Question Do I Have to Get a Wig/Extensions/Fall, etc.?

    Hi,

My name's Honey, and although I started dancing shortly after turning 18, I moved to a different state after a little over a month of stripping, and haven't danced since then-9 months! I can't wait to start dancing again, although it will be my first time working at a fully nude club, so I'm a little apprehensive about that.

However, what I'm really curious about is if getting a wig, extensions or a fall is totally necessary to look attractive, and thus, get more money. Previously, I danced with a high-quality blonde human hair wig on occasion, because although my natural hair is almost down to my butt, I didn't want to dye it blonde b/c I knew it would be rough on my hair, and I felt like I'd make more money as a blonde (plus, it was important that nobody from my old college recognize me if they came into the club, as it was pretty close to campus)!

Right now, I'm not worried if someone I know were to come in and see me dancing nude, as I'm not ashamed about being a stripper and have no hang-ups concerning my body image, so I don't really need a different-colored wig to disguise myself. I no longer have the blonde wig and can't afford to replace it at the moment, so I guess I'll be dancing as a brunette for the time being. And while I can't afford another $600 wig right now, I could afford to get some extensions to thicken my hair out. However, I was wondering if altering one's hair beyond styling it is absolutely necessary for all strippers, regardless of how their hair is naturally. For example, I already have very thick, voluminous chestnut/auburn hair that I take extremely good care of, and just reaches the top of my butt, so it's pretty long. People give me lots of compliments on my hair frequently, and I'm scared that row extensions (to thicken, not lengthen the hair) will put too much pressure on my scalp and eventually pull out lots of hairs due to the stress of having an extension pulling on each hair.

Personally, I like the over the top, extra-voluminous and super thick hair you get with wigs and extensions, as even naturally long hair isn't as thick near the bottom, though extensions are.

Basically, I'm just curious if everyone here thinks that I'd be okay with my long natural hair, or if extensions/wigs are an absolute MUST, even if your hair is already looking pretty good by itself.

Definitely NOT a requirement. Not all guys like blondes - some men love brunettes/redheads, and hair color isn't a huge factor for lots of men.

I have pretty short hair, so when I started dancing I wore a wig (believing that I wouldn't be able to make $$ w/ short hair). To me, the wig was a hassle - it was hot under there, maintenace was a pain, and I felt restricted in my movements because I didn't want any "wardrobe malfunctions" relating to my wig.

When I changed clubs, I decided to try working with my natural short brown hair. I'm actually making more money now than when I wore a wig, probably because I feel more comfortable now. Some guys tell me that they usually like long hair, but on me short hair looks good (read: they like my boobs), some tell me that they love short hair on a woman, and they are drawn to me because so few dancers have short hair, and many don't mention my hair at all. It just goes to show that for every style, there is a customer who loves exactly that.

I know you're talking about extensions, and that the issues there are going to be a little different than with a wig, but the point of my little anecdote was to illustrate that you can do very well w/o using these types of hair products. It sounds like your hair is beautiful already, and I don't think your natural hair would prevent you from making any money.

If you want to get the extensions for personal reasons, then go for it.... But if you are only considering them because of work, then I say don't bother.
