Default How do nude dancers go about hair removal?

I was just wondering how dancers who work at all-nude clubs go about pubic hair removal (if you do remove it). I work in a topless-only club so thank god I haven't had to figure it out out of necessity... but I would really like some insight on this. I've tried waxing before and it's the only thing that seems to make me completely smooth, but of course, if you wax, you have that 2 week time period where you have to let it grow out so you can wax again... which just looks and feels gnarly to me so I've stopped doing that. I shave now... but I have very dark, coarse hair and it never looks as smooth and bare as it did with waxing. My legs are like that too but it's less noticeable on them.

So how do you girls who have to keep that area looking nice go about it?

I shave every night I work, pretty sure this is how most girls keep tidy down there. I've also had a few laser treatments (need to do a few more) and it definitely makes a difference.

Ya i shave also but the ONLY one that seem to work for me and dont give me ingrown hairs or shave bumps are the venus razors...not the disposable but the good ones. Love them but eventually i want to get the laser hair removal.

I've worked at a nude club my whole career as a dancer. Here is some of what I have learned throughout the six-ish years I've been a stripper.

Laser Hair removal is the #1 way to get rid of it. Even if your treatments fail to get all the hair off, it will think it out and make shaving and maintence sooo much easier. But schedule your appts with at least a day in between shifts, since the skin can become red and/or sensitive. My first treatment, it looked like WWIII down there!

Don't use Nair down there. The risk of irritation is too high and noticable. You can use it like on the top portion, but don't use it on the labia.

Shaving is the next best option. If you are at risk for ingrowns, TendSkin really helps, as does Tea Tree oil and Witch Hazel. A gentle exofoliator is also a good bet. And use shaving cream!

Shaving it all off can be difficult. If you're really worried, a mirror helps. And be careful since the last thing you want is a cut.

Waxing is ok, but as the OP said, that period in-between waxings can be a problem. You can try shaving in between, but it might mess up the re-growth process. I'd jus stick to shaving if at all possible.

    Hope this helps a bit.

Laser sounds like a great idea, and well worth the cost!!

I just shave but it is really harsh on the skin if you have to do it everyday. Neosporin helps a lot.

I have a method of shaving to minimize cuts and ingrown hairs - if you shave down (with the hair) first, then diagonally down both directions, then straight across both directions then, diagonally up both directions, then straight up (if it's not too painful) all the while pulling the skin tight you can get a really close shave without the razor burn.

Though yeah, laser treatment probably better if you can afford it, though even then you have to shave while waiting to get all your treatments.

I had my first laser appointment about 3 weeks ago for an extended Brazilian. The pain was tolerable, but a little more than I anticipated. Its well worth it of course. I am incredibly surprised by how much the hair has been reduced with only one treatment. I have dark hair and light skin, so I am the perfect candidate. But seriously, after one treatment, the area is totally patchy and won't grow back full like before. I am so excited to see how much disappears after the next treatment! I also went through Living Social, but had to buy 2 $100 bikini packages to do the Brazilian (6 sessions). Scope out those online deals. Its definitely the way to go!

Just like little needles pricking you every once in a while. After it is over there is no residual pain, no soreness, etc, and the entire area is mildly red for a day.

miss1dancypants- did you get extended brazilian or just your bikini line lasered? At my clinic, your bikini line only costs 99 but extended brazilian costs 195 and IMO it is definitely worth it to get the extended brazilian, especially if you work nude.

Also, ALWAYS check out reviews of the clinic you are going to. When I was looking up clinics there were a few who had a ton of reviews that they got burned with the laser-not good! So don't use the coupons just because they're there, pick a good clinic THEN look for coupons.
yes, i am getting the brazillian and i am VERY happy for the results.. obviously everyone wants to pay less but even with the amount of $ i spent it was WELL WORTH IT.

well before laser was afforable where i was at the time or i dont even remember knowing about it. (sad) LMAO. I shaved and I hated it but trimmed also, shaving irritated me and a friend told me to put baby power there after. It was one of the best tricks someone ever told me, coz at the time I was working 6 nights a week in Japan. Also I plucked with tweezers.

Now after having laser, theres nothing better esp for me the worst place was my underarms i always got rashes, but after getting laser there and on my bikini line i was so happy.

Thank you, everyone! I am definitely looking into laser hair removal now. It will take me awhile to save up the money for it, but I've been thinking about it a long time. I'm a shaving freak and absolutely hate stubble. Any money I spend on laser hair removal will definitely be worth it for me, and I'm now signed up on livingsocial and groupon to keep an eye out for any deals.

And I will definitely try this! This sounds promising.

I shave. I use the mens Mach3 razor and that's the only razor that has really worked for me. But it gets me completely smooth and I'm able to shave every single day without getting more than one small bump every now and again (like every two weeks or something like that, and that's usually from when I'm in a hurry and not being patient about it).

I just use regular soap (not shaving cream) and the razor takes care of everything else! Definitely always go with the grain of your hair, going up tends to be something that I hear a lot of girls doing and for most of them it results in more razor burn than anything else. But if you're one of the lucky few that can do it - good for you!
