^^^ It's normal to react when there are people that sell their performance low, this is happening in 'real life' too, when somebody sells something or a service very low priced it changes the market, its happening everywhere.
Sm culture really changed since gold shows were introduced and there are performers happy with new system cause they willing to put up these shows and there are performers not happy cause they not willing to put themselves in the hot spot so they feel left behind, we all know GS rooms are more popular than privates on SM lately, they attract more visitors in rooms and more exposure -> more chances for profit. I thanked both JoyKitten cause i agree her comments and Incantatious too cause i agree her comments too.

In this industry we certainly need to be able to adapt to change. Some of those changes many of us will like, and some of those changes many of us won't.
Before I cammed, I put a lot of emphasis on learning GOLD show hustle long before I even began, which I think gave me a head-start, as it was something I was already interested in before I had any cam experience myself. I can imagine that for the ladies who started camming, and then GOLD shows came, it is a whole different ball game. But I did, myself, have to think about difficult changes when the whole "Xpeeps interactive" shit started going on and this newly invented interactive dildo was put on the market and it scared me.. Lol.. I didn't like it at all, but I don't think it's amounted to anything (It may have done! But I don't see any talk of it, and either way it doesn't seem to have negatively impacted my success), but regardless... things are going to change for us because that's what this industry has always done.. and we are all going to have to find ways to adapt to those changes.
If more interactive ways of camming are going to be introduced, I think it is always going to be best to try to remain open-minded, try to stay calm, and just have a brainstorm about if we can make these initially scary changes help rather than hinder us... To put our own unique spin on the new shit to stay ahead of the rest.
In certain ways, we are incredibly privileged. And in many ways, yes, we absolutely have it so much easier than others. - We log on and traffic is handed to us on a plate. We didn't have to do anything to get that traffic. Just switch on our cams and log on. That's still insane to me. Incredible. And we have come to expect it to be that easy, which can be a huge pit-fall... I think the more a camgirl takes her whole business into her whole hands, the more success and longevity she will see. Her business will benefit from that extra personal effort in getting herself out there, bringing and keeping her own traffic, working on promotion, solidifying her niche, and making a sustainable brand for herself.

By the way, not everyone wants a career as a cam model, for some people including myself this is just a temporary work, some wanna keep a low profile regarding their online work therefore not willing to promote themselves, build a brand, sell content and so on. What is on the internet stays there forever, some people wanna get out this work line one day and do something different and want as little tracks as possible behind them. Hope i worded it correctly, too tired by now, off to bed.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! so then ~ ...if only you could have your cake and eat it too?![]()
For sure though, not treating this like a real-life career comes with it's repercussions and consequences...
The more you put in, the more you get out.. To me, knowing that is always a boost: because then I know it's always within some measure of my control.
Actually scares me when I see other performers speak about camming (which I always - maybe stupidly - to be to them like what it is to me: My beloved business and omg NO BITCH can take this away from me so help me Christ) like it's hanging by a little tiny thread that other performers can come along and "snap", and then it's "bai bai!" to your livelihood...
OMFG girls are making guys cheap!
OMFG girls are giving free shows meaning no one will pay for mine!
OMFG girls are ruining every-fucking-THING with their puuuuuuuuuuuuuuussy!
OMFG I hate girlssssssssssss ruining my entire job for me!
For the performers who are worried about other performers basically ruining this industry, if you care that much, get your hands dirty. Pick dat ass up and cause fricking earthquakes with it. (I mean that metaphorically.. I don't mean: just fart at the internet), that no guy with cash can even try to ignore.
But fuck! Even yeah! Even if you get known for how awesome you fart and take vids of it, people will pay up. As long as you know that your gas and your ass - just like your work - are all within your control.
And you know what happens if you keep a fart in...
(yeah... I don't even know how I can make this analogy work anymore)
<3 !
Not going to argue with u here sweetie, u full of anger just now.........

.................................................. ................................................. O_O
Maybe this is one of those instances where tone doesn't transfer right over the internet?
...I had to stop typing several times in my previous post because I was laughing way too much at my own utterly ridiculous (and 100% non-angry and well-meaning) jokes. Er, yeh, I wasn't angry at all... I was just mega spirited and it must have somehow come across as anger?
I love everyone.
Love love love... GIFS MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER! lol.![]()

IMO , you did not come off angry. Some are more sensitive than others or read the forum way diff than what is meant. Did that make sense? Lets just pick up the phone and call![]()

"You can't have your cake and eat it too" is basically used for expressing the impossibility of having something both ways, if those two ways conflict...
I used it in this context to reference those performers who want a lot of distance from camming, or those who only do it as a temporary job that they can't (or don't want to) take seriously, whilst simultaneously wanting the benefits and success of a performer who perhaps does take it seriously; or perhaps mourning that they are getting left behind, as the industry changes and others get to the top, etc, etc.. I hope that explains it!

I wasn't perving the girl showing her pussy... but I do perv some of the other ladies lol

there IS a difference , perving is acceptable, trolling is not
most of the models feel like they are trolled by other models.
perving is 100% acceptable
basically , bitching about seeing what other models do, we assume a troll is among us. This is my own personal conclusion , others may feel different.
your good if just perving bb
You are so right about developing our own business. We've got to think of camming as a real business, don't operate it as if it's a hobby. Have a plan, build a brand, and that doesn't require joining PornHub or uploading videos to the internet sites. (I'm with AliceFun, this isn't something I'm expecting to do the rest of my life) Because of the Gold Show videos being ripped and uploaded to other sites, I made a decision not to do them. Relying instead on private & exclusive shows. If anyone is curious, this is how my successful yet unusual, out of the box business plan works:
For me, being an older performer I knew it wasn't going to be my youthful good looks that were going to make me a success. I'm not going to have 100's of people in my free chat; If I have 25 at once it feels crazy busy to me. LOL Like you, I did my research, studied, watched models on all the cam sites to see what was working, and wasn't working. Before even signing up with a site I built a business plan of sorts.
Part of my plan was realizing that lounging on a bed, with my monitor across the room wasn't going to work for me. To read the guest chat I must sit closer, I work from a desk & chair instead of a bed or couch. While my version of business may seem extreme to most of you, my lengthy explanation is meant to be an example of thinking outside the box, doing something different and utilizing the tools we're given on the site to create a personalized, successful business. Anyone, of any age can do this business. There are guys who are looking for GILFs, so camming really is open to anyone. hee-hee
My prior careers have been in sales and customer service, so I took that training into camming. Anyone who's ever been in sales knows that keeping notes on your customers is the difference between success and failure. The thing I saw missing on all these sites is 'personalized' attention. Girls are calling the guys by their SM name, i.e. BigDick65 I'm certain there are a lot of other models who ask what he'd like to be called during the show. The difference with me is that after I've signed off I'll spend up to 30 minutes going over my ENTIRE chat stream, adding notes to EVERY person who had a paid show with me (often with a glass of wine in hand). My guys who had a role play, fetish or specific scene to play out, I make notes about the show while it's fresh in my mind. This extra time spent making notes has, over time while building a clientele, is on the way to tripling my original income here. Writing notes isn't the highlight of my day, but I rationalize it as the commute time I would have had if this were a regular job.
Doing this has made me a virtual mistress/courtesan to hundreds of guys on SM.
As soon as they pop into my FREE (or paid) chat I click on my notes, I see my prior posts about my time with them.
Example:
3/15/13 $7-E (exclusive) Mike, c2c, white satin panties & white thigh highs; loves licking pussy
2/02/13 $12-p Mike, from Norway, stockings & heels, licking pussy
In this example, when he comes by a few weeks later Mike's surprised when I mention him by name and tell him my satin panties are at arms reach, and so are my stockings. Does he want white again, or something different? By doing this I'm making him feel special, like I care (which I do, that's why I bother to make the notes).
*Lots of my notes just say PI, for pop-in. They didn't participate or type anything, but they were there checking me out. I like stats, so it's interesting to me how someone who did a pop-in will come back and do an exclusive show with me. Their PI was just a fly by to check me out.
On SM, where it's very fast paced and rather impersonal for the guys. Yet because of my notes I'm perceived to 'get them'. It's become personal. When they pop into an exclusive show with me I'm immediately ready to deliver their fetish or whatever floats their boat. We've a rapport. And it's less stressful for me because my notes prepare me for what they want before they even say a word.
Incantatious, I share your attitude of gratitude. We're so lucky to have a gig like this. Generally I consider myself a sort of therapist for lonely guys, or guys who just aren't getting satisfactory sex from their partner. I perform a valued service that makes guys feel better, and I'm paid VERY handsomely for it. And as we all know, working for ourselves, the days and hours we want, is enviable by 99% of the people of the world..... even by real therapists who are stuck in their offices from 9 to 5 like everyone else.

Personally, I do my 'observing' from the public home page, not while signed in as a member.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who tests the water, sees who else is working and how long it's taking those models to be taken private, before I sign on. Maybe I'm the only one who likes to mentally prepare for what I'm up against before I begin working. Is it super slow?, or smokin' hot busy; models complaining about dropped shows or glitches?) For me there's rarely a reason to sign-in as a member, everything I'm curious about is spelled out on the SM public home page.
Just wondering, is watching a fellow models from the public homepage perving or trolling? Or is that only when you're signed in as a member?

I spend most of my free time watching other models on SM, gold shows of popular girls are addicting lol. But I'm not registered, so they don't even now and I'm not registered because GS's are SO cheap that I'm sure I'd buy everytime.
But in my main site, I go to girls' room if I'm bored, and if they say "hi" I tell them that I'm a model and just visiting, if it's okay with her. All of them seemed pleased and chatted with me, and I even bought a group show from a girl, and left when anouther custie came in Even though you are not trolling, some girls may be uncomfortable because of other performer's presence, so I think best solution is to ask for permission, if you don't wanna be seen as rude, troll or bitchy.

I think the best way to watch other models (when you don't intend to chat/tip) is to do it in guest mode. Also, I don't feel the need to announce "I'm a model on here too" in another model's room. I know that when models come into my free chat announcing that they're a model too, the first thing that pops into my mind is "OMG, I hope this girl doesn't start advertising herself like that MFC chick did." If you want to let a model know that you're a fellow model on the site, there are other ways to go about it: tell her via tip note (if it's MFC), or tell her via private message or the via the site's messaging system. Guys in her room don't really need to know that there's another female in the room, because you could be unintentionally taking the spotlight away from her by announcing that you're a model too. I know this from experience from when fellow models have visited me on MFC. Half the time guys don't know how to act when they realize there are TWO females in the room, and the next thing you know, they're comparing both models (which is rude as hell) and nagging you that "you two should do a show together." *sigh*
