RE- Internet Drop-outs
A few years back I was getting lots of drop-outs.
It took about eight open reach visits to get the issue fixed.
Some times it be very difficult to diagnose where the problem is coming from & my internet provider knew there was an issue but Open Reach kept saying there wasn't. In the end it turned out to be a line fault and my IP kept putting the job through as a Broadband fault - Any way the problem was water getting into the copper wiring.
If your phone wiring is above ground a bird sitting on it can cause a drop out. It can so man different things & the CEO office told me that - I had to complain there to get my issue fixed in the end & they were the least knowledgeable of the lot!
If you get a lot of drop out - its worth asking your provider to take the interleaving of ( I think its called) too many drop outs causes your provider to automatically cap your speed to stabilise your connection.
It really took ages to get mine fixed but it was worth it because my internet is brilliantly stable now but I do still get the occasional drop.
The faults on my line had been there for years & my first provider was Virgin & they refused point blank to send Open Reach out to fix my problem. They just said its down to where you live why its crap & just reduced my bill. My Dad is with Virgin & he rates them highly but I'd never go with them again. It was Talk Talk who got my issue fixed & they never give up trying to get Open Reach to fix it.
I think for a lot of you - you've got an un- diagnosed fault on your line - Possibly water getting into the network some where.
I even had my crimps changed - they are the plastic connectors that connect the wire coming from the street onto your property. Mine was all like corroded the engineer said.
