    WOW!
    Watching Extreme Couponing on TLC.
I've seen some of you all chat about it, but if you haven't seen this topic--
    wow!

The last family shown on this show, bought like $655 worth of grocery goods for $2.87 cents.

That is awesome! I wish I knew how to be like that. But on the other hand, I'm sure that takes up a lot of time and since I don't have a family yet, I think at the most it could actually decrease the amount of money I make because I'm spending time coupon hunting when I could be working, and at the very least if I took it to that level I can forget having a social life LOL

I use coupons and save a lot but nothing like my mom. My mom has coupon magazines and has saved hundreds on groceries. In fact years ago she actually got a cart of food free by couponing.

yeah, I don't think I'd want to super coupon to that extent except perhaps once to have the experience, BUT, I would like to start using coupons, especially on the days when grocery stores double your coupon savings on them, and then just maybe stockpiling a little bit.

There's stuff I don't use, but I could stockpile them if I saw an easy way to getting them close to free, and then donating them. I like that idea.

That is insane! I would love to save that kind of money on food.

Despite how awesome the savings are that they show on there, for the average person its just not do-able. I imagine it is more than a bit dramatized to make for better ratings. I've seen some great info shared on their though that you could use even if you just use a few coupons here and there.

Check out afullcup.com they have great information about how to begin couponing! Saving money is always a good thing, I need to start

I read in another forum were some of the participants in extreme couponing had commited a form of fraud. Read this thread as it is a bit more than I want to explain (again).

Now having said that I can say I am jealous and really should be doing something like this more often myself. I am not a good menu planner or shopper. Being single I can get what I like and be guilt free about it.

Holy cow. I'm seeing another show of it and there's people buying like 2-3 THOUSAND dollars worth of stuff for 50-100 dollars.

    crazy!

But cool-- one lady was stocking up on pet supplies to donate to the local shelter

I like that it's an acceptable form of hoarding Shopping is a high. What a great way to get a high for free to help your family, friends, or donate.

Thanks for that above link. I'm only through the first page but I find it fascinating.
I've always been a clearance shopper and love buying birthday gifts during a store like victoria's secret or Bath and Body Works bi-annual clearance, or finding products I've always wanted to try but never wanted to pay full price for being found a few months down the line in the clearance bin.

The zombie hunter forum you posted is now my new net porn. Which is great that it's survival oriented since one of the reasons I wanted to extreme coupon was to have a larder to fall back on.

So thank you for directing me to an awesome forum

That show blew my freakin mind!! It's hilarious how proud they are of their stock room in the garage and the visible high they get from loading their cart at the grocery store. What I wanna know though, is where do they find these stores that allow coupon stacking like that? I live in CA and most stores around here don't allow this. Another thing is that while it's impressive to see how much shit they get for free, all the food is processed/unhealthy...not really stuff I would be interested in consuming mass quantities of. Still fun to watch though!

    Internet high five!

You must lurk this web page too. A cute little Mormon gal that demonstrates how to produce from long term (grinding flour from wheat berries) everyday meals that her family eats and enjoys.

I put each coupon in a slot, with like ones behind it. I organize it by category.. dairy, frozen, boxed, cans and bottles, cleaners, personal care, pet care, beverages and misc (batteries etc)

One of the ideas from there I would like to emulate.

^yup. hmm...maybe I should start doing that while I travel (collecting coupons and organizing them) so maybe when I get home I can start (so long as the coupons are good for a few months.

I'm not too interested in the processed crap (except some frozen pizzas which I love, and maybe some of the healthier forms of canned food.) But then again, when I feed my dog raw (or raw-ish) he gets canned veggies so that'd be okay so long as I could get sodium-free veggies.

Mostly it's the stuff like the batteries, and the shower supplies, and the beans and rice and stuff like that. Oh, and toilet paper. I could stock the shit out of some toilet paper and take some pride in that!

Yeah, I would guess so. I haven't seen this show, but this sort of thing has been going on for a long time with many newsreports about it. Last big thing I saw was one housemom who had it set up like a business, and it was practically full time work.

Yeah she saved a lot, but I couldn't imagine being married to someone who was that, honestly, anal, about shopping all the time. And yeah, lots of the food is obviously not all healthy fresh foods and stuff. Still this lifestyle is very interesting to watch.
I wish I knew what I was doing...
