherever i work that does an employment history they will see that I worked as an independent contracter that was an "adult webcam enterainter" or will the future employment hiring employment history background checks pull up as *just* "independent contractor?

3.) If so, does that mean when I file taxes for 2010 I should file as something safer, like "internet therapist"

4.) If I don't make enough to file taxes ( i may or may not), should I still file taxes for my webcam job?

    5) how do you write off your cam expenses? I believe independent contractors like us web cam girls are taxed 15%?

    6) Do you gals pay taxes on your Independent Alertpay income? If so, do you have a business account or a Personal Pro? I heard Mayala / Malaya say that we only need a personal pro account and on the personal pro we could use our Cam name and not out real name and then we wouldn't have to pay taxes on it?

    thanks so much!!!

Hehe asking that here your going to get alot of
"When you get naked on the internet, what do you expect" answers/

But the short answer , File taxes on EVERYTHING you make , or keep track of
And im pretty sure (not certain) Streamate came back as Something Webcams
last year for me. (May have been one of my smaller company's)

^ I don't think anyone is going to say that, Buffy. All of the questions the OP asked are actually AMAZINGLY important, and not talked about enough here. (And I wish I had the answers to them!)

I will say that no, most companies do NOT report as "something webcams." Most report as really anonymous-sounding, innocuous things like "Internet Sales Incorporated," or the like.

She wonders how much he'd pay to see her innards, what it is guys think girls are hiding so that they always want to see them in every place.

Could the answers to these questions possibly be in the Dollar Den? I need to get to that section myself and read.

    Ok some basic tax info-

    1) how does webcam companies (streamate, alertpay, IMlive) show up on on those employment checks? Do they show up as streamate, imlive, or as just "internet afilitate companies?" ---> i,e, they could be anything.

when you sign up on a site it tells you how you will be paid on the check- as it was already posted they use funky names- so you dont get a check from imlive- you get one from internet sales inc or some nonsense. I dont have time to research the sites you listed and find out the specific for you- sorry.

Yikes.. If you list yourself as adult webcam ent. on your taxes then that will be there forever. Anyone who can see your taxes will see you filled that out. Ask your tax proffesional for something less obvious..

3.) If so, does that mean when I file taxes for 2010 I should file as something safer, like "internet therapist"

yes. again ask your tax preparer for something.

4.) If I don't make enough to file taxes ( i may or may not), should I still file taxes for my webcam job?

any income over 500 dollars in the us needs to be reported.

    5) how do you write off your cam expenses? I believe independent contractors like us web cam girls are taxed 15%?

youre taxed 15% for ss, disabilty, medicaid etc. but its off the earnings after all your deductions. So you want to deduct as much as you can. again ask a pro for help if you cant understand the forms.

    6) Do you gals pay taxes on your Independent Alertpay income? If so, do you have a business account or a Personal Pro? I heard Mayala / Malaya say that we only need a personal pro account and on the personal pro we could use our Cam name and not out real name and then we wouldn't have to pay taxes on it?

its up to you how much of your income you want to report. A pro will tell you all of it, but the truth is when you work for an overseas co or acceot independant money from some one its up to you to report it. What the IRS does in general is cross reference what you report against what others reported. So a us company says they paid you 10k, you need to say you made 10k. If an overseas company paid you 20k and doesnt report to the IRS its up to you to report you made 20k

    quick question:

I have a girlfriend who also cams (in fact she got me into it)

She didn't report her income the first year that she cammed. at all. 2009

Now, the second year, which was 2010, she will report it, but , she's scared to do so becuase then the IRS will find out somehow (she does streamate and imlive only) that she didn't report last nyears income and fine her like thousands of dollars? She only made 2 or 3 thousand in 2009 and 2010....well, around $10k ish i think.

also, question for me: what do you mean by you don't have to report all the income from overseas company, like SM and imlive?

Becuase I know strippers who make $500/night and only report $150 of it! There's no paper trail. Theroetically, could we as webcam girls report less than what we make using ALertpay and sm/imlive?

For REAL? I don't know the specifics to your questions but WHY would you fuck around with the IRS, not only can they fine you, but you can go to jail - for years even. Why play around and risk it?

    @buffyflame
I'd do what I did to the people I really dislike who are scamming unemployment benefits - report their fraud! I only tattle when people are shits, and technically if I know it's illegal for me to not report it, so I suggest you do the same! plus it's nice schadenfreude

I'm curious about this as well - only because it is cash and EVERYBODY lies about cash income - I will absolutely report income that is filed through others, but I'm pretty sure than nobody buying my vids with Alertpay is filing it in their returns, so there's no way for the IRS to see it.

I'm only saying this because EVERYONE does it with cash - it's not trackable!!! even my family members that work in accounting don't think it's bad.

So if you want to be with me
With these things there’s no telling
We just have to wait and see
But I’d rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery
Besides maybe this time is different
I mean I really think you like me

ok I cant really give advice- just tell you how things are and you make your own decisions. legally you are required to report anything over 500 dollars- heres what happens if you dont-

if she made 2 or3k and didnt report it for anything to happen- first they have to find out about it. If she filed a return and omitted it- they will correct your return and send you either a bill or a credit (depending on how it changes your return) Youre generally not going to owe thousands on a 2-3k ommission and you can look up the fines/penalties online if youd like. She could also recalculate her return herself to get an idea of what it would be if they do recalculate and estimate the penalties..

But generally speaking you wont go to jail for a small ommission like that.

As for how much you report from a non verified source (cash payments- overseas payments) its up to you. the IRS has no way currently to verify the amounts besides what you say it is. It is illegal though, so you have to weigh the consequences. Sometimes reporting less can actually hurt the amount youd get back as well. Use a free tax program online and compute it several ways. If you have kids you may be entitled to eic if you fall in a particular bracket. which will cover the 15% tax plus get you some back.

for example someone who made 12k on cam that has a kid could get a refund of 3687

    18k-2835
    25k- 784
    9k-3950
    4k-1519

if you dont have a kid the numbers are different. Use a free online program and find out for yourself where you fall.

so you see reporting 9 is better then reporting 4. but 12 is better 18..
