I believe there is a God. I knw nothing about GOd,I don't claim to know anything about God either. I prefer to admire the things he/she has created for us,like nature. I believe in doing good, and I believe in Karma.
That's about it. I'm pretty open minded about the whole God thing. im just not radical.
I is a mommy.09.27.09

I do.

Yes, I believe in God.

Nope, never believed, not even as a child.
Yes I do.I believe there is a God and I have faith in him.

Nope.
With the presence of an all-knowing, all-powerful God, I have more issues than I can think of, but some at the top of the list are: (1) Free will sucks. I'll gladly take brainwashed and blissfully happy, please! (2) A random person off the street, given about 15 minutes, could come up with 10 better rules to live our lives by than this "all-knowing" God's list of mostly stupid commandments. (3) If God gave us free will, than God is at fault for all good/neutral/evil things we do, not us. I create a robot that goes on a killing spree, my ass is on the line, not the robot's. So God's got some fuckin' explaining to do before I kick him/her in the teeth. (4) If real, I hate God. God is supposedly a good guy. That kind of makes me a bad guy. I'd rather that God is not real than that I'm a bad guy.

Nope. I think it does life a service to affirm that it has intrinsic meaning enough that it doesn't require external constructions (i.e. fairy tales) to legitimize it. But the fairy tales can be kind of cool.

I voted yes, but I don't believe the whole Christianity thing about God if you know what I mean. I believe in a higher power that is superior to us and that created us and is in charge of the universe. I don't believe whoever God is would send a person to an awful hell for not being "saved" and all of this other stuff, or sinning without asking for forgiveness if you are genuinely a good person, etc. More like reincarnation with your karma staying with you forever, a lot of my beliefs are Buddhist with having a higher power above us.
I vote yes

I voted not sure. Do I believe that there is something out there? I guess that I do. But to be honest, I have to many real life issues that come before wondering about something that I'll never truly figure out. I live my life and try to be the best person I can be and make the world a better place regardless of afterlife bliss... if there is a god and an afterlife hopefully he respects that enough to give me a pass. If not, then that's not the kind of god I want to believe in anyway.
I, of course, voted yes and all I have to say is... "If you don't believe in something, you'll fall for anything."

i voted not sure. i dont think that we can use natural evidence to prove or disprove the existence of a supernatural being. it does not logically make sense. i think if more people were willing to admit that they dont really fucking know whether or not there is a god, gods, and certainly not which specific god(s), then the world would be a better place.
and this goes BOTH ways. both to the die hard religious fanatics who are unwilling to admit the slightest possibility that they are wrong and the diehard atheists that look down on anyone who believes there might be a god. you guys are all jackasses. believe what you want or dont believe what you want... just shut the fuck up and acknowledge that this is too big of a topic for you possibly to know everything about and there is a pretty good chance that you are wrong.
that is all.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.
I believe in God. I also feel that believing in God doesn't mean you have to subscribe to a certain religion. The notion of God & the heavens is all faith based so I say believe what your faith & intuition tell you to. It really is a personal thing.
Follow your heart and do what feels right for you, because that’s living. Everything else is dying.
“Things may come to those who wait…but only the things left by those who hustle.”

I believe in the possibility of a higher power but the term 'god' brings about too many christian connotations for my liking. I spent many hours pondering this when I was younger but eventually came to the conclusion that it doesn't really matter, I live what I consider a good life - I enjoy myself without harming others and help people when I can and the existence or non-existence of a god isn't going to change that.
I was going to vote but there was no Don't Care option.
I voted no. I have my own beliefs that include deities of a sort, but they're one with the Earth. I do not believe in the Christian god. Not only does the religion kind of make no sense, if you take it at face value, that god is a fucking prick. Look at all the shit he does in the Old Testament! He's spiteful, manipulative, and extremely jealous. He's like an emotionally abusive boyfriend. Fuck that shit.
Nope. I do believe that all living things are connected though and am fairly spiritual.
"I hear you calling and it's needles and pins. I wanna hurt you just to hear you screaming my name...You're poision. but I don't wanna break these chains.... I wanna love you but I'd better not touch."
I believe in a God, not a religion.
I voted, yes,

I voted not sure :-/ cuz too many things have happened in my life that defy explanation. I don't buy into the fire and brimstone stuff, or that the Apocalypse is coming in 15 days.
I just can't say that there is no god with 100% certainty.
"Fake tits are like Kevlar. They don't guarantee your chances of survival but they sure as hell improve it."
Tempest
Not only do i not believe i think the god most people believe in is scary as shit and should be fought against rather than worshiped.
"Well done. Here are the test results: You are a horrible person. I'm serious, that's what it says: 'A horrible person.' We weren't even testing for that."
I'm not trying to argue, I'm just going to simply try to offer you a different perspective from someone who believes in God. I'm not uber religious or anything like that but I pride myself on my faith.
(1) Free will, to me, is being able to choose what to do despite what you're told. I like being able to make decisions based on my "gut," morality, and/or my knowledge, it's what makes us inherently human.
(2) Just because those 10 commandments don't seem very relevant in today's times, the main principles of the scripture are still quite timeless. For example, "Thou shalt not steal" can be interpreted as "If you want to be like God and his people, then you should not steal, it's your choice to show your love for God by not doing this sinful thing."
(3) God IS at fault for all the good/neutral/evil things we do. We have free will and morality thanks to him, so if you choose to sin and you repent, you will be forgiven. He's accepted all of our sins, hence why he died on the cross for us.
(4) I believe God is real and it's your own free will to hate God if you choose to do so. To me, it makes more sense (both spiritually and scientifically) to believe in God rather than reject him. You're obviously allowed to have doubts but there comes a certain point where just having faith should step in.
Just had to add my 2 cents.
Yes BUT I have no pretense to knowing who or what God is. What I don't believe in is man-made RELIGION. For me, they are two totally separate and different things.
Thanx to everybody for all the responses...it's kind of crazy to see all the different perspectives of what's out there and what is not. Here is a lil sample of what I believe-
1. I do believe in God
2. I believe Jesus died on the cross
3. I believe in ghosts, spirits, demons, and gaurdian angels
4. Heaven and Hell
5. Devil
6. I DO NOT believe in reincarnation. I feel that once you die u go into "the light" and are in limbo <--purgatory til judgement day. Now i'm not really sure how ghosts end up being on the earth after they die unless maybe they decide not to go to the light or something. Not sure.
7. As for freewill..this is how i see it...U have God & the devil fighting to have ur soul come judgement day. God gave freewill to do what we want and hopefully still come out on top w/ more ppl in Heaven then Hell. Another words..God gives u a choice and the devil is going to try to make u do bad so it's up to u whether u do wrong or not. I know that kinda sounds preschool but that is the easiest way i could explain it.
8. Oh and one more thing..In the Bible..revelations, it pretty much gives a list of things to happen and after they all happen the Jesus is coming back. Well many on that list has already happened..and i don't see how that's explainable.
SO anyways I'm glad this thread hasn't turned into a huge arguement.Thanx to everyone for being adults about it and just answering the question.

Yup. Atheism masquerading under the guise of rationality is obnoxious (i.e. Richard Dawkins) but one can still have an intuition one way or another even with the full understanding that agnosticism is the only rationally defensible position. This is the basis of faith, thus my own interpretation of atheism is fully faith based. I paused before choosing "no" because of this dichotomy in my thinking, but choose to go with my faith instead which just ekes out my rationality.
I would never defend my position in a philosophical debate, but rather I could discuss my faith philosophically on the condition of assumed premises. That's what Kierkegaard did and it was pretty fucking awesome.
