    Default Fuck birth control

I tried to take it for one month, and I noticed the side effects immediately. Weight gain, change in body proportions, bloating, breakthrough bleeding, and the WORST: mood swings, bitchiness, irritability really bad! And I was taking the "mini pill", which is basically the same thing as Implanon or Mirena, but a pill form, no estrogen, progesterone only, extremely low dose (Nora BE).

Anyways, I stopped with all that bullshit, and I just heard about Sevista or Sahili. It's a hormone free, once weekly pill that is a contraceptive! And there are no side effects! Has anyone heard of this???

Havent heard of that....but will say that I was a late bloomer and dr put me on the pill to start my period at 16. I never felt so miserable....I dont remember when exactly I went off them, but over the years tried several different types with bad side effects. I stopped every time after about a month and am now well over 40 and havent touched the pill in over 15 years. its like all those drugs that the side effects (if you listen or read the disclaimers) are actually worse than the problem itself. There are PLENTY of other ways to avoid pregnancy.

I never could use any hormone based birth control because of certain issues I have but wish there were more options. That pill sounds great but I am a little leery of any pill claiming to be hormone free.

I have the copper IUD. No hormones, no forgetting to take pills, none of that. Heavy periods for the first 4 months, then back to normal for me. I love it and have had it for 3 years. It's good for 10 which is perfect for me because I do not plan to have children.

I just got off the pill after being on it without more than a few months break for 15 years. Well except when I was pregnant. I've tried different ones over the years, they all take a few months to get use to. Your body has to adust to the hormones. I may go back on them because I really think the estrogen has kept me looking 15 wayyy younger than my age. Since I've been off yes I am back to my skinny self I was in high school were I can't keep weight on but I feel I look older, my periods are longer, more painful and I seem to be tired always. The last pill I was on was best with the least side affects, weight gain was mircette.

I didn't mean to say I look 15, just younger than my age. Lol.

Yes I want to hear about this one. I have tried everything. The only thing I can use is ortho-nova gel, and I think they may stop making it!

This exact same thing happened to me on the mini-pill too....it was horrible. I stopped taking the pill altogether and went for a cap.

well, at least this is confirmed. I heard about this happening before to girls.
I once had a perfect girlfriend we got along perfectly. we we best friends then gf/bf and were going far, but a little uncareful. she decided to take the pill, after that, fights and everything we built up kinda crumbled. Later, I think she tried to fight it and realized her moods were not normal, so I proposed and she said yes. But nothing happened after that. She got very moody, we broke up again and I never saw her.

I f'in hate the pill. messin' with hormones and stuff..broke up my first serious relationship with a girl I love(d) that I still think about today. Made the sweet girl I loved into a, 'bitch', honestly, that was not normal.

^ BOTM, you got these side effects when you STOPPED taking the pill? I've never heard of that before.

I had a lot of problems with the first pill I was on, Alesse, and the pill Im on now, Marvelon, made me pretty psycho for the first month and a half but only very little, if any (can't say for sure) weight gain, the worst side effect I've noticed is occaisonal nauseau, usually 2 days a month or so. I've never heard of those pills JD mentioned but I'm gonna keep an eye on this thread I want to learn more about them!

I was put on Ortho Tri Cyclen ( been taking that on and off since I was 16), and this time it had immediate side effects! I was bloating which in turn made me bitchy because as we all know how we look is our livelihood. I went off before the month was even over because I couldn't stand being bloated. It may have had an effect on my moods as well because I kept thinking I looked horrible, not so great for my self-image.

I'm on the pill and I gain weight extremely easily, and I act psycho at times. I hate it, but it's better than being pregnant and I'm not a fan of condoms.

Plus side of b/c: my breasts grew three times (switching pills); now I'm a DD.
Down side: I make more money dancing when I'm not on it- it's like they can smell the pheromones. Sometimes twice as much.
End result? No hormonal birth control when I'm working.

Is it available in the U.S.? There isn't much info available on it... I want to know how it works...?

I refuse to go the hormone route too, so I'm interested in hearing more about this, and I'm wondering why it isn't used in the states?

It's not FDA approved here yet, only in India...

You might want to research Queen Anne's Lace (aka Wild Carrot Seed). It's a plant that has been used for centuries and when taken correctly acts as a contraceptive. No side affects. All natural. None of that gross, man-made, synthetic hormone crap. Fuck birth control!

Sisterzeus.com is a good place to get started if you want some more info.

    Works for me

** I did a ton of research on QAL first though before deciding to try it. It's definitely a more personal decision than getting a 'doctor-approved' prescription. But then again, I'd trust the process of a nature-made organism before I would fully trust something a doctor gave me lol.

I get fucked up side effects every month when I take out my nuvaring for the week.
For some people the change in hormone levels can fuck you up no matter which way it's fluctuating.

Are you aware that the sperm will be very alive inside you for 3 days, sometimes up to 5?

Also, anything that is changing the biology of your uterus is changing your hormones. The herbalists for QAL actually claim that it prevents you from producing natural hormones. Seems to be doing the same thing to your body as BC pills, only a lot more risky.
She's right, last fall I actually wrote my term paper for my history of medicine class on forms of birth control used in antiquity, Queen Anne's lace is one of many many natural methods that have been used for ages and actually have a pretty high success rate. Man, I wish I had my paper I'd quote some sections of it but its on my old computer which is dead Anyways, natural birth control methods can work, HOWEVER most of them rely on changing the chemistry of your uterus into a non-hospitable environment and thickening cervical mucus to make it harder for spermies get through, that's the preventative ones, which are not as common. Most natural methods are more aborative contaceptives, and work like the morning after pill, making it extremely difficult for a fertilized egg to implant, rather than preventing ovulation/conception. Only synthetic hormones can do that.

To use a modern-day comparison, the copper IUD does not prevent ovulation, it prevents impantation of a fertilized egg and acts as a spermicidal device. How it works is not well understood, yet it has a very very low failure rate. Similar magic to natural birth control methods.

I've been taking Sahili for almost two years and I love it. I was on the regular pill for nearly 16 years and didn't have any problems, but I wanted to stop taking hormones.

The way it works is that is hypo-matures the egg and thins your uterine lining (the bloody stuff that comes out during your period). Since the uterus isn't ready for the egg to implant, and the egg is early anyway - viola! No pregnancy. Another interesting side effect is that my periods last, like, a day. When I first started it, I didn't get one for three months.

You're supposed to take a pill twice a week for the first three months, then once a week after that. But the pills are formulated for Indian women, who tend to be tiny. So it's recommended that American women just take two pills a week for as long as you're on it.

It's not in the States because no drug companies have bothered to import it. I order mine through a Canadian pharmaceutical company. Because it's coming from outside the US, it's wicked cheap - like a year's worth of pills was $30. Shipping is $25 flat rate, so I order a bunch of other stuff to make it worth while.

The Aphrodite Health thread has a ton of info, so read over it and I can try to answer questions too.

Hey, no problem! I was like "where have you been all my life" after the first three or four months. American medicine is ok, but there's a big wide world of other options out there that might be better.

One thing: use a backup for the first six weeks just like the regular pill. Your body needs time to adjust to the new normal. I order my pills from these guys: www.alldaychemist.com

If you need to get an inhaler, prescription shampoo or antibiotics, they probably have it.
