    Post Caylee Anthony murder case

No doubt some of this may end up being a flame thread but if you have been following the case, there are two opposing arguments: whether Casey Anthony is guilty or not.

I won't go into detail about the case but here it is on Wikipedia:

    And all other news videos:

She faces the death penalty as many believe there is more than enough evidence proving that she murdered her own daughter. Her parents believe she is innocent.

However she has accused her father and brother of sexually molesting her when she was young.

What are your thoughts about how the trial is unfolding?

Great topic. I could have empathy for her, but her behavior??? Are you kidding me you find your child dead and try to cover it up? Proceed to party and place blame on a make believe nanny. Now you speak up about having sex with your stepdad and saying he helped you cover up an accidental death?? Too much for TV!!!! I am human, so I cannot judge her. I just hope she is mental and not a compulsive liar.

If she had said from the start "it was an accident" she could have plead to a much lesser charge and gotten off in a few years. There is really no way to prove she intentionally murdered Caylee and not simply overdosed her by accident while using chloroform as a baby sitter. Her defense is extremely odd and just makes her appear more guilty.

How do you all feel about the media's coverage in all this? It's just odd how the media has been spinning everything.... not to say that she is any less guilty. BUT I mean, is it really necessary to flame her sooo much? I can't help but think reporters/news networks just want their juicy piece of $$$ pie. Their feeding off the pubic's frenzy imo. An article from Washington Post:

This makes things a little unfair and hard to navigate through all the BS... the media makes me furious sometimes...

The media will always focus on what sells. Attractive white females and murdered babies are extremely high on that list.

Attractive females period point blank! Race isn't the issue. There are also overzealous prosecutors and detectives trying to make a name for themselves. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Either way her case and story are not looking well.

So sad for the little girl...I just wish ALL children that this happens to everyday got the same amount of exposure. SMDH. I'm not even going to speculate. May she RIP anyway.

She is very sick & I have zero empathy or sympathy for her. The world is a better place without her.

If she killed her child she deserves jail. If she helped cover up the killing of her child she deserves jail. If she didn't do it, she deserves her freedom. The police, media, prosecutors all say what makes them look the best.

I remember when this story very first came out... it's just sad!

OP, I'm not sure if you are aware, but the mother was supposedly a dancer/stripper.

    This is interesting:

I'm not sure if this girl's word is trust-able though... for obvious reasons. This sort of thing is a prime example of how others can still hurt you even in jail. Anyone can say anything... true or not, so we don't know if what this girl even says is true. So far though, the evidence seems to point to it being true. Casey is in solitary now, but it makes you wonder if the case would have gone any different if she'd been in solitary from the beginning?

I've never heard the dancer thing and this was on t.v. daily here were I live an hour from were it happened. If she had nancy grace would be blaring it all over her show. That has nothing to do with the case anyways, someone probably said that because she entered a hot bod contest at her boyfriends bar and there were pics of her out dancing and partying dressed provocatively. She's a compulsive liar so who knows what to believe with her.

My personal opinions regarding the case-

Re- the car trunk- I've had the terrible misfortune to smell decomposed flesh. It is a very unique terrible stomach turning stench. (I also grew up in one of the hottest parts of California & I know that hot kitchen refuse smells different than decomposed human.) I've gotten pretty annoyed by the defense's stupid inability to explain/"defend" this issue (the stench in the car trunk.) Some think that there is an effort to get Casey an appeal based on "ineffective counsel."

Casey's behavior is riddled with stupid self-defeating actions- we should all be grateful she was dumb enough to end up on trial. Examples- letting the car get towed/making her parents pick it up, not laying low after her daughter disappeared, making up lies to the police, etc.

I read online that Casey was rumored to have brought her daughter to parties & put her to bed in a spare bedroom so she could drink and hang out, but people got tired of her kid waking up and wandering out into the party. Some think that she started drugging her daughter so she could have hours free to party....and she accidentally overdosed her.

All I have to say is America needs to de-romanticize young parenthood. It's not 1950 and families aren't structured to help very young mothers like it was commonplace (for a single mother to "go back" to her folks)....And, some young women do not need to be encouraged to have children if they are notably irresponsible. In fact, it seems in her case that Casey extorted support from her parents via having her child so young & that her mom encouraged it (which backfired, there was apparently jealousy issues between mother & daughter over the grandaughter.)

Are babysitters that expensive? i don't have kids but i was always under the impression that you could hire a teenager for a few bucks.

imo a decent babysitter at least demands minimum wage per hour or close to it...it can add up for someone with sporadic employment. Also if you happen to like partying & want to take off on a whim, it's hard to get a sitter on short notice...

I forgot to add I truly blame Casey's parents in this case for not getting on Casey to be more responsible (with her whole life, not just her childcare issues.)

imo they have probably always known Casey was a fuckup and a brat but chose not to deal with the issue. Cindy Anthony seems kind of strange & it's possible that both women put George Anthony in a corner in terms of managing a household.

You don't need a decent babysitter when your other plan is chloroform, neighborhood teenager is a vast improvement.

I also forgot to point out child murders like this case are not uncommon- this case just blew up b/c the grandparents were so weird about it, and George Casey is a former cop.

There's another missing child case that Nancy Grace harps on too, the alleged child murderer looks like a Mongoloid hood rat- it has faded out of the news b/c no body has been found. Lemme go look it up...

I really doubt it was accidental.

Someone searched "neck-breaking" from the computer while the grandparents were at work and other methods to kill, plus the child's skull had duct tape wrapped all the way around it. Seems to me murder was planned.

One would not cover a child's hair and face with duct tape if they ever expected them to wake up, would be hell to try to get that out of a kid's hair even if it just covered the mouth. Seems a pretty good chance that the child was knocked out then suffocated with duct tape.

I thought the duct tape might have been a ploy to make it look like a kidnapping/murder (in a panicked person's mind, the possiblity of making people believe it was "someone else" versus a negligent fuckup could seem so very appealing.) otoh I wasn't sure how much duct tape had been recovered, like long long pieces or just the small bits on the face...

I read somewhere that Casey & her boyfriend belonged to a bike club called "The Neck-Breakers." Which is supposed to explain that search topic.

I watched that youtube video with Maya, the jailhouse snitch...it's possible Casey "planted" the accident story with that woman to confuse everyone.

btw yesterday the court was discussing some of the grosser aspects of a decomposing human body. The waxy part on top of the corpse, I forget the scientific name, can stick around for a while if something is sheltering the body from elements, like a coffin or blanket. I'm assuming they can guess from that whether the body had just lain in the sack for straight months on end, or if "Someone" "moved" the body (like the meter reader the defense is accusing of that act.)

btw the fact that the ME seems so personally pissed off & convinced it was murder does impress me. NOT because she's on TV, but because she's very experienced, and pretty smart. (just my 2 cents)

Oops I meant to type George Anthony is a former cop, scuse my typo.

I also thought maybe someone smothered Casey's daughter over some grievance (like stolen drugs or a grudge) & she might have tried to cover that up- in the big picture bending over backwards to NOT tell the truth about a tale like that is better than admitting that you did something so awful that someone killed your kid over it. (Things like that do happen often enough.) Wasn't Casey busted for stealing money out of someone else's account? She was perfectly capable of angering someone enough to do something extreme.

    Just a possibility.....

I don't believe for one second that her brother or father molested her when she was younger. Yes her whole family is a lil off their rocker (which imo makes it easier for some ppl to be sucked into her lies). I think she was so deep into her new BF that she wanted caylee gone. And decided she finally grew the balls to do it AND DID. I don't care how messed up u are..if u have ANY love for ur child at all, u don't wait 31 days to report them missing.

Another possibility is Casey and her mom did collude to hide an accidental death. However that doesn't explain the "smell in the trunk."

If her parents knew anything they wouldn't have been at the jail begging and pleading with he for answers. There was many hours of taped visits with her parents and her father was an ex cop if it were an accidental downing she wouldn't be sitting in ail charges with first degree murder and baiz would have screamed accident to the world from the begining but he kept saying she was alive and everyone would see when they found zainaida.

Wow not guilty! The only thing they found that bitch guilty of is lying to law enforcement! She'll be free to go have more babies and party her ass off. Wow! I can't believe she didn't even get manslaughter!

I was afraid this was going to happen. The prosecution didn't actually prove anything other than she's a liar.
