    Default Overweight strippers...

Are there actually any places that will hire someone who is overweight, to strip? 5'7 and about 195.. I have looked into it for a long time now, but this is the first opportunity Ive had to "go for it".. I plan on completely changing my diet, as well as exercise program.. Didnt know if there may be anywhere I could jump in and start now...while im working on dropping pounds...Thanks!

    Probably a dive-y club.

The upscale clubs generally want you to be slimmer, but will still hire one or two 'bigger dancers' (although, not as big as the stats you listed) because some men like fuller figured women. Once you've lost 30 lbs, you'll probably get hired at a more moderate club. Also, proportions are important. If you're an hourglass shape you'll be better off than if you were all hips and no tits.

Don't expect to make a killing at first; being a bigger dancer means you have to have a killer hustle, and as a newbie your hustle will not be strong. But you'll make some cash and get used to the environment.

I wasn't overweight when I was dancing, but I was on the cusp for a while - 160ish at 5'7" - and I was usually the biggest dancer in my club during that period. I lost weight, and made more money again.

If you state your area there might be some girls who could give you location advice. We've got ladies on here all over US, Canada, and many in Australia and the UK....But only if you're comfortable doing so.

Part depends on where and how you carry your weight. A BBW with huge boobs and ass is more welcome than a big girl who is all gut. Even then, 195 is really pushing it. I'd say for the most part you need to lose at least 30 pounds before you are ready. Possibly more if you are apple shaped as opposed to hourglass.

Yeah, at 195, 30 lbs of fat loss would be necessary for working at a moderately nice club (in my area), and that's only assuming the woman in question has a great figure and face to boot. To actually make money once you've lost those 30 lbs you would need to have a very good hustle and be comfortable with your niche market (which would be men who like larger women) and know how to pick them out.

But, if the OP is confidant, there's no reason why she can't accustom herself to the club life now if she find a place she's comfortable working. There are some BBW's who chose to dance and not lose weight, but I don't know of any in my area.

Not trying to be bitchy or mean, but I've been there. In fact, I'm not working right now becasue I'm too heavy.

There is a niche for overweight girls. It's not a big one, but I have seen some larger girls make money. I worked with an absolute angel who was a plus sized porn star when she wasn't stripping. She flaunted her weight and put on an amazing show. It wasn't suited for everyone's taste, but she carried herself with so much confidence that you couldn't help but love her. Honestly, I have to say that you shouldn't get your hopes up. It's all in how you carry the weight. Very few full figured women pull it off gracefully enough to make a living as an adult entertainer. If your mind is set, go for it. Brace yourself, though. It's going to be rough. Having said that, I do wish you the best.

Edit: Another option that you may not have considered is signing up with a burlesque troupe. They tend to be a bit more robust in figure, and you can keep a corset on to help keep your body more proportioned while you lose the weight.

Yeah...one of the clubs in St. Pete hires only plus-sized girls. I don't know anything about it really, but I keep seeing their ad on craigslist. http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/fbh/2314944986.html

I travel about an hour and a half away from where I live in another state. I heard Legz in Martinsburg hires bigger girls.

    hey hun,
if youre looking for something interesting to read....
i highly recommend the book "the 4 hour body"

basically he does experiments on different methods- from losing weight to gaining muscle and shows you with data what works and what doesn't.

maybe you can cam while losing weight? lots of girls cam (all different body types and ages) maybe its something you can make money with while getting ready for stripping.

check out the other work thread if youre interested or use the search function. It can be very lucrative.

Unfortunately larger girls aren't hired as much, and by larger it often doesn't mean larger in real life. I am the same height as you OP and even when I was 145 pounds I still had problems (and I am more muscular than flabby). It often depends on where you are larger too. I tend to gain weight in my stomach while my arms and legs stay lean and this has always hurt me.

I would try a dive club though because they tend to be more forgiving.

Hm well I when I first decided I was going to try dancing this time last year, I was around 190 and at your height. As soon as classes were done I fixed up my diet and started cardio 4 or 5x a week for 45 minutes-and hour and started doing pilates excersises 3x a week, I started dancing after I lost 15 pounds, lost 5 more and have kind of levelled at that during this year. You probably want to put in some work on your figure, even if you lose a bit you'll probably feel a lot more confident, and like the other girls have said, confidence is key. And it does depend on your body composition--frame size, body fat %, shape. I think I can get away with being bigger because I'm more hour-glassy (40-31-40), and have a big frame to match it (7" wrists lol bigger than my boy's...) Get to know your body in calculating your bf% so you know how much weight you should lose...I wanna lose 10-15 more pounds this summer to put me around 15%bf then that'll be it I think. What's the lowest your weight has been in the past? You can tell a lot from that, if you've been consistently heavier your whole life, even when you've been in better shape, don't expect to weigh 125 pounds. On the other hand, if you've been way smaller in the past, then you'll probably look better at a lower weight and the weight should come off quickly if you make some changes.

And you can still make money if you're heavier with pretty make-up and nicely styled hair and outfits. Wear a nice dress, make nice conversation, flirt. Starting a dive can be fun anyways, most of the time people are nicer and it feels more like a family, you might never want to leave! So yeah, I say, diet a bit, then give it a go. You'll never know if you'll even like stripping until you try it

Agreed. 195 is pretty large. My husband is 6'5" and only 5lbs more than that. At 5'7", I'd say 150 - 160 is going to put a girl in the top few heaviest girls there. I know a few chubby chasers, but they definitely aren't the norm.

Knockouts would take her....It's in Albuquerque, but they have girls bigger than you dancing, trust me. You may or may not be confined to dayshift but I think they'll take you. and if you're white +1. Also there are a few dive bars in Springfield MO, that I can recommend as well as El Paso TX.

Just FYI, these are dive bars.

I agree here and also want to point out that if you do manage to get hired you are going to be expected to put up with a LOT! I don't think I've ever danced with a girl who weighed more than about 140-150, and those girls were 6ftish. Of course, the hiring standards have changed pretty significantly since I retired. Most places no longer put you on a scale every week or have fat probation or anything like that.

I am only 4'10" but for reference I wouldn't audition if I was over about 105 at a dive about 90lbs at a mid-upscale club (and I'm in shape, and carry muscle not flab).

(Go ahead and flame me now girls. I know someone is going to. I'm not even saying she shouldn't audition, just that she is going to be expected to deal with a LOT of shit at that weight and I don't think any woman should walk into that without a clue of what to reasonably expect. A few chubby chasers will be kind, but most guys will heckle or expect full service for next to nothing.)

There is no reason for your response to be flamed princessjas. I totally agree - you are being honest.

It's one thing to be gentle and to word yourself in a way that will not hurt someone; it is another to avoid telling the truth to spare someone's feelings. I think that the responses here have been mostly honest. The OPs weight is just too high for dancing. This IS an image-based business...hell, we have a whole board devoted to it (body business). Maintaining your look is vital... most of us regularly work out and eat right. I slather on sunscreen and only drink rarely. I take vitamins and supplements daily. That is a self-expectation. A stripper who does not take care of his/her body (in my opinion) would be akin to being a mechanic without tools. It just wouldn't make sense.

To the OP - IF you got hired somewhere, you would have to have incredibly thick skin, because the above post is correct. You prob would get a lot of negative reaction. If you truly want to be a dancer, get in shape, lose the weight, then take your sexy self to a club and make your money.

I think that would be great motivation to hit the gym Good luck

You're preaching to the choir here. You know I agree with you, and more besides. this is an image based business but these days it seems that going to the gym 5x a week, doing my hair and nails and looking good is all in vain.

Hell, I think I'm a bit overweight, and I'm a size 3/5. The main problem is I have a big ass but a small waist, so I can hike pants up until they hit my ass then its a no-go.

Right there with you girl! I'm a size 1/3 atm and not happy with it! I've got hips AND a bubble butt though, so it's hard to stay really thin! People tell me to cut out the stairmaster, but my ass can be big and flabby or big and tight, so I keep on climbing.

My ideal BMI/weight is 100 llbs. I'm hitting the gym 5x a week. However, I should point out that no matter how much FAT one loses you cannot alter your basic body type.

I have what is termed a "Gibson girl" figure (someone told me that the other day) So even if I do drop the last 10-15 llbs I'm still gonna have issues with pants and my waist to hip ratio.

^^That's why I ignore them when they tell me stopping my stairmaster routine will magically shrink my ass. Sometimes I wonder where people get their info! I use the stairmaster, walking and weights to keep down my weight and bodyfat and stay (well get back into ) in shape, but have no illusions I'm suddenly gonna have skinny legs and a small ass.

They have hired some big big girls here as it's a small club/dive, but at a certain weight they will not let you on stage (becuz it's a small stage runway over a bar with bartenders moving around right by you so there is not much room for them if they can't walk around you) & onto of it you will here lots of bad jokes & nasty comments from bosses, coworkers, & customers. However regular big chunky thick girl do make money & can bank here cuz hispanics in Miami like them thicker then some other places in the states.

Unfortunately I don't work at a club with a scale or much standards, but I make mine there 4 a reason & more power to those others at my club who do. I do think alot of girls should just quit since they aren't cutting it & lower the bar, but oh well.

There was a girl at my club called babyphat who was more just plain fat, but whatever she complained that they picked on her weight & wouldn't let her on stage. On some level she was right about them discriminating her (I have seen bigger girls on our stage be4 who were treated better--but made them more) however she was young & they wanted to push her into making more & losing the weight which she never cared to even try eating junk the whole shift. Now yes it's 1 thing when I do it cuz I'm 118lbs 36, 26, 36 I'm a calorie burning machine with a decent body for dancing naked, but it's not the career to be bbw if your not making yourself or the club money.

You can always try & get if you make money more power to you, but if you can't get hired or make money becuz of your weight then maybe stripping is not for you.

You're best bet is to just call around and ask. Every area caters to each type differently. You might have more luck getting hired at a dive but you never know, you could be exactly what an upscale club needs and make bank. I worked with a girl that was 5'6" at 170-180 and she banked, and this was at an upscale club. Very impressive. It's a possibility.

I reallyyyy appreciate all the different options and opinions you all have given me! I am working out and eating healthy...the weight will come off, but it will probably be slowly.. and Ive never been a *small* girl, so I want to be realistic when trying to get to a certain weight.. I was going to post a picture, just to give you guys an idea of what I look like vs just saying "yeah, im pretty" or "ehhh, not really" and give yall the wrong idea..lol, anyway, Im not sure how to post it exactly...or how secure it is to post on here... Also, just wanted to add that Im very outgoing and would hustle my ass off, lol...so being shy or nervous wouldnt be a big issue for me.. Thanks again!
