    Default Moving out?

Well, I have enough money to live well on my own now but as far as my parents know, I don't have a job. I strip and cam part time and I lie and say I'm sleeping over at friends / going clubbing / whatever.
So how do I explain to my parents the fact that I have $ and want to move out, without divulging my stripping/camming career?
Sorry if this is a dumb question / off topic / whatever. Thanks

Hmm... that's tough. Instead of telling them you were out and about, you should have just made up a story about a different "legit" job... but it's a little late for that lol Do they know you have any savings or do you get an allowance of some sort? If you've been telling them that you go out clubbing, you must have money of some sort that they don't question you about. I would tell them asap that you found a job so they think you have a steady source of income (look up all the threads on what to tell your parents you do instead of stripping/camming). Spend the next couple months planning your move-out, while they think you are working all the time and saving money. Tell them your apartment is really cheap (even if it's not) and that a bunch of utilities are included (even if they're not) so you don't have to explain away every expense. Make a big deal out of living the "ramen lifestyle" even if, in reality, you eat out every night. In general, just lie and say you spend way less than you actually do so they think you're slumming it and scraping by instead of being suspicious of where your money is coming from. That's the best thing I can think of.

^^definitely do something similar to this. If it was me, my mom would be all on my case sayn, "why move out when you have it so great here...for free?". So, this is what I'd do. Tell them that you have a job doing something at night, since you're probably home all day and they know it, that's probably the route you're gonna wanna take. Watch the whole restaurant excuse, the fams tend to wanna come see you at work if you work in a restaurant. So if you do say you work at a restaurant, make sure it's one that they'd either not want to go to for whatever reason or it's too far to go out of the way for them. Next I would say that a friend got a 2 bedroom apt and the other person flaked on the idea so she wants me to move in instead. I'd add a side note saying that she's going to let me stay for free until my income is steady (maybe like a month) because the place is cheap and the other girl makes enough to cover everything comfortably, she just wants a roomie. Make sure they know that you've thought it over millions of times because some parents can be iffy about 1 of their own moving out for the first time, especially if you're young. You know you're parents, we don't, so you know better what they might say then anyone on here would. Think about responses that they might give you and be ready for questioning. Try to fathom what they might say and have some type of comeback ready. Good luck, an alternate route: get the place and start staying there. Make sure you can handle everything (bills, neighbors, etc..) and tell your parents that you're staying with a friend for a little while, make up some sobby bs excuse for "the friend" (terrible break up, family issues,)...something to make it seem like "the friend" really needs you around. Then after a while...just be like...well, I've been spending so much time over there, I'm just gonna move in. If you end up with a room mate then great, the plan is executed and no one is suspecting anything funny, if not just make up another lie when they start visiting and realize that it's just you. "The friend" was having a rough time and wanted to move back home (wherever that may be) or whatever. Just think on it a little, this is just my opinion. But DEFINITELY make sure you have a fall back plan if it doesn't work out on your own, like moving back in with your parents...don't burn that bridge, you may need it. Other than that, just continue stacking your dough and make a fool proof plan and story for everyone that you don't want to know the truth. Hope that helps a little, good luck, let us know how everything goes!!

Maybe you could tell them that you've been offered a job (freelance or promotion or just make up something), and say that you're moving in with a friend to be closer to the job. Hopefully you had some money before you started stripping so that they'll believe you have enough to cover the first month's rent, or if you have a good enough friend who would be willing to let you crash for a bit...

Congrats on making enough to move out, though!

You could say you're house-sitting for like a month or so because someone went somewhere for some summer job opportunity, tell them you got a job, and then later say they decided not to come back and you got an awesome deal subletting the apartment from them which you can now afford with your new job...

Thanks everyone I love your idea Gia about staying with a friend for a while... I want to move about an hour away so I think I could do it, then say she's moving back home and letting me live there for the remainder of the month or whatever. Then find a "job".
I do have a "job" like, one weekend out of two at my father's restaurant so I suppose I could say I have a few hundred saved up from it and rent a cheap room too.

Geez, I wouldn't bother with lie after elaborate lie. Keep it simple. I believe the tried and true cocktail waitress at a club might serve you best and save you from having to make up a bunch of different stories. Or whatever job you want to say you have.

You are probably at the age when people start moving out, they may be ready to have you out the house. ;=)
