I had a blackout last night at work.. I just need to quit drinking at work. Just quit cold turkey. Has anyone done it? I know it's going to be hard, just need some encouragement.

You can do it. Drinking at work is such a bad idea. If someone buys me a drink, I'll have a sip or two to be courteous....but I see girls at work all the time who are just completely sloshed. And nothing good comes from it.
Ask yourself - why are you drinking so much? What are you using the alcohol for?
I am having this exact problem, it happened to me in work last week. I barely remember anything and I'm pretty sure I humiliated myself and I haven't been back since. I'm freaking out about working without drinking at all though...
You want a piece of me...
I've never blacked out but I have had many nights where I get over-emotional and end up crying over anyhting and have a terrible night. I HAVE to limit myself to two drinks or else. For some reason alcohol makes me very depressed and emotional ITC. IRL, I'm fine.
I posted a thread a while back about the effects of alcohol at work vs. IRL. I was dissappointed cause I didn't get a good response to it but I am very curious as to how many people have different reactions to booze ITC vs. IRL.
How much do you drink outside of work and how often? Have you ever blacked out before? I'm just curious.....
Also, are you sure no one put something in your drink? The one night I ever came close to blacking out, I'm pretty sure I was drugged.

I get social anxiety at work.. I only drink at work. I'm thinking of going at an AA meeting tonight. Has anyone been to one?
From just this statement, alone...it really does not sound like you need to go to an AA meeting. I think you are just feeling guilty about the other night. If you don't drink every day on a consistent basis, AA might not be the place for you. I've also said I'm gonna go to AA after one of my nights with an episode of alcohol gone bad at work....and I have a friend who still attends AA and is a recovering alcoholic for over a year. She told me that I was welcome to come but I really do not need AA.
Then again, it's not my place tell you what you should or shouldn't do, if you really feel like you have that big of a problem, then go, but judging from the info you gave me, I don't think you need AA. This is just my opinion.

Not a drinking problem, but a pot problem. I don't know why I smoke it at work. I don't like to talk when I'm high.![]()
