    Default Post baby belly?

15 months ago I gave birth the the most beautiful baby boy! Unfortunately, I can't get rid of the belly. I didn't get any stretch marks but I can not seem to tone the muscle no matter how many crunches I do. I have always been active. I exercise 4-6 days a week, at least 2 strength days. I've recently started wearing a waist cincher a few hours a day, but what's going to happen when I stop? Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

It seems your stomach should have went down by now. After I gave birth it took me 2 weeks or so to get down to the body I had before. I wore a waist cincher for a month or so after the birth, I also breast fed which helped. Is it the lower part of your abdomen?

Yes, the lower abdomen. I breastfed also, and my body basically looks the same as it did before. I just can't seem to flatten by lower belly no matter how many core workouts I do.

It depends if you have lots of loose skin or if it's fat. If it's skin then only something like a laser will tighten it up.
If it's fat you need to lose - I had similar struggles losing my baby weight but am happy to report it's all gone + the horrible lower baby bulge!
I found the ab exercises in the "4 Hour Body" book really good - think they are called the Cat Vomit and one using a half a swiss ball - they get right down into the transverse abdominals which will be the ones you're wanting to strengthen.
I actually loved the whole book - it had a section on losing fat and a section on building muscle so was like my bible for a while!

try work out videos on Toneitup.com. they are all free. This may also have something to do with diet. To have nice visible abs I am pretty sure you need to eat a very low in fat diet.

What seemed to work for me was cutting out all sugar...just drinking water.
Then wearing one of those waist cincher belts (that ones that make you sweat) and jumping rope.
It was never 100% gone (like when I sat down, I still have a little mommy tummy), but it did help a lot.

That's what I'm planning on doing after this one too.

(definitely gonna watch this thread too for other ideas)

    Congratulations on your baby boy!!!

Thanks for the suggestions and support. I think it might be loose skin. After I'm sure it's not fat I might look into that laser. A girl I know did it, said it hurt like nothing on earth and it costs $500 a session, but you should see her abs! And if that doesn't work...implants!!

Have you ever given polework a try? You rely heavily on using your core--so it really helps.

I still have mine and my kids are 5 and 2 )-: It's defo loose skin. Doctor says my abdominal muscles are separated and so only an operation will fix the 'bulge' completely, although laser and core strength may help a bit . Although I'm slim my belly looks around 3-4 months preg at all times, grrrr.

May try laser as don't really want major abdo surgery for something which doesn't cause physical pain.

I had a miscarriage almost two weeks ago. I was about nine weeks pregnant, but I looked like I was at least 16 weeks pregnant; the belly looked rather large and round.

I regained my pre pregnancy shape in about nine days; I still don't know how the hell I recovered that quick, but I think doing planks every other day during the pregnancy made things easier for my ab muscles to recover their shape quickly.

I guess when I get to have a full term pregnancy it won't take me too long to get back to my original shape...
