The best bitrate for your computer depends on a few factors.
For a 1280x720 livestream, your bitrate should be between 1800-2400 for the best quality.

Some of us have "boosted" internet connections so although your speedtest may show fast upload/download/ping it may be misleading.
Your ping, computer hardware and SM traffic and activity play the biggest factors in your bitrate. A nice low ping is dependent on the location of servers and how well they work with your internet provider--it's not necessarily always due to distance from SM servers that determines a better ping rate. The faster your computer can encode video, the better your overall bitrate, eg. I7 processor, good video card, lots of RAM, SSD drive etc.
I think I see somewhere that we can only have loyalty free music playing? Can we have music playing in paid chat too? Also what does everyone use for there music or where do u get it from?
I have a playlist of regular music playing most of the time that I annoyingly have to put on pause whenever I get a show. The guys don't seem to mind but it actually really throws off my groove to suddenly have my workspace go silent. I'd really like an answer to this too.
"It's amazing what a positive attitude can do!"

I've always kept Pandora playing through all of my free and paid chats on SM and no one cares after almost two years, so I imagine it's fine. Only time that you can't do it is when you accept a TV Gold Show (no brands on clothing, no music, etc., because of the 'no free marketing' rule).

I have music playing in the background all the time except for TV gold shows. SM doesn't have rules against music except for that instance. Some sites like F4F care, and the rules that apply to SM TV shows apply to the site all the time when streaming. That is because F4F loves to record the shows and tube them so they don't want any copyright issues. If you have music playing, just check your feed to make sure it's not blasting super crazy and sounding annoyingly loud.

I use my cell phone personally. Some girls use their computers. As Prussia said, feed check yourself (or ask a friend) to make sure it isn't ridiculously loud or too low to hear, but otherwise have fun.
Fun fact--F4F is letting up on that rule. I had Katy check when she made me a daily pay account and I'm 100% allowed to use whatever damned music I want now. Yay, small victories! But I'm kinda over the site--so many freeloaders and it's a pain in the ass to keep my recorded shit off of tube sites. At least SM let's you 'opt out' between geo-block, contacting Liz, and just plain not doing gold shows!
Vanilla shows are apparently the least popular shows on C4S. That makes really good sense if you consider that all these tube sites have actually got millions of vanilla porn clips for free viewing. Fetish clips, on the other hand, are fairly rare on tube sites and thus are very popular on C4S. Therefore, turning your music off during vanilla shows makes no sense on several levels; one, you are more likely to be capped without copyrighted music playing in the background; two, you aren't going to make any money off resale on clip sites; and three, you're throwing your groove off by trying to turn music on/off constantly.
so after all your amazing advice, I've found that my upload speed is just not that good, and i only have an i5 instead of an i7. I also just tried to start up the encoder and got the blue screen of deatheven with everything on my computer off my stream is still choppy. Any more suggestions? Besides something that's going to cost a bunch of money?

Have you tried both versions of the encoder? There is 3.1 and 3.2 versions and usually one will work better for you than the other. You can also try alternative encoders like Open Broadcaster Software. There are other encoders as well: http://alternativeto.net/software/fl...-live-encoder/
Also doing a clean install of Windows and starting over will fix a lot of problems. The Windows 10 beta is free and it works great for streaming even on lower end computers.

Adding onto what Hyori said, I've also noticed that SM has been having technical issues for a ton of girls lately. I was seeing rooms where the audio/video stayed on the loading circle regardless of how long I waited/refreshed, constant freezing, audio/video sync issues, lag, etc., etc. and these were issues in rooms with girls I know have top notch equipment and internet.
Basically, now might not be the best litmus test of whether or not you have the upload to work SM. I personally worked the site on a 4 down/1 up speed (yes, yes, it's pathetic, I know) for almost a year while I was living in the middle of no where. Matter of fact, my speeds are only 64 down/4 up with my current provider (best speeds in the area and, yes, I realize how damned sad that is). I think SarahTime has also mentioned having lower speeds herself because of location and she still does quite well.
I only have 13/1 internet at the moment and also have a round trip of like 600-1000. I can say something leave my room and go and listen to what I said on another computer...haha.
Really posting to agree with Issabelle here, Streamate has had a lot of issues. Rooms not loading properly, I assume it is a flash issue particularly with Chrome (they hate each other!) if you find people complaining definitely find out what browser they use and tell them to try FF or IE11 (it's not actually terrible!). As for the computer:
What i5 processor is it?
How much RAM do you have?
Have you tried reinstalling Windows?
==============
As another point, anyone noticed a huge jump in non-english speaking traffic on SM lately or just me?
x

How do you send videos to customers on sm?

nvm lol I just googled that and found it on wikihow..... It's soo fucking complicated !!!! Lol

I use MediaFire.com, but they are not adult friendly... So I never label my videos with obvious key words. Ex PrussiaBJ01 instead of PrussiaBlowjob01. I've been using them for almost 2 years and I had my first account flagged about 4 months in, and since then using the new way of labelling it's been ok. I like MF because you can see how many times a clip has been downloaded, make a link private etc.
I know that Streamate has ProjectMaenad.com but I am too lazy to switch over.![]()

https://www.projectmaenad.com/
Sign up and make an account...it's free and super easy to use. You can even set individual links for every customer by name, and limit the amount of times they can download it and how many days they have to download it. I love it! I used to use mediafire but this is so much easier!

This might be a stupid/weird question. I'm fairly new and every time I do c2c with a customer on SM, the window that shows their cam is so tiny, I can barely tell what I'm seeing lol! Not that I'm dying to see what they look like and all... But I was reading the hilarious c2c stories on the TMI requests thread and I realized I must have something set up wrong? Their cam window pops up in the black box that usually reads "external encoding" since I use the encoder. As far as I know I wasn't able to enlarge it, maybe I'm wrong? I have a 27inch iMac, but the zoom button is kind of wonky on the broadcast page only (zooms in fine on my dashboard page.) any suggestions?

You can enlarge it, there is a small box over there, next to his sound, you just click it and is going to get bigger. (I don't even know how to explain) Just click that small box and will switch it from small to big. (IDIOT me!)
