Default Any success reducing acne scarring a "natural way"?

i finally got my adult acne under control so far but im left with some scarring that still looks like i have pimples...i cant afford anything expensive or any peels/dermabrasion right now...anyone know of a natural alternative? i tried the tomato w/ sugar scrub but doesnt do anything for me...

btw, i have been on prescription face wash PRASCION as well as a lotion that has the same ingrediants for like two weeks now and i only get tiny little pimples once in a while now and they go away after two days. this stuff has been a godsend i wish i used it sooner so i wouldnt have all these scars

Bio-oil. I originally bought it for surgical scars, started using it on my face for dry skin. IMMEDIATELY noticed more even skin tone, texture and definitely much more hydrated. Regardless of the fact that it's oil, it's not greasy in the least and did not break my skin out.

What kind of scars are you referring to? Red spots or indented poc mark scars? Red spots are soooo much easier to take care of.

Bio-oil works well for surgical scarring, but for acne scaring and hyper-pigmentation left from pimples I've just started using witch hazel, and that's working wonderfully.

It's an all natural ointment that comes from the root of a plant commonly found along the east coast of the US. You can get about 16 oz for $5 at WalGreens, CVS or Walmart (I'm assuming you're in the US, I'm in Canada and it's a bit harder to find it here), just make sure the one you get is witch hazel without additives (like alcohol).

I believe the PH level of Witch Hazel is the same as that of natural skin, and it's very gentle and not very drying. Give it a try and see if it works for you. You can use it after your toner or in place of a toner - just apply a little bit to cotton-ball and wipe over your face. Or you can make a toner out of 1 part witch hazel, 1 part apple cider vinegar and 2 parts home-steeped green-tea. All natrual, cheap and good for oily/acne prone skin.

Let me know if it works!

Oh - I also have deep poc-marks, and I the only thing that helps with those is keeping myself really hydrated and useing lots and lots of moisturizer. I've yet to try any deep homemade peels or Retin-A or anything yet. Kinda gun-shy about harsh chemicals on my face. SUPER sensitive skin.

LEMON JUICE!! A routine of baking soda scrub and applying lemon juice to dry skin is one of the most common methods of reducing acne scarring/hyperpigmentation! I have been using lemons and within 1 week have seen results!

I juice my lemons myself, put them in a tiny bottle in fridge, use that up within 10 days. You can probably go a lil longer but I dont.

I've noticed a smoother texture to my skin using organic extra virgin coconut oil.

    Mario Badescu Whitening Mask: http://www.mariobadescu.com/whitening-mask
I had some acne scarring on my forehead, and since I've started using this masque regularly, the scarring has become close to invisible.

Another really great element to a regimen for adult acne/acne scarring is the Cane + Austin Glycolic Acne Treatment Pads: http://www.caneandaustin.com/acne_treatment_pads.html
I started using these about a week ago and was totally stunned with the difference to my face. They exfoliate gently, and they have 2% salicylic acid, which is gentle enough that it doesn't dry your face out.

A big mistake a lot of people make with acne is they use a lot of harsh treatments, and avoid using anything oil-based. When you dry your face out like that, your skin starts overproducing its natural oils, which clogs your pores and causes acne. I use Josie Maran Argan Oil on my face twice a day: http://sephora.com/browse/product.jh...egoryId=C19270
I use five drops at a time, after I cleanse and tone and use those pads, but before I moisturize. It's made a huge difference. I used to have very dry skin all over, but major blackheads on my chin, and zits on my forehead. Now my skin is very soft and smooth, and I don't even get zits during my period anymore.

    Just FYI

Baking soda will dry my skin on occasion..if I use it as a mask! If I use the baking soda just for a light washing, I usually end up with no dryness.

The lemons do not seem to dry out my skin at all, as a matter of fact they leave my skin feeling moisturized and very soft!!! It definately tightens the pores and can dry out certain types of skin, but not mine apparently! The lemon juice does, however, burn a bit on occasion.

I use extra virgin olive oil to moisturize my skin when it is dry. I will apply the evoo with a little bit of water to make it easier to spread. On occasion, I will use a hot cloth to steam my face after, this helps skin absorb the moisture!

There are alot of how-to's about a routine using baking soda to exfoliate, castor oil to deep cleanse, and lemon juice to treat acne scars on ehow, etc. Check them out! This has been the simplest routine for me! I use castor oil (aka oil cleansing) once to twice a week as a deep mask/cleanser, baking soda as a natural cleanser throughout the rest of the week, and evoo to moisturize and the lemon juice and I have had wonderful results!

WARNING: LEMONS CAN MAKE SKIN SENSITIVE TO THE SUN SO BE SURE TO USE YOUR SPF AND AVOID UNNECESSARY EXPOSURE! I usually use my lemon treatment at night, rinse off in shower in morning to avoid going out in the sun with the lemon juice on my skin, and I have not had an issue with sunburn/sun sensitive skin. I do tan on occasion.

^It's amazing as a toner. I noticed a small difference overnight, and a larger, noticeable difference in the texture and suppilty of my skin within 1 week.

If you can't find it in stores (I had a hard time too!) try ordering it online. I know some people who are really hardcore about it being 'all natural' make their own out of boiling the root of the plant....I'm not that committed.

You can find Witch Hazel near the rubbing alcohol in almost any grocery or drugstore.

^ I think it depends on your area. I've been to some Walgreens that have never heard of it, and others who have 3 or more brands.

Also, where I live it's difficult to find.

I have started on rose hip oil, which my pharmacist recommended. If I remember, I'll keep you posted, but at this stage I can only tell you that it's supposed to be excellent.
