    Default Continual Birth Control Pills?

Has anyone taken birth control pills continual for any length of time? 3, 6, 12 months? If so, did you have any problems? I was told that light spotting can occur, but I am wondering about PMS symptoms.. such as mood. Was this basically bypassed until you stopped taking the pill for a few days?

The idea of not having a period every month and the associated mood swings sounds awesome, but not natural. Although neither is taking the pill in the first place I suppose.

    Thanks in advance!

I generally take the pill continuously for 3 months at a time. I find when I get my period every 3 months I don't get any side effects whatsoever and my doctor told me that was fine and perfectly healthy to do.

I have in the past taken the pill continuously for up to about 6 months but experienced light spotting until I went off the pill and allowed myself to get my period.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

I did for 2 or 3 years straight, it was sooooo sweet to not get my period ever. I never had any spotting either. However, I got creeped out from taking synthetic hormones for so long, stopped taking BC and got a major headache for like 2 weeks straight from the estrogen withdrawal.

i have been taking seasonale/seasonique since they came out. i love them! no pms at all, my cramps are way lighter, and my period is shorter.

you might have some spotting the first 1-3 cycles, but it does go away. these things were a godsend for me.

I have been on seasonale for 7 years and only get my period once every three months. I've had no negative side effects at all and no spotting in between. As mentioned above you may have spotting the first few months of using it while your body gets used to it.

Is Seasonale a combo pill or progestin-only?

    Combination.

"Seasonale came to the market in 2003. The pill works by reducing the frequency of menstrual periods from thirteen to four per year. This is a 91 day regimen as each package contains 84 active tablets with hormones and 7 placebo pills to be taken at the end of the active cycle. Each active pill contains 0.03 mg of estrogen (ethinyl estradiol ) and 0.15 mg of progestin (levonorgestrel)."
