    Default Spending Habits

(Yes, I am going to keep starting threads until I run out of curiousity, or someone with a ban-hammer tells me to stop...)

So, guys, what are your usual spending habits, if any, when you hit a club? Is it something you even think about?

Ladies, what do you notice about patterns, if anything?

For my part, I've already mentioned that I typically spend on 5-10 dances, preferably with one girl I hit it off with, plus assorted drinks and covers and tips.

I also take it as a given that, even if I don't find that girl, I'm dropping at least $50 for being on the premises, be it drinks, pity dances, whatever. The money's gone before I open the door, I just haven't gotten it out of my wallet yet.

What about tipping staff? Here covers are usually $2, and I'll give $5, adjust accordingly for higher numbers, and for waitresses drinks (bottled water if I'm driving, misc. bewze if not -- I don't look to buy my usual single malts or whatever in the clubs I hang out in between $6-8 and I'll just pay $10 regardless. I spend enough time as a waiter and bartender when young that a $2-4 tip on a drink is in no way over-tipping, though from what I've observed a dollar tip on a $6 bottle of Molson or Labatt beer (the Quebec SC beverage of choice it seems) is the norm. If the waitress(es) and/or barmaid have been friendly and accommodating I'll leave a final tip of a drink or two's cost on my way out.

I'm hardly Frank Sinatra, but I assume a certain overhead when hitting any bar when it comes to tips.

As I've also mentioned, stage tipping simply doesn't seem to be done here, unless by imported and inebriated tour bus loads of American college kids with singles to spend. Girls don't seem to expect it at all either, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen it done. Which explains why dancers here seem to enjoy stage time about as much as a visit to the dentist, if the club is busy and they could be hustling dances.

    Guys? Ladies?

Or you could try the search engine as there have been dozens of threads based around this topic over the years both here and in blue.

Well, can't speak for here (it's true, didn't think to search threads older than a handful of pages back) but I don't hang around on the blue side of things.

Seemed seedy, and I'm not a fan of sausage parties.

Many of the coolest chicks on Stripper web spend time in blue. If they didn't I wouldn't bother with it either. I don't honestly care where you post but ignoring half the site based on a snap judgment seems a bit of a shame.

    In any event, party on....

I may re-check it out some day (the blue board), it just seemed when I gave it a look-see to be basically the same as some local review and splooge boards I already don't spend my time on.

Obviously, I may be totally missing the good stuff, and if so I'll no doubt poke around there again when I inevitably get bored.

    Thanks for the tip.

Montreal, if you want a fuller response on spending habits from the blues then you will need to pose the question in the basement. There are simply many blues that limit what they post up here in the pink section.

And FWIW, I agree with yoda's sentiment regarding the pinks that mix it up a bit in the basement.

Holy crap! I think you're tipping the waitstaff just fine! Maybe tipping isn't the norm, but if you like a dancer's particular style tipping might ensure a better time ( -and no need for just pity dances). Don't feel silly tipping the dancers. ..and dancers turning to waitressing because they weren't making enough? There had to be another reason to that. If you make nice with the bartenders, you will no longer be getting those weak drinks.

If stage tipping isn't the norm, I'd recommend approaching dancers as they're leaving the stage to give them a couple of dollars to show your appreciation. That'd be a much better way to spend your extra ones.
To me, from bar experience, it's a "generous" normal-range tip, not extravagant certainly. My drink tipping budget and my girl budget are separate items, so no dancer is losing out. Also, being Montreal, our $1 and $2 are coins, not bills, so frankly handing her a ten is fine, I don't end up with a pocket bulging and jingling, but actually not worth much.

As for catching her coming off stage to stage tip, I'll surely give it some thought, but in my experience dancers in Montreal get off the stage like a bat out of Hell to go change, hustle or rejoin the patron she got called away from. Hard to describe (maybe any other locals might have the same experience, or tell me what I'm missing) but it's almost like an interruption to get to her. I really try to just be cool with getting actual dances.

But I'll definitely see if I can use your advice. My impression is just that the girl isn't remotely expecting it, just the way things are in our strange little city.

Like I said, having worked in bars tipping is just instinct, but as for girls I've rarely been disappointed because I like to spend a bit of time warming up with her first, without having her doubt that dances are coming soon, so I can't recall an experience where the girl was cold. Certainly none of the horror stories some patrons have posted elsewhere (and probably on the blue board).

Maybe I've just been lucky, and I'm not that frequent a patron that I have a huge number of experiences.

    Au contraire Bring.

You are, naturally, looking at this from a dancer's perspective. But as a bar hanging customer, I can tell you that in some clubs good relations with the bartenders can be invaluable. Over the years, I have had bartender allies who have directed me to the right girls, warned me off from others, helped me wave off those that they already knew were not my cup of tea, let certain girls know that I was ok, and otherwise helped to make my nights the most that they could be.

Now I also take care of the dancers of course, but, as the old saying goes, "Always take care of the bartender."

I'm a regular to my club, so I usually just spend what I bring in, tip generously and normally leave a very happy customer. Come back the next week and start all over again. Life is good.

I have been a waitress at a club where we've had to tip out to work. It wasn't as much as the dancers, but it pretty much nulled out the 1/2 of minimum wage bullshit and we were totally working for tips too.

I like to tip everyone well.
