It doesn't look good out there.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

whenever you have a study, you have to look at the source. It is getting harder and harder to get truly non-biased surveys these days...

Even the scientists that the UN used for global warming policy making were found to have altered or omitted results that didnt fit their agenda. So...who is producing the survey....and who are the respondents.

And what respected scientific think tank compiled this survey? lol...the fine people at Trojan.

When they say "times" do they mean days per week, or actual times. If I was only having sex 135 times per year, I would be dissappointed. But, I'm in a relationship, so I have easy access! lol

As someone in my mid twenties, this does not surprise me. I haveno moral qualms about anyone's sex habits, but I would never ever have unprotected sex with someone that i wasn't in an exclusive sexual relationship with. I have also had to educate some of my fellow twenty somethings about getting STD testing after each partner.

One of the stupidest things I hear is: "Oh, but he/she's real clean." What?!, like taking showers means they don't have syphillis? WTF.

My bf is in his mid-thirties. He didn't have a steady girlfriend for 7 years before me (I'm special), and that freaked me out. I insisted upon mutual STD testing.

I think if I am comfortable enough to say call me your little slut while you choke me and pull my hair, I should be able to talk to someone about safe sex/STD testing.

Haha... well, Tempest moved there for a reason!

As far as the rest, none of this surprises me... it just makes me happy that I'm not how I was years ago. Although honest, given that I primarily went for older men in the form of longterm relationships, based on this study I was probably very low on the totem pole for being at risk.

I will say though, even after testing I'll be damned before I sleep with someone without a condom. Even after testing before beginning an "exclusive relationship" people can lie... & they can lie after the "exclusive" relationship begins to. There no reason for me to suffer from someone else's stupidity, risks, & choices.
    Don't you ever sleep?

I think it's 135 times per year, not per week; that's only in my fantasies and then its only 20-30 times per week, average.

Now, there's even talking about protection in oral sex -- HPV etc.

I read that article but to be honest I am not surprised. I see so many 20something online and offline having multiple sex partners. My first thought was to tell these people that they are playing Russian roulette until I think of my self at that age. I did often rush into sex and had a string of FWBs. I never got pregnant but did get HPV. Honestly, I'm lucky that's all I got and I had it removed. It changed my way of thinking. While I usually used a condom, no method is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy or disease. I also wasn't sleeping with every guy I dated either.

When I was in my 20's the internet wasn't as big as it is now. Online dating I believe has contributed to this trend because I often see on dating sites this idea that if a guy doesn't get sex by the third date he moves on. When dating online you don't know someone well enough to know if they have disease or worse AIDS. I've read a few studies that claim if this rate of sex doesn't calm down it will be more common to be an unwed parent in one's 20's than childless.

Part of it is the sexualization of media. Between glamorizing garbage like Teen Mom and the Bachelor we don't tell kids that they shouldn't be having sex with everyone. We should be telling that yes sex is great but does have consequences and shouldn't be shared with everyone.

The average is 120 times a year!? I don't even want to know how many standard deviations outside of that I am. Although, I bet I'm dead on-average among people who place the frequency of their sexual encounters in terms of standard deviations.

120 times a year = once every three days. Doesn't sound too bad IMO. Heck, it's downright optimistic once you're dealing with people with jobs and kids And remember, it's supposed to be an average, so somewhere a 19 y/o doing it twice daily every day ( = 730 times a year) would be getting balanced out by a retiree who last got any during the first term of the Reagan administration.
