So i just received a notice to serve in Jury Duty, Grrrr.... Desperately looking for an excuse to get out of it. anyhow on the notice there is a form i have to fill out and bring with me the day i serve and 4 of the question's are what is my occupation? employers name? employers address? business telephone? I am a SM performer and i know its not illegal to be a webcam performer but should i really say what i do on this form? Has anyone here had to deal with this issue before?

Occupation: Entertainer, Sales, Sale representative, Online promoter, Marketing exec, Model, << Anyone of those should look ok.
    Self Employed
    Employers name : Your name
    Employers number: Your phone number
    Emploers address: Your address.

    Simple as that.

You might want to check your local laws before filling that form out. Contact PornLaw, but I know their are places where certain restrictions exist about creating adult content, & you don't want to get yourself into trouble.

If you seriously want to get out of jury duty I'd say to verge closer to being "crass" about your work. i.e. webcam sex performer, sexy webcam model, etc.

Here's the thing with jury duty though, while it can take time out of your life & take away from opportunity to work, it's also part of being an American citizen. A good portion of the reason why America has gone to hell in a hand-basket is because people have become so lazy. If we want a successful country we have to take an active role in making it successful, including doing things that we may not want to do.

Also keep in mind that people depend on juries heavily. The wrong jury, or a jury that is swayed one way or the other, can easily make a wrong decision... leaving a person guilty of murder running the streets or a person who has committed no crime behind bars. Sometimes its better to take an active roll in trying to help.

If you change your mind & start seeing participating in jury as patriotic, then take TG's advice & go with a tamed down version of your job description.

I most deff do not want to get myself in trouble that is why i asked how i should fill out the form. PornLaw? how do i go about doing that?

I do understand the importance of participating in jury duty, its just that its my first time ever serving and it sounds scary as heck! first is the kind of case i might have to sit in on and then the whole deciding if that person is guilty or not.... Its alot to worry about but as scary as it might be i will be there and it will be an experience.

I was bummed when I was not selected (after spending most of the day waiting around the courthouse, lol), but I'm not sure how legal it is for other government agencies to examine info from a jury selection form. Saying your self-employed is fine (expect to expand on that if selected) but "adult entertainer" is going to have people think escort/stripper or "worse." It would kick ass if you could just say adult interactive webcasts without feeling like YOUR on trial, lol.

LMAO... but your right, with a title like "web media associate" or some other bland "media relations" title it blends in with what you might see at fortune 500 company. If camming was a religion, you could say it's member/priestess confidentiality! (donations would also be tax-exempt, lol)

I would also put that you are self employed along with entertainer. That way if you are trying to get out of it you can say that you rely on your bookings to make rent and that there is no way you can cancel them without it affecting your ability to pay bills. Another great way to get out of jury duty, I've been doing this for five years: Keep your address in a different county then you live in if possible. That way when you get called for one county you can say you live at the other and when you get called for the other county you can do the same.

If you're self-employed doesn't that automatically make you exempt? Or maybe that's just Canada. Because if you're self-employed YOU are the only one responsible for YOUR income, and them pulling you away from your job for jury duty means you're not earning any money for the duration of your jury duty.

I served as a juror a while back for an attempted murder case. I was hoping to get chosen because I thought it'd be awesome. We were there for a couple days from like 9 AM - 5 PM, but as far as payment we each got a $20 voucher that we had to cash in by walking to some nearby building.

Being a juror is cool, but $20 for the whole day??? SMH.

What does being self employed have to do with it? Here is a radical thought: Check the statutes in your jurisdiction.

I've never heard of that...be nice if that was true for the U.S. too though. Last year I got a jury duty notice, but I got out of it because I was NOT about to have my son be home alone after school. I don't care if other parents let their 8-year olds be home alone...it ain't gonna happen.

So they postponed my jury duty til a later date. I was relieved but still pissed...(Why not just cancel it altogether? Aren't there other people in this county to select?)

They had called me and said I didn't have to go anyway, because they already had enough people.

I think it's terrible to force people to be away from their jobs AND not pay them, after they've been in court all day. I'm in the U.S., and we got paid $20 per day (9AM - 5 PM court days), which is RIDICULOUS, but it was something.

I think that only works if you're the sole owner of a business and if you were to leave for jury duty, your business could not function so theoretically yes, self-employment could get you out of jury duty.

I believe the juror positions in most places used to pay minimum wage, which does bite. An employer can't fire you from your job for filling a jury duty, but they also aren't required to pay you. In other words the best case scenario is if you were on yearly salary & the employer was nice enough to continue paying while you filled jury duty.

    Federal court apparently pays $40

Apparently Arizona was talking about putting their jury duty pay at $300!
