I'm sorry for the owners loss. Hopefully insurance will cover the loss of their car.

I've had my car stolen. While I wouldn't wish death on someone for it, I also can see Sgt's point...if you're gonna steal cars and race them around at breakneck speeds, it's hard to have sympathy for them when they crash. I remember when my car was stolen...I was always looking for my car, hoping to see someone else driving it, so I could yank them out and beat their ass.
So, no, I wouldn't wish death on these idiots, but sympathy? I save that for people who truly deserve it, like kids who get incurable fatal diseases, or who are in car crashes through no fault of their own.

No, I am not saying I have sympathy for them, but for their families. Trust me, I get it. I have suffered a major loss, that I can basically do nothing about, while the person who dealt it to me, happily lives & works nearby.
I also worked closely w/someone who's child was seriously ill..airlifted on life support, & our manager was a major jerk to him.
EDT: Also, if you look at my post in this section, "Post exactly what's on your mind.." you'll see what I wrote about an imbecille that literally almost mowed me down as a pedestrian. Not only do I not have health insurance, I would have most certainly lost absolutely everything I own, most likely my life.

I'm sorry but why are you so upset about a bunch of criminals who died while committing a crime? your post makes absolutely no mention of the families, just the criminals.
"Well done. Here are the test results: You are a horrible person. I'm serious, that's what it says: 'A horrible person.' We weren't even testing for that."

It's unfortunate but a similar case happened back home where the young guys were doing a beer run (stealing beer from the minimart & zipping off into the night) they slammed into a water main for a huge business complex, same outcome as here.
imo sad but Darwin in action. I'd be angrier if they hurt innocent bystanders.
I don't care if they stole a Ferrari, there is no car on this planet worth three young lives.

I guess I saw it as: I was that age, did those things (not stole a car but drove @ hi speed)..I didn't mention it, but the boy who died was an only child..one of the last things his mom said to him: "don't stay out late with your friends". She also told him not to go out that night, but she fell asleep & he snuck out, which I've also done.
Yes they did a criminal act, I never said it was right..yes it also happens a lot, unfortunately.
Darwin? ok, then why do other people continue to get away with much worse..
It just made me think, I saw the headline when it first came out with very little info about it, at the time, gave me the chills & a weird feeling.
There's not a lot said about the stolen car aspect, possibly could be a family car/known person's? Aren't cars a lot harder to steal these days, still possible to do, I know..
Also, they didn't say initially, but drugs/acohol are possibly factored in also?
I guess also, I will think much harder about locking my car, I've had my handicapped placard stolen out of it, while going in & out unloading groceries, which angered me, (especially since the police refused to do anything about it) but this, I would personally feel terrible if this was my car, & I could have done more to secure it, which again, I know wouldn not be a guarantee it would get stolen, but at least I'd know I'd have done my best to prevent it!
Finally, if it offends anyone,
SORRY,
I don't like/agree with everything either!

Clearly a car is not worth a human life. Criminals are to be scorned, and if they die while in the midst of their criminal act; then atleast we are saved the expense of a trial.

It's not even the theft that makes me not care about their lives; it's that the idiots could have easily killed innocent people. If their "adventure" had to end with their deaths before a family in the other lane got killed, so be it. Less lowlifes in the gene pool.

I wanted to be the cool one for once, and stayed in the car.
I'm still paying dearly for it.
Wanted to add: The car wasn't stolen, and I wasn't driving, I just knew the driver - my cousin - wasn't very responsible and was distracted that night. I didn't want to kill a good time or make her feel bad about her driving abilities so I stayed in the passenger seat.
I wish I had hurt her feelings and walked away, because after the accident she was completely 100% fine. Me ..... not so much.
...
Sure hope anyone who thinks "they got what they deserved" can look back and say they never did anything stupid when they were young. Of course there are varying degrees of stupidity, and what they did endangered the lives of others, but they didn't deserve to die. People endanger the lives of others on a regular basis whether they realize it not, particularity behind the wheel. What those kids deserved was the shame of sitting in a courtroom, being scolded by a judge with their parents behind them and whatever consequences followed.
We all mistakes when we are young. I did a lot of things that could've resulted in my death, but thank the Lord, I got lucky and someone was watching out for me up above. Sometimes people at an early age do stupid shit and it results in something tragic, or even fatal. I feel sorry for them & their families, even if their actions were silly. Maybe in their next reincarnations, they'll be in auto insurance sales.

Instead of slamming into a tree, they could have veered into oncoming traffic, and slammed into an SUV killing a family of five including an infant child and gotten away with injuries that would have healed...eventually, but with thier lives. That happened when some kids went on a joy ride under the influence here a couple of years ago...not sure which is worse really, being dead or having the death of an entire family on your conscience.
Its one thing to do something that can potentially cause self harm, another thing entirely to do something, such as reckless driving, that can potentially harm completely innocent people. I lost my father due to a drunk driver who was driving recklessly...but he got to back up and drive away scot free while my dad died before he got to the emergency room. Personally speaking, I feel more sorry for the loss of his life as he was in the wrong place at the right time, and those he left behind, including my self-pitying self, than I would have for that drunk driver's family...that guy chose to get behind the wheel. Who knows how many other people were harmed/killed/affected by this guy because he got to live another day?
As other said, I dont wish death on anyone, I dont will ill of anyone, but I do wish that people would think twice and be more responsible for their actions. Yes, some people do stupid things, and either grow out of it or learn from their mistakes, but doing something so stupid that could potentially cause death, even ones own, is the risk one takes. Dont want to live with or die by consequences? Dont do stupid stuff. Its that simple.

I can look back at my time as a Soldier and a Military Policeman and say I have done alot to reduce the risk for others. So I am confident in what I say is how I feel because I have risked it for others. Not some civics or ethics class with a need to an A to keep a scholarship for the GPA.
Those kids made their decisions, let them bear the results. Childhood is not forever.

While it's a shame that three young people died, the reality is they should have known right or wrong at that age. As for the idea of young people screwing up, sure I made a lot of mistakes but I knew never to steal. Now if it was just an instance of drunk driving I would feel a lot more sympathy, but then again I have little sympathy for drinking and driving.
Btw, stealing a car can lead to worse crimes. I had a classmate who stole another classmate's car. He got arrested but got probation. While on probation he raped and murdered a nun. He's in prison for life. It's very possible these kids were criminals in training and may have done worse then this.
