Default How much do you alter your appearance for work?

Since I'm looking to start at a club and was thinking of local, I thought maybe I should rock a wig and change my appearance as much as possible. But if I'm working out of town I'm thinking maybe it is unnecessary.
If you do change your appearance, is it because you don't want people to recognize you, or do certain assets (long hair/blond hair, etc) really help you make more money? Has anyone done tested out to see if they make more money when they do or don't wear fake lashes, extensions, a certain hair color?
I have short dark hair, and I really like it, but my ex husband and basically all guys seemed to have liked my hair better when it was to my waist, so wondering what would be most helpful to me when it comes to making tips.

I know I definitely make more money with extensions.
But that's because I just feel better/sexier with them in.

Extensions and fake eyelashes are a must for me when working.

If YOU really like your short hair, then rock it. You just gotta do what makes you feel confident and sexy. That's what makes the money.

My skin is really sensitive, so if I'm not working or around people where I feel like I need to be "dressed up" I don't wear makeup.

When I work I wear foundation & powder, lip tint & gloss, shimmery eyeshadow primer, eyeliner & lashes. I generally don't wear a lot of makeup though so I don't crack out the blush or eye shadows. My look is very natural, & I dress myself up more with the jewelry, curled hair, & clothes. If you see photos of me anywhere online that isn't totally posed for modeling, I'm probably wearing exactly the makeup that I listed above.

I think trying to disguise yourself in a local strip club is pretty pointless because most people seem to recognize facial structures more than anything. Unless you plan to wear such heavy makeup that you can change all of that, I wouldn't bother. If you don't want to be recognized it's much better to just not dance locally.

I feel like my money improved when I started using tanner and making sure my nails were always done.
But this could also be due to me improving my hustle.

I also recently started wearing false lashes and a little rhinestone jewelery. I think it makes me look more polished and I don't know if it's helping my money but it's helping my confidence which is helping my money

I wear a LOT of makeup at work, plus extensions and fake lashes. It makes me look almost like a different person, but I don't do it for that reason, I just think it looks better in the club. Doing all of the above definitely helps my earnings... I look like a top girl, it draws more attention, and it increases my confidence. The days that I've worked without putting as much effort into my appearance, I've had a harder time making the same amount of money.

There was a time i just wanted to bank so I bought 2000 dollars worth of blonde extensions, bought boobs (that i can't ever undo), dressed super stripperish, worked on a tan, did the whole nails, facial, ect ect routine basically made a fake fem stripper version of myself & it worked to pay bills & keep that lifestyle up as it paid for itself & then some--but I was very unhappy with how it attracted others to me & why they were soo now I stay the stripper version of me that can change out of it once I leave the club cuz for a butch dyke girl to play a barbie well it takes alot of work & acting. Who customers see on stage is not even remotely the real me that rather wear combat boots & am a very no make low maintenance boyish kinda girl when I'm being true to who I really am.

I put on such a big change that girls & others I work with usually don't recognize me before or after I get dressed unless they seen me walk in or out the dressing room before on my free time. However it work great when you don't want customers following you home or recognizing you on the streets.

When I'm working my hair is always peroxide blonde and I fake tan, but these are things I do anyways regardless if I'm working or not.

I've never worked with long hair (just shoulder length) and that works for me since I rock the young, cute, innocent look when working.

I've been wearing eyelash extensions for a month now, but other than that I paint my nails black and maybe wear black lipstick

I wore a wig to work for 2 years straight after a really bad dye job that left my hair fried and I had to crop it off. Years later now, I find that my hairline has a really tough time filling in growth wise.

I used to have the natural look, but I now that I cannot be recognized I have to start loading on the make-up and hair extensions. People say I look like a totally different person.

I've always made more money with longer hair, even bad hair extensions!

I wear 22 inch extensions that I curl so my hair is like huge barbie hair!

I don't wear extensions just to make myself look different, but I definitely feel a lot sexier with them in! Plus i think they make me look like...less average. With no extensions I just look like some girl you'd see at the grocery store or something haha

I personally do not alter my look much for work. I take shower. Dry myself up. Run my finger through my hair. Then, I put on a dark shirt, dark tie, dark coat, dark pant, dark socks and black shoes. I grab my laptop, my smart phones and some other items and then hop in my V8 SUV and head to work. That is about it.

This varies per person and it really depends on what looks best on you. You ask a hundred people, you get a hundred opinions. Why not figure out what look(s) flatter you the most and post pics for some advice.

Otherwise, it's all trial and error. You may decide on a look and go to the club and find ten other girls that look just like you, not good.

So, be flexible and prepared to flip the switch. I wouldn't worry too much about that now. Get your foot in the door first and then see what is what.
