    Default e-ciggies/vapor cigs

Myterrible habit: smoking I have been smoking for almost 15 years and I am only 28. I want to try an alternative: e cigaretts.

I know some e cigaretts still contain nicotene, but it seems it could be a bit healthier then smoking real cigaretts. I'd like to start off with an ecig with a high dose of nicotene, and work my way down to lower doses, and eventually one that contains NO nicotene whatsoever. IF I get that craving mos down the road, then I can take a puff of a no nicotene ecigarette with no guilt

I'd like to know if any of you have tried these ecigarettes. Have they helped you quit smoking? Are you now addicted to smoking e cigaretts?

Did you like/dislike them and why.

I am curious but want a few REAL opinions that are not out of infomercials and product reviews. I have heard both good and bad, alot having to do with the e cigarette not being a strong enough to give you a good throat hit like a cigarette. I smoke medium/light menthols now.

I'm right in the middle of quitting smoking - and there's a Thread about it here:

Several folks have posted about these E-Ciggies hun, so you may want to take a look. They are kind of nicotine inhalers, and apparently they're excellent.

bought some ecigs from americaneliquid for someone, and then again for my boyfriend.

Delicious flavors like Blackberry champagne! the downsides for them was that you had to play with the nicotine levels and the type (PG or VG) to get the right "hit." Check out the forum and they should be able to help you research what you want to try.

I also favor (when I've bought them for others) made in the USA because there's a lot of Made in China products and I just don't trust that.

I haven't used one but know someone who does and they really look real! They used it to cut back and save money. The end lights up when you inhale and the vapor resembles smoke. I am only an occasional social smoker but I am really tempted to get the nicotine free ones too

You might want to scope out this abstract about ginseng, nicotine, and dopamine too:

Ginseng total saponin inhibits nicotine-induced hyperactivity and conditioned place preference in mice

I've had my e-cig for about a year. I like litecigusa.net for my supplies -- they still get their stuff from china, but I have never had a problem with them and they're dirt cheap.

If you're just starting out, get either a 510 model or a KR808 (I think that's what it's called). They're both simple and reliable without as much fiddling around as a lot of the other models. You can get the 808 styles with a white diamond light up tip, which is fun.

They work great if you're dedicated. A year later I go weeks without smoking a real cigarette, but I still break down once in a while at the bar. I would look at it as harm reduction rather than a real quitting tool, because at least for me, the hand-to-mouth habit is still there. But I feel a thousand times better and healthier than I have in years, can taste things again and no more smoker's cough.

There isn't a ton of research out there yet on how safe these really are, but if you trust my anecdotal evidence, they're much better for you than the real thing and I've had no problems.

Try going to e-cigaretteforum.com, you'll find *tons* of information there. Good luck!

edit: side note: They're also a great conversation starter at the club, since you can sit at the bar and "smoke" and people wonder what the heck you're doing.

I quit about a year and a half ago. I tried the patch, candy, gum etc. etc. The only thing substitutes for cigs do is create another addiction. I recall a talk show (Dr Phil I believe) where this couple was having issues and the one problem the wife was complaining about was her hubby's disgusting nicotine gum habit! He chewed it non stop and although he quit smoking this was creating almost as many problems not only with his social/marital relationship but also health issues.

Anyway....cold turkey. Break the habit first and the actual NICOTINE addiction can be completely broken within a week. Actually I think it was probably sooner. You actually feel the poison leaving your body. Kinda cool in a twisted sorta way.

Yeah so that's what ya gotta do. Nicotine substitutes keep just enough of it in your system to keep you hooked and prolongs the withdraw symptoms.

Slowly break the HABIT until your down to one or less a day. After that its actually EASIER to just quit. The actual act of smoking is the hardest part of the addiction to break.

Sorry I know I got side tracked on this but I honestly just think e/vapor cigs are an expensive way to keep you hooked on cigs.

Something I read about e-cigs that I found to be true... that if you are a regular smoker, you actually end up smoking much less and then not at all..not even out of trying to, you just do. And if you are not a regular smoker, barely at all, you will end up smoking your e-cig more.

I started using e-cigs a little over 2 years ago...my bf at the time thought it was a stroke of genuis and got one for himself too. Fast forward to now...I went from being an over a pack a day smoker, to maybe half a pack a day (yeah, I went back to the real thing) and even then, I can go several days and not miss it at all.

My ex on the other hand would only smoke a cigarello maybe once a month when I met him...now he has about 3 different types of ecigs, with boxes and boxes of flavours...and never ever leaves the house without one...he will even pull one out while working and the restaurants he eats at all are used to him using it now. All nicotine free btw.

If I really wanted to quit, (its just not that time) Im sure of it that ecigs would be the way to go. Not even sure why that is...just for whatever reason, it just works. In the meantime, nothing smells of cigarettes, you just feel cleaner and better too. I may start using them again, just for the sake of being able to smoke before or between dates...I still get a bit of nerves and tend to curse myself out for not even being able to have a smoke before I see them. (I dont smoke at least 3 hours before a date....)

Just..keep it away from non smokers LoL
