    Default Back to Blonde

    Here's the jist:
    I'm getting my hair colored tomorrow by a salon.
    I'm a born blonde who has been dying her hair w/ box color literally every shade of red out there since college {so like 8yrs!}.
    I finally got bored of red and had my SO pick a color, which was dark brown.
    Hate it. Bland as hell.
    Now its 3 months later, cause i figure it would be to much damage to color too soon & I want to go blonde.
    I have two worries i would love insight on please....

    1) The damage.
    Could a salon turn my hair blonde in one sitting? Or will it take multiple?
    I've done this "going back to blonde" once about 4yrs ago. It took a long time {pull color out, bleach, dye...} and the lightest she got it was redish blonde. Mind you she wasn't use to doing such work on hair. But this brings 2nd worry....

    2) Red hue. My hair has a natural red hue thanks to my dad's genetics. I generally love it but I was told that my hair would have a hard time going really blonde cause of this. Is that true???
    If so, i might settle for a "natural redhead" color.

    Thank you kindly loves!

    Well, i guess there is no life in these hills.... oh well.
    I went and picked it out from their color book.

    I would LOVE to do a bright almost platinum blonde but its unrealistic and there is no sense in fighting my natural hue.
    So starting 12:30 tomorrow my hair will be transformed into....

    A natural red head.

    I know, your just as excited as i am...i can tell!

    Even red-heads can go blonde if they want to... but that color you picked in your second post is lovely.

    I think the picture in your second post is actually a better look than blonde on you. It will look wonderful. I've been doing the dark red thing forever and recently went dark brown. My SO loves it but I want to try blonde too (so I certainly feel your pain on the blandness of brown!)

    @Devus.
    I imagine it CAN be done. But for the sake of not having my hair fall out or do some serious damage i chose to go that red. Its light enough to start with and then after THAT fades i'll jump in again aim for blonde. Baby steps!
    And thank you!
    My dad is a red head so its in my genes. I have the ivory skin, freckles and burn not tan ability to prove it. lol.

    @Arianna419
    Thank you! Yeah, i've done every spectrum of red box dye out there. From brown reds to bright reds. But never "natural". Since my SO hated my red hair apparently. I had him pick out the box this time around and he went right for generic "dark brown". Most likely cause of his infatuation with Summer Glau. Plus his best friend has the hots for red heads and there is already enough "chemistry" between us as it is. He just wanted me to look "average" so no one else would look at me in that way. HA! I hated it. I look so plain and simple. Red was way more "me" and i always felt sexy in it. So needless to say i'm excited.

    I'll probably post pics tomorrow when its all done.

    Cool. I like the 2nd pic as well, looks like a strawberry-ish type blonde?. Your hair actually looks pretty healthy.
    Good luck!

    It will probably take a few processes,which is extremely damaging.But I would think you could probably do highlights and repeat them every couple of months or so untill gradual lightening.I would definitely go to a very good salon.Bleach is very bad for hair and platinum is best for lighter natural colors like dark or med blonde.Even though you're light naturally,you have dark over it now,which will be tough to get out.

    I've been very very light blonde most of my life with ash blonde natural,so it was easy to lift,even without any bleach.But when after trying to go dark,which looked terrible,going back to light was a long process.My hair is very fine (baby fine) by texture,so bleach will cause it to break off at the root.

    So,that was my experience.But...good luck to you and post pics!
    Also,a question about going red (I'm not,but just curious).Is it really tough to maintain it?Do you have to put semi-permanent on it besides touch ups to keep the color bright?Heard it can be a lot of work.Men seem to love it too!

    I've heard different stories about "going red".
    I always thought it faded faster and required more sensitive shampooing and such. BUT my hairstylist said it actually lasts longer and holds on longer then any color. I honestly think it depends on your hair. Like it lasts a really long time on me for reason, perhaps it my red-head genetics. lol.

    I just use red only specific shampoos and a "touch up" every 3-4 months. So i would say no more maintenance then bright blondes.

    The girl who did my hair just basically dyed it how i would normally dye from a box. I'm sure the ingredients were better and she did an awesome job conditioning it. Its not as bright as i thought it would be but it looks amazing. Totally natural on me. Now i got to revamp my makeup style again.

    {New pictures to come soon....this damn laptop had no camera card reader! AH!}
