Question If a book about entertainers was being written, would you share your story?

If the answer is yes, what story would you tell? Here's one of mine...

As clubs go, I worked at a club that was visited by a lot of celebrities. Well, one weekend in particular this famous rapper came in with his entourage. He sat at the edge of the cat walk. As I began to jiggle my goodies and show off my flexibility, he slammed his hand down on the cat walk. I turned and was greeted with a blinged out cheek to cheek grin. He took a deep breath leaned to the left and said "smear it!” I hesitated briefly as I went through a mental rolodex to figure out which move belonged to the extremely unattractive title. I did a split popped my buns and ended with a wiggle which seemed to hit the spot, because immediately after he grunted rubbed his belly and declared "That’s how it’s done!"

I wouldn't really share my 'stories' - I'd keep 'em for my own book. No one else is profiting off of my dancing career but me....

That's understandable... the response has been about 50/50 when I ask others.

I own a small publishing company. Two years ago, I began interviewing dancers for this type of book. I interviewed Russian, white, black, 1 asian and hispanic dancers. I plan to finally publish it some time this year.

Some stories are funny. Uplifting. Scary. Sorrowful. Racial. Some discussed being pimped, beat on, raped and one has a survival story in it regarding cancer. The life of every dancer isn't the same that's for sure.

I'm just grateful that those girls were open to sharing their personal experiences.

    This.

My story is a little to deep. I'd rather write my own book.

I hear that. I saved my personal stories for myself, but the funny stuff I am putting in the book. At least it will bring a little joy, and hopefully show people that we are real people and not just drug addicts and whores. I hope it open a few eyes and maybe even a few hearts.

I think I might write a book one day with my dancing experiences tied into it, I say tied into it because even though I feel it has greatly impacted my life, it's far from the ONLY thing that's greatly impacted my life. But yeah, I'd probably want to keep mine since I have an interest in writing too

I've pretty much said this in the past. I might share a quick snippet if the money was right... but I wouldn't name names.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

I might share a couple of my stories, maybe, dunno. I'd have to mull that one over. But unfortunately, there are already several books out by former strippers, pornstars, etc. Example being 'Candy Girl" by Diablo Cody -it's well written, but the bitch is offensive and pisses me off.

I agree. I have read that book and even "Strip City" is offensive. I am not that keen on these journalists/writers who decide to dance for a year 2 years etc.. just to capitalize off of and embellish their experiences. They make most dancers sound desperate, and even sleazy..And in alot of cases girls I work with have college degrees, are frugal with money, and have other productive things going on in their lives. Not every dancer is on her last leg turning tricks in the parking lot or n the VIP area. I would enjoy reading a book from a dancer who say has been in the business for 20 years and has seen it go through many phases. Not a journalist who although she may be an excellent writer doesnt truly "get"the industry no matter how many experienced dancers she talks to or nights she spends dancing taking notes in the club.

I do realize former dancers/pornstars have written after their careers are over...I have Jenna Jameson's book too..I suppose after a while the novelty wears off. Even though I would have alot of stories so would several other dancers who have danced as long as me...Seems like it would get old.

Agreed. She wasn't even a stripper through all of her experience, remember -she became a peepshow chic halfway through the book. It's as if she doesn't realize the two are very different things, kinda like stripping & webcamming.

Love all of your opinions! I feel the same way about Diablo. There is definitely a fine line between being truthful and being view as a piece of trash. Unfortunately the sigma does exist. Most of the stories in my book are funny as oppose to dirty. Everyone is entitled to there opinion, and I respect that. I hope the people that do read it enjoy it and pass it on. Hopefully I do myself and other entertainers justice by keeping it real and as classy as possible.

I wrote a book a while back about my own story about the experiences of a few other dancers but I've had the worst time getting it published.
