Default Plastic Surgery in Another Country

Did you or would you consider plastic surgery in another country?

I know when it comes to plastic surgery you should not be cheap...but not only is it cheaper, where do you think foreign girls go to get plastic surgery? It's not like they all come to the states therefore there are actually decent doctors out there...I think?

In vegas there's a melting pot of girls, from other countries. Some girls have gone to Columbia, and Brazil. Have you ever seen those beauty pageants in latin america on the spanish channel? Those girls are absolutely gorgeous!

least expensive plastic surgeries to be found by a fully qualified hospital / surgeon anywhere in the world is probably ...

... yes that's correct, under US $3000 for gel implants

How can this hospital get away with charging so little ?

    - Thailand law re malpractice lawsuits allows surgeons to avoid paying HUGE malpractice insurance premiums
    - Thai nurses, orderlies etc. are happy to accept pay rates that are FAR below US pay rates for similar skilled employees
    - Thai income taxes don't take a huge slice out of doctor / nurse salaries versus US income tax rates
    - Thai gov't health care does not 'shift' additional costs onto self-pay patients the way the US health care / insurance industry does

Advance booked round trip airfare from the US west coast to Thailand is somewhere around US $1,200 additional

I have friends who went to Malaga in Spain. It's a popular area for plastic surgery, so there are lots of clinics with great surgeons at competitive prices. My friend got fantastic boobs there!!!

I would definitely do it... either thailand or countries like Hungary and Belgium have awesome surgeons too. Some of the best surgery Ive seen has come from Hungary and Belgium. The only think stopping me is I am a massive baby and I wanna be home in my own bed to sulk with my puppyies cuddling me. But if you choose a good doc (and theres lots there) you will be fine. Just touch base with someone in the States who might be able to take you on if you do get any complications.

Alot..and by alot I would say about 95% of the girls here get their plastic surgery done in Thailand. The results are flawless, and you can expect to pay about half of what you would pay in the states. I've never encountered even one person who was upset with the work they had done in Thailand=)

I had a reply in another post. I was set to have surgery abroad and I didnt at the last minute. Turned into a huge nightmare and Im bound by contract not to mention it online but if you PM I can provide details. My best advice is do MAJOR research. Many of the doctors are top notch but sometimes if you're going to a country and there is a language barrier, doctors use a 3rd party company to handle planning etc. So that's what you have to watch out for.

Sigh... I know a girl (she's a member on this site) who went out of the country (I believe it was to Thailand) to get some work done. I don't want to totally out her & she's not on here much. Anyhow, the result was less than acceptable... she basically wasted $13K for nothing. This isn't something that she can just say "oh well, it didn't work" either, she's going to have to pay even more to get it fixed & it's something pretty major, more-so than a breast augmentation since it will effect her into senior years. The most important thing is to get a plastic surgeon who really is qualified, so check local board certifications, see if they are certified in multiple states/countries, research & talk to past patients etc. If something goes wrong with a doctor in the US you could sue, which you might be able to do in other countries, but chances are that it would be a bigger pain in the butt. Another one of my friends had emergency surgery in another country a few years ago & her biggest complaint was that she wasn't able to communicate with most of the hospital staff, so telling the nurse that she was in pain didn't do much good. I'd consider very carefully whether this might be a good choice for you.

If you feel like you will get better quality for the same price or less with a certain doctor (as well as his staff) outside the country, then by all means go for it! If you are simply trying to save money without regard to the quality of care, I wouldn't do it. Just remember how many horror stories we hear & make sure you really do your research! Get multiple referrals & SEARCH ONLINE FOR REVIEWS. If a patient wasn't happy with something the doctor isn't likely to give you that person's name for a referral, so you need to look for the un-happy customers yourself. If you find an un-happy customer consider if the you could live with what happened to them. In some instances bad reviews are simply a matter of people who are never happy. You could ask for photos though & judge for yourself if any "bad results" are actually apparent.

You might want to read this article, which I believe Zinadia's doctor is mention in as a reliable source:

    http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepu...cosurgery.html

Make sure that you are actually talking to the person who underwent surgery though, not relying on stories of "a friend of a friend went to Dr. XYZ who is awesome!". Also keep in mind that it's not just foreign countries that horror stories happen in, we get them in the US too when people think that they can try something that is abnormal or by someone who isn't really a professional:

lol where do you think everyone outside of the united states is getting their plastic surgery? they're getting their shit done in their home countries. and if you look at the resumes of doctors in the us, you will see that SO many annual plastic surgery conferences are held in south america and asia, because the united states is BEHIND when it comes to this shit.

all plastic surgery is a risk. i would much rather a colombian doctor cut into my face or body than a doctor in the united states.

I did my breast augmentation in Thailand using this Company called Evolutionary Visual Enhancement (e.v.e.). I am very happy with their professionalism and the staffs are friendly. I was really nervous but the staffs keep motivating me to hang in there. I felt really touched by this. After the ops, my first thought was whether the surgery was a success. Thank goodness it was and I did not have complications resulting from the surgery.

Now I feel so full of confidence with myself and feel pretty too. I paid only a fraction of what I would have paid to the local surgeon.

I tend to agree. American doctors also have a massive target population. People feel more comfortable at home so someone might be willing to go to a cheap doc in the US who is not even board certified. People should research the quals and experience of their doctor. Before and after photos are not the end all and be all... obviously every doc is going to put up quality pics on their website, not crappy ones so I would trust qualifications and experience more than anything else.

My PS didnt have the best before and afters (his website was slightly outdated) but he has current board certification for Australia, Canada and US and has been doing it since long before I was born and has been the president of the plastic surgery board in Australia. I dont think Australia is known for any special advances in PS but heres a great qualified surgeon. You can find them in any country. Smart and talented people live everywhere.

rhinoplasty is the most difficult surgery to perform. you are essentially taking a roulette gamble no matter what doctor you choose. look for a doctor who performs a lot, who seems to be on the same aesthetic page as you, and who doesn't spend most of the day posting videos on youtube and answering questions on realself.

but i am thinking of going to colombia next month. will let you know if i find a doc who can make me prettier =D

A couple of my columbian friends swear by plastic surgery in their country. They've gotten boob implants and butt injections (im skeptical of those) but they still look great after 4 years. If I do get it I will be accompanying my friends. Not going anywhere by myself, especially out of the US.

ask discreetly. be polite. remember that after you get surgery, people will want to know who your surgeon was, and think about how you would like to be asked. you probably would not want someone coming up to you and saying, "i know that nose isn't yours so name names." but you might feel differently if someone said, "hey do you know anyone who has had plastic surgery? i'm looking for a really good doctor...." that way, you don't need to ask her what procedures she had. she can recommend a doctor to you or she can not and either way, it's not "who did your titties?"

i sometimes get confused with being post-op trans, and it's no big deal because i'm always asked discreetly about who did my surgery and how it turned out so well. but i spend a lot of time in boys town.

i also find that if you mention wanting surgery, that begets better results of recommendations than if you are asking "who did your surgery because i know you've had a facelift" kind of thing.

there is a doctor in thailand whose name i don't have anymore but he was incredible and recommended to me by a bunch of post-op ladies and i was all ready to go to him until i realized how fucking long the flight to thailand is.

but thailand, brazil, colombia, argentina are all good countries to consider. and when you find the right doctor, you will know it!!

I contacted Dr. Hoyos again, last week, with updated pictures attached to my email. I had contacted him about 2 1/2 years ago for a quote on liposuction with fat transfer (to my ass). Back then, he had actually called my phone via Skype and spoke to me. He quoted me 5K for everything. Well, I just received an email back today from his assistant Olga. The new quote is 7K for everything. I also contacted Dr. Mendieta in Miami for the same procedure. If I'm not mistaken, Dr. Hoyos actually trained Dr. Mendieta, I think he told me that on the phone, or I read it somewhere, but I'm not 100% sure. Dr. Mendieta is like the KING of butts in Miami, and he quoted me 14K for the procedure, so exactly twice as much as Hoyos.

    Dr. Hoyos reply via email:

Hola Johana como estas? Muchas gracias por tu interes en los procedimientos del Dr Alfredo Hoyos
