has anyone tried? is it a waste of money?
I always use body scrub ones a week or so to remove dead skin. I have bought a body polish but it was more oily and made my skin feel more greasy so I stayed away from that. The scrub is good to remove dead skin cells, and good for clearing it.

I think scrub is better
I make my own scrub and it works really well. I mix honey and sugar together with a bit of cetaphil. You can adjust the amount of sugar depending on how "scruby" you want it to be. Honey is a humectant, so not only does the scrub remove dead skin, but it's hydrating too! I use it on my face too...just with a little more honey and less sugar. It's cheap, makes my skin really soft and smooth, and it tastes good![]()
Scrubs are a really, really great idea, especially if you tan. Your body deserves just as much attention as your face, but often gets overlooked.
I use Sara Happ Vanilla Bean Body Scrub: http://www.sarahapp.com/products_det...?productsid=10 It's fairly expensive ($50 for 10 oz.) but it's a huge treat for me. It smells soooo nice, not like cheap super sweet vanilla like the Warm Vanilla Sugar at Bath & Body Works (I hate that stuff) but like REAL vanilla, not overly sweet, but very rich. It moisturizes really well, too, so my skin is always really really soft and smooth after I use it.
I also like Caudalie Crushed Cabernet Scrub: http://sephora.com/browse/product.jh...ategoryId=4171
It's got a really nice, albeit unusual, smell...it really does kind of smell like wine, but not in a weird or bad way.
You should really be exfoliating at LEAST once a week...probably more, but certainly no less.

oh sorry i shud have been more clear. i mean the one the offer at spas. my spa des a body polish for 60. would it be the same as doing it myself?

Those body polish sold at exorbitant prices at spas and kiosks are a waste to me. I love to polish/exfolitate/etc. Exfoliating is the most important step to get off dead skin. Doing that alone will help your favorite lotion sink in even better and look better. Just buying a body polish won't necessarily scrub your skin for you, unless you are using a rag, loofah, etc to work it in.
Of course if you use it as a body treatment, unwind or pamper yourself then it helps. I just think there are cheaper alternatives than some marked up body polish from a spa. I use one I bought from Soap & Glory at Target that I love, but I also have the higher end type from Caudalie that Firemaiden posted above. It's my special occasion scrub, and I love the Caudaulie brand so it works for me.

Scrubs at spas are a nice luxury, but I wouldn't rely on them regularly unless you have money to burn. You can get the same results with an at-home scrub. The only thing you'll get at a spa is someone who can scrub all the places on your back that you can't reach yourself.

I don't know if you can use it for the body, but there's one @ Sally's I always use their tester: It's a Tahatian (sp) in a tube, white/yellow/brown color packaging, it's made for your hands. It's a fine scrub, & can be used without water, I just love it! Makes my hands so soft, including raggety edges around the sides of my nails. I just put it on, rub my hands, then carefully dust off. They also make a body butter too, I don't know how that is, or if they have a body scrub.

Scrub-a-dub-dub! I'm all about exfoliation!
I suggest trying your spa's options. See which one you like... I dunno much about 'polish' but body scrubs usually involve grainy salt or sugar. I am a sensitive caterpillar... and I know that salt scrubs STING like Hell! Other folks don't always react the same way... so take that with a grain of salt (LOL).
Ok. So... considering I never attempted this procedure at a spa I highly advise you to try it out. Ask some questions: What's in this scrub? What does it contain? What are the ingredients? What is it supposed to do exactly? What are my options? What makes it effective?
Then relax and enjoy the procedure. But! While you're getting scrubbed down, pay a bit of attention to what the technician is doing. Is she going fast/slow/in circles/using a sponge or implement of some sort/etc. ? How long do they leave the scrub on? How do they wash it off? What do they apply to your skin afterwards?
Now with this knowledge in hand, you will be able to replicate at least most of the aspects of this procedure at home.... for free or cheap! But it's good to get some perspective.
Also.... if you need a BANGIN' body scrub recipe for the future, I will be happy to post it.![]()
