    Lightbulb Newbie, Age Help?

    Hello everyone,

I am brand new to this site..

I had some newbie questions..so hopefully I am doing this in the right thread.
I live in NYC and would like to audition at many clubs here (Flashdancers, Ricks, ect.)

    The only problem??

I am 18..I read that strip clubs in NYC no longer hire anyone younger than 21? Is this true? I called Rick's Cabaret yesterday and spoke to a guy who told me to come in and audition anyways, but that they probably would not hire me. I turrn 19 in one month..
If I do go in for an audition, what would be the best way to show the manager I am mature enough to dance at the club? I.E. what should I wear, how should I speak to him..
Also, I have never pole danced..am I going to need to do this at an audition? I know dancing is highly competitive in NYC and I don't have much training. I can dance well and seductively without a pole, but do you think they will ask me to try anyways?

    Thank You

    -Newbiw

I've been to a few NYC clubs as a customer and not once did I see a dancer do a pole trick. The guys don't even really tip at the stage in NYC, so why put in all that effort? You definitely won't need to do pole tricks to get hired.
The age thing is a liability, so yeah, most clubs that serve alcohol (Penthouse, Hustler, Sapphire etc) won't hire you. They have a billion girls knocking down their door who are 21 and over, so they won't risk hiring a minor. But if Rick's said to show up anyway, you might as well! Just go in looking mature and well-dressed (nice skirt, top, heels) but nothing skanky.
Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans

Your outfit doesn't matter TOO too much - like don't show up like you're about to work there, but they're not going to not hire you because they don't like your skirt. If a club serves alcohol, they likely won't hire you if you're under 21 regardless of how mature you are because it's a legal liability for them. In the US, I believe you could work in nude bars since they don't serve alcohol, so that could be worth looking into. Otherwise, keep calling clubs you want to work at to find out their policy.

Pole tricks are totally not needed, don't worry!

If you can't work in Manhattan, you can always work in one of the other boroughs. Most everywhere in Queens and the Bronx are 18 and over.

My vote is no.... you won't get hired under 21.

Don't waste your time. If you are 18 you won't be hired at Ricks. Try at nude if u wish so.
