Default Contract Xchange and other Work-At-Home Jobs

Has anyone worked for this company? How hard is it to get hired by them? I'm in the U.S. and I'm not finished with school yet, so I don't really have any certifications other than my h.s. diploma of course. I'm starting to look into non-adult related online/work at home jobs, so if any of you know of any legit opportunities that don't require a lot of professional credentials I would really appreciate it if you discuss them here! (Or you can send me a PM if you want to I recently found out about an opportunity from a friend that generates a legitimate come stream w/o a whole lot of effort and I'm really excited about it but I'm doing more thorough research about it before I present it to you all. Hopefully some of you will be interested and want to sign up under me!
I would also be willing to return the favor if any of you need to refer people for your affiliate programs Anyway, can't wait to hear more about your experiences!

Here is a website that will help: www.workplacelikehome.com

It is a forum of people talking about the various at home work.
I work from home doing customer service and I have to say it has it's ups: No gas to spend, work in pajamas, pick own hours, etc.
But the downs are that so many people are doing this now, that it can be hard to pick up hours and even get hired.

I thought I read that you're in school, so am I, about to graduate with a degree in Psychology at the end of the summer, so I understand the need to work from home...no matter what the job.

    Try this other site:
    www.ratracerebellion.com
(It gives you a list of at home work based on your qualifications)

My sister works through them. It's a good reliable job she got through them, but the pay is very low.

^There are hundreds of jobs and miscellaneous money making opps here. They are not up to date but they are a good starting point. I am in the process of weeding out all the "dead leads" and bad apples and I'm listing them on my own website. I'll be sure to share the link when I have a lot more up.

I know someone who works at Contract Xchange...its easy work, but yeah the pay sucks. He gets 50cents a call and some nites he only gets like 6-8 calls an hour. Its good supplemental income if you're camming or whatever and want to multitask but its not a fulltime job.

Not at all, as long as you have the money to start up with them. Here in Canada its around $300 to get the training you need.

There are other workathome jobs like westathome.com that doesn't require you to pay for training. They hired me but I never went through with it.

West now requires you to pay for your own background check, which is not much. Under $40 I believe, and they do not like to be mentioned on any social networks, Just to let pple know.

Also I have NEVER had to pay to work for a work at home company. One of the biggest rules out there, that most at home workers know, is never pay to work for these companies. I am not speaking specifically on Contract Xchange, because I have never researched them. So I can't judge their hiring process.

I would suggest that people who are serious about this type of work, go to www.workplacelikehome.com and read read read. That work at home forum has been mentioned a lot here. You will seriously learn a lot from searching that forum.

Again, I have NEVER heard of a legit company making you pay for anything other than a background check. And not all companies even make you pay for that!

West will also waive the background check fee if you express to them that you are struggling financially. Worked for a friend of mine.

BustyAmeera is spot on about not paying to work.

That' great to know! I bet a lot of pple don't know that bit of info.

I was hired years ago before they started to charge the background fee.

Sign up for Lionbridge technologies or Butler Hill. Both companies offer translation and search engine rating services. I work for LB. It's mind numbing but they pay well (obviously NOWHERE near as good as camming!!). Most people do the rating, unless you're fluent in other languages (you also have to be resident in that country).

The best non-adult related work i can suggest though, is working for yourself as a freelance telesales rep, admin assistant, marketing assistant, copywriter, proof editor etc. Sites like peopleperhour and elancer are great for picking up work of this kind.

My NUMBER ONE site for tips on work from home and upping your income is moneysavingexpert.com. Honestly I couldn't LIVE without that site :p lol

I work for Leapforce (similar to Lionbridge and Butler Hill) and I really like it. It pays better than any job I've ever had. It does get mind numbing like you said but it's still a good job.

Tommorow I have my phone interview wiht Alpine Access, and as for contractchange the reason you have to pay for training and access to the contract xchange network it is becuase they have to liscence the software.

contractxchange has made their own online network which is why your paying $75 as a new agent.

Then after that dpeneding on which contract invites you to work the trianing cost $200 to $300 which is tax deductable.

NEVER work for a company asking for startup, training, or any other costs. They are scams. It still surprises me that so many people fall for it when there are so many legitimate work from home opps (the most obvious being of course, freelancing in something you specialise in). Not trying to put your choice down at all Angel, just hoping you see there are far better options.

Well, this is true in most cases, but not in the case of Contractxchange. I know several who have gotten positions with companies through them and these are legitimate jobs with real companies. Problem is the low pay.

It'd have to be one of the higher paying positions (usually these go to people who are bilingual - a lot of call for French and Spanish) to make it worth it though.

Another exception would be if you are interested in management. Takes a few years to work your way up but the higher ups do get a little better pay and benefits (still not worth the headaches to me though. I'm just not suited for management/corporate stuff).

Pay to join them then get low pay?!! It may not be a scam but it certainly doesn't make business sense.

Look up Lionbridge, they are the best of the current work from home opportunities and completely free to work for (although tough to get into).

The reason the pay is low is because your not an employee of the companies and they are only hiring people to answer phones or make calls during the peak periods.

unless your on a higher paying poisition which contractxchange has no point in going over the details of contractxchange if so many people are going to talk about them and don't know anything about them.

at first before I joined contractxchange i was skeptic, but since my dad's friend has been working with them from the start of this company opening she told me everything i need to know is now one of the system trainers.

Yeah, most of the WAH companies I've seen really screw people over because they know for every person with standards, there are a thousand stay at home mommies that will work for peanuts. Take for instance, ChaCha. I have NO CLUE why people want to work there. I worked there when they first came out and I got paid 20 cents per question and STILL barely made $5-6 per hour. They have since dropped the pay rate and people are still working there and even lining up to work there. I seriously don't get some people.

If you try Lionbridge and can't get in, try Leapforce. They do pretty much the same work but with unlimited hours and it's easier to get in. There are some downsides but overall a good place to work, IMO.

You're not the only one. What is 20 cents and $5? That time they are wasting doing things like ChaCha they can be camming or doing something else much more profitable.. *sigh*. I have been wondering the same thing. I know they say it's just passive income but I think it's just ridiculous. I just became a yahoo contributor. The first article I wrote was about webcam modeling and I got paid $20 for it. The more people the visit my article the more I get paid. THAT is passive income. I rather write an article and get between $20-$100 than send meaningless text messages for 20 cents. I just don't get it.
