Go to https://www.adultwork.com/Help.asp click any topic then close the pop up info window and it will open a feedback form where you can write to them. You may well get an auto response in return which makes little sense. Repeat the process and they'll eventually get back to you.
How does this affect consumers of services distributed by the AdultWork.com Platform?
As of Thursday 1 October 2015, VAT will be applied to digital products and e-services that members offering services sell to any customers whom consume their services within the EU, via the AdultWork.com Platform. The rate of VAT charged will vary depending on where in the EU the service is consumed from.
The services include, but are not limited to, the following:
Private Galleries, Webcam Bookings, Phone Chat Bookings, DirectCam, DirectIM, DirectChat, Movie Clips, Rental Movies and Erotica.
Why is it up to the AdultWork.com Platform to apply the correct VAT rates and collect the VAT on behalf of its members?
Under current legislation the AdultWork.com Platform is deemed to be a Portal through which third parties sell their digital products and e-services to end consumers. As much as it might seem desirable to avoid the responsibility, the Platform does not meet the mitigating criteria that would exempt it. If the Platform did meet the mitigating criteria, the burden of responsibility would actually be incumbent on each individual member. Each would be required to register for VAT MOSS (VAT Mini One Stop Shop) and to meet necessary compliance criteria and associated increased administration costs. We feel this is unrealistic for each AdultWork.com member and as has always been the objective of AdultWork.com, the Platform should provide the tools to allow individuals and businesses to conduct their online businesses with ease and simplified administration - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The benefit therefore is that for the majority1 of members there will be no need to register for VAT, submit quarterly reports or manage the handling of funds that would ultimately need to be sent elsewhere. This major upgrade to the AdultWork.com Platform removes these burdens from its members whilst allowing them to remain compliant.
How does this affect those whom receive AdultWork.com Platform's own services?
As a provider of e-services itself, to you its customers the Platform has to charge VAT in accordance with current EU law for the e-services that it supplies.
What about things paid for in advance, are recurring or pay later?
Things that have been paid for in advance, e.g. Featuring or Available Today have already been charged. The transactions are completed.
What does that mean? I just logged in and this popped up
In the interests of safeguarding your business the price of recurring items such as 'Phone Number Display' and pay later items such as 'Local Escorts' will change automatically to include VAT. If your country of consumption has been determined these charges will be applied automatically on the usual recurring basis or dates you have specified. If you are dissatisfied with this arrangement or the VAT-inclusive prices please visit your Edit Profile Page, Local Escorts Page or the relevant subscription page (Detailed Emails, Telephone Directory or Logged in Search) and make the necessary changes.
Why now?
The ownership of the AdultWork.com Platform has changed and this statement is fact and defines the AdultWork.com Platform position going forward from Thursday 1 October 2015.

^^^Sounds like another nail in the coffin. And I will post this here because it pertains to my business on the Adultwork platform. This is taking place in just a few days so that is a little shocking. Ownership has changed? What other changes are they implementing I wonder? I saw this when I logged in just now. And I came here to see if anyone was talking about it yet. I feel like they told me a whole lot but yet they told me nothing? Please can someone tell me what the current vat tax in the UK is?

I wonder if this means we are out another 20% tomorrow!

I think so! I'm scared now lol

I just read about this and have emailed them straight away. As sole traders WE are responsible for VAT, no one else. And we do not have to register for or pay VAT unless we expect to earn over £82,000 in that year. I don't know about you but i don't earn that much. And either way how could AW possibly ascertain who does and who doesn't? Regardless if they could or not the fact still remains they cannot charge for vat 'on our behalf'. Either they are confused (which I am hoping, and hence my email), or they are trying to get around paying VAT on their OWN incomings, by charging OUR customers extra!

And all of a sudden too! That's terrible. I didn't see that one coming at all. Im gonna double my prices now.

I already charge £1 more than i absolutely need to but why should I take a massive cut in income just because they've decided to fuck us over? It has to be fucking us over because they don't need to put this on us at all. We're not responsible for paying VAT as i said above until we earn over 82k. it's just a way for them to recoup their costs. I've tweeted them now as well and asked DP admin if he knows anything. Going to sleep now and praying it's all blown over by morning :-/
I think what is going to happen is that they are going to charge clients VAT based on their IP address when they buy credits. Also, I think we will also be charged VAT for things like featuring and subscriptions based on our locations. Either way it means that basically all of our services has just gone up by 20% virtually over night!
If they are using a IP address type of location VAT charge, I hope all the AW guys will be able to use a US based VPN to login into the site in order to avoid the VAT charges. However, if AW is basing the VAT on some thing else there may be no way around it unless they use a US based prepaid debit card.
I don't think they will be subtracting the VAT from our pay as the VAT will be based on the EU country of the consumer and that would be extremely complicated.
I take this to mean AW will add VAT to the services they provide US. So a simple way to look at it is the fees they charge us will increase.

At first I thought they will charge customers VAT like SM does. But I just spoke with one of my aw regs and he didn`t get the message we got.So it looks like providers will be charged.
Will they be told though? Or will AW just put the prices up and not inform the members.
I just logged in and saw the message. Do we have any more info yet? Panicking a little

I just assumed VAT would be charged on top of the cost of credits? Then same for us - anything we spend our credits on we pay vat now.
Doesn't make sense to take it from our cut. As a non EU resident I don't have any sort of year VAT threshold to be concerned about, so why would it come from my cut?
if they are adding it on to credits then why inform us and not the customers?
and some info on the changes that will happen with new owners would be nice

That`s what I thought too like 1 credit will now cost them 1,20.But if that was the case customers would have been informed I think.Instead they only messaged performers.
ETA:If anyone is on cam now you could ask your regs if they got the message ,my reg didn`t so I assume none of the customers was sent that message.I can`t cam today so I can`t ask anyone else.

AW will charge VAT on the services they provide...we pay an admin charge for using their platform and for featuring, using directcam etc. I don't think the customers will have to pay VAT as we pay the usage costs.
We would need to charge VAT for our services (credits are the price we charge for our services, they are not AW's) if we earn more than £82,000 a year.
