As some of you might know, I just had a BA, my boobs were born on March 21, 2011. I did research for literally four years before I finally went through with it..... I learned all about the procedure, different techniques, different dissection methods (how they create the pocket, blunt dissection, electro cautery, etc.) placement (sub glandular, sub muscular, sub fascial), incision options and tradeoffs with each one, types of implants. etc. I went on four different consultations with doctors here locally in Dallas, and did online consultations with many others.
Anyways..... I absolutely LOVE my results and my surgeon! Why did I choose him? Well, I really loved all of his before and after photos on his website first of all, I wanted a natural upper pole, no upper cleavage, basically I wanted to look naturally perfect, not like I had had breast surgery, just like I was born naturally perfect. I know this is very picky and some doctors would say unrealistic.
I emailed my doctor (Dr. Gaon in Newport Beach, California) about 15 photos from all different angles, and he sent me back a VERY thorough response. I have lost close to 25 lbs over the last year and half, and my breasts have gone from a C to a very deflated A. It looked like I had breast fed six kids.... I really hated the actual shape of my tissues! It seemed like the doctors with whom I spoke in Dallas said that breast implants can only do so much to correct the existing shape of your tissues.... basically it would look like my natural breast shape only bigger, unless I opted for a lift, and I wasn't bad enough to where I needed one.
In his email response, Dr. Gaon told me that I actually had "pseudo ptosis". The position of my nipples were perfect, and if I had a lift they would pop out of bras. Prior to speaking with him, no doctor had really told me this. I really liked the effort he took in writing me back so thoroughly, it reflected his passion for what he does. I also read reviews online about him (I usually don't trust these because of all the spam) about how he really takes his time with each patient and listens. So true! I ended up flying out to California to meet him in person for a consultation, and that basically convinced me 100% that this was the perfect doctor for me. He spent over an hour talking to me about everything to do with breast implants, he explained every detail and showed me countless pictures. He didn't even charge me for that long consultation!
Now, here's how he is different from all the other doctors with whom I spoke..... I told him I wanted to be a very full C, small D as my final result. Instead of me choosing the implant size right then and there and "trying on" implants (which I've heard is inaccurate), he actually orders a whole range of implants. For me, he ordered everything from 300 cc to 375 cc cohesive silicone gel. He told me that what he does during surgery is inject and "fill up" each breast with saline solution and then sits me up, to see how many cc's he can fit without over stretching the tissues and to make sure it fits into the look I am trying to achieve. Then, that's the size implant he ends up using. The doctors in Dallas told me that I had to commit and choose which size implant I want prior to surgery, Dr. Gaon wouldn't even give me this option, because he said there's no way to tell how big your body will allow you to actually go until you are in surgery. He told me 375 would be the maximum amount, because of my rib cage diameter, and that's what I ended up getting in the end. He said it ended up being an absolute perfect fit!
Not only does he go through all that trouble for implant size, he is also trained in EVERY type of incision and placement method. The other doctors with whom I spoke only offered me one or two incision methods, and one (maybe two) placement methods. For example, Dr. Metcalf in Oklahoma ONLY does through the armpit, over the muscle, under the fascia, that's it, regardless of your tissues and how you look, how you want to look. Another doctor with whom I did a consult ONLY does through the areola, under the muscle. When I asked him about over the muscle under the fascia, he said had hardly heard of it. The problem was, most doctors are only trained one or two specific ways, where as Dr. Gaon is trained in EVERY way! He knows how to do sub fascial, sub muscular, subglandular, through the breast crease, areola, or armpit. He said he can do TUBA but much prefers not to......
So, IMO he is better able to customize each patient's surgery. For me, he strongly recommended going through the areola (because it is much easier to correct asymmetry and predict final placement), he explained trans axillary (through the armpit) as going around a corner blindly (well, with an endoscope) to create the pocket, and for me this wouldn't give him the best opportunity to create a perfect implant pocket. I was hesitant about going under the muscle because I work out so much, but he explained to me the specific muscle fibers he would cut (I can't remember now, it was very technical) and how it wouldn't be a big deal for someone who works out their upper body. I was also hesitant about the areola incision, but he explained that he actually makes the incision on the dark part of the areola, NOT the border, so that when your nipple gets hard and crinkles up the scar is completely undetectable. I've seen some HORRIBLE areola scars, but all the patients photos he showed me, I really couldn't see it at all. I'm only two weeks post op, and I absolutely can't see my scar at all on my left breast. My right breast is healing slower, but it's almost invisible too.
Anyways, my breasts look EXACTLY how I wanted them to look! I am sooo thrilled about my results, I had to tell all of you! I am so happy I took all that time to find that perfect surgeon, and for those of you who are still searching, maybe check him out! His prices are the same as all the doctors in Dallas, his surgical costs and implants was around 4K I believe, then the operating costs and anesthesiologist varies, depending how long your surgery takes. My sister is going to him for a rhinoplasty, and I plan on going back soon for an upper bleph. He actually specializes in facial surgery primarily, and all of his work and has a natural, not "done" look.
Anyways, I don't work for him in any way, I am just so happy I had to share with all of you guys my experience!![]()

Kind of a silly reason for not wanting to lose weight. This Dr is amazing though, knowing that I could lose the weight AND still have awesome natural-looking boobies afterward is a win-win!
