    Default Sell car for surgery?

It's unlikely that I'll be able to come up with the money to pay for surgery quickly. I am trying to save about $10,000 for rhinoplasty by the summer. Anyway my car is a used honda civic...about $4000. It's not the greatest car but it gets around. So should I sell it in order speed things up (I guess I could take a taxi/bike after that)? I'm looking for suggestions cause I feel dancing is starting to burn me out. I'm actually starting to wean out of it by finding a second job and possibly a permanent full-time position. Thx

You want to sell your car to pay for a nose job...and to top it off you're getting burnt out on dancing...

Selling your car sounds like a surefire way to poverty to me.
You want to use your bicycle only for a few weeks to see if you can get by, that's one thing. But factoring in taxis and not even taking into account the downtime (and cost of not working during the downtime) for the surgery....

Just wow. I can't believe you'd think that was even an option.

^Mildly judgmental overtones aside, I'm agreeing with FG.

Usually "Get __ quick" schemes are reallllllly bad ideas, even though they're fun to daydream about.

I can see the basic logic ("Hmmm...$6,000 is much easier to earn than $10,000"), but that aside, this sounds like a bad idea!

I mean clearly you're already a good-looking girl if you're making enough money to conceivably save up for a nose job. So you should definitely keep saving, keep your car, and wait until you have the money together.

But selling your car and making it MORE difficult to get to the job you're already burnt out on seems like a bad idea.

    ^ That's a really good, concise point.

Ha. Okay fine. So maybe my head was sort of in the clouds the other day and I was a tad ahead of things. It didn't help however, when some skuzzy customer pointed, and nearly shouted how ABNORMALLY CUTE my nose was...when I clearly hate my nose. He almost said it in some sarcastic/facetious kind of tone too. *BLECK*

Have you tried getting a loan? Also, if you work at night I wouldn't suggest riding a bike. Be safe.

Yeah, I think a better option (rather than selling your car) is to just resolve to literally working your ass off for a month straight.

You'll recover from your burn out while you're recovering from your nose surgery, so while you're working super hard, as often as you can, just keep repeating "It's only 4/5/6 more weeks then I get a break, it's only ___ more weeks.".

That mind set helped me when I was burnt out a still working. Hopefully it'll help you too.

Ha! That wasn't mild, but it was a whole lot more mild than what my brain's inital response was

I get the temptation, just not the follow-through in terms of thinking of the big picture.

A car can get you places. Hell, a person can even sleep out of a car. A car is necessary. Unless, someone you trust is getting rid of a goodcar for 2 grand, it would be folly to sell your car unless you already never use it and even then I'd be leery.

If you're really desperate, get a roommate or give up your apt and couch surf while working a second job.

And don't let the customer(s) get you down. Some guys are awfully good at discerning what a girl is self-conscious about and putting her downthat way. It's a power trip since you're leagues above them in the hotness scale.

What do you hate about your nose so much? I love mine and I've got a huge honker of a nose. But to me it makes me think I look like a sexy tigress. Granted, there's a slight witch bump too, but then again, I don't look at myself from the side hardly ever and I guess it's a good warning to people about who they're dealing with

    Haha what?

Yes I found my past thread very foolish and I thought I explained it (esp. about the customer giving me a hard time!). We have rash thoughts and I was merely venting. Who doesn't want to make a quick fix to something their not comfortable about? What I don't understand is why people find it difficult to admit to their 'issues'? Jesus sakes, I've been teased about my nose since I was in grade school. It's not on my priority right now, but I'm slowly saving up money. Responsibly. No worries.

@FriendishGyrator -- got it down. Thanks for your understanding girl.

No, that's a bad idea. Taxi's are extremly expensive and add up.
