As some of you know, I'm studying herbalism (but from a scientific POV) and have talked a bit about betulin and betulinic acid before elsewhere. With summer coming up, I thought this medical study would be of interest to some here.

"Betulinic acid, a naturally occurring triterpene found in the bark of the white birch tree, has been demonstrated to induce programmed cell death with melanoma and certain neuroectodermal tumor cells."

However, betulin can also function as a minor allergen, so if you have hay fever sensitivities, that could be a bit unpleasant. (Proceed with caution of course).
