    Default Anybody else using freecycle.com?

I've heard about this Yahoo group for years, and just signed up.

Getting alerts in my in-box every few minutes is annoying but makes sense given the "first come, first served" aspect of this service. I wish there were a way of filtering one's interests. That is, I really don't need to know when someone is offering toddlers' shoes.

I do it. I once posted a bunch of video editing programs I found still in the box and posted them there. Ironically, the person who responded was in charge of the film department of my grad school (and did I mention I studied film there?). Talk about irony. I once posted a dresser there I was getting rid of, several responded but no one came to pick them up. I did once post that I was looking for stuffed pandas but no one responded to that.

Off to fetch my first thing. Two busted laptops. Meh. Mostly I'm charmed that this service exists. Since the owner is pulling out the hard drives, I doubt the laptops will be much use.
