    Sad webcamming from hotels

So last nite was supposed to be my first night camming on sm, however since i still live at home i have to cam from hotels. basically last nite was a huge waste of my money, the hotel internet as shitty, an sm wasn't working for me i had to keep logging in an on top of that i kept getting disconnected, it took forever to download the encoder then once i finally got, someone in guest chat told me my picture quality was blurry an i wasn't sure how to fix it...it was horrible, i felt like such an idiot...i looked so good an made 0 money. now i dont know what to do because beforehand i promoted promoted promoted( and it worked).and also people want to buy shows frm me directly but im new an havent gone indy yet nor do i have enough experience i thought. but im unemployed and need money fast. do i need to buy a internet webconnect from tmobile? should i be going to a more expensive hotel with better internet? i have a feeling i could be making more money if i do indy on top of sm because since ive been promoting ive gotten lots of requests for shows but it ... im in northern nj if anyone knows of any motels/hotels with good internet.I don't have a blog/website created, could i still sell shows an just create an account thru a payment processor for them to pay me? HELP!!!!!

If you remove your mic (Minnie has done this her whole time camming), that may give you more discretion at home to cam.

Hotels are tricky - not just for internet but also for lighting. I'm traveling so am doing the same. One strategy that helps is to ask to be on a lower floor if its a HUGE hotel so your closer to the wireless router that they're using, also bring a DSL cable (is that what it is called?) as some hotel rooms still have that capability...which makes internet more stable.

Hotels are a great way to shoot content if your internet dies - and you're not wasting your investment. The layout is prettier and you have ample time to do whatever you want. I recently asked hotel staff for two extra lamps and they provided it (?! didn't even ask, I was planning to say something about my vision or something but wasn't necessary). So don't hesitate to call the front desk... especially to ask about internet reception

I would suggest a plug in internet. I wouldn't want to depend on the hotel. I got the cricket plug in internet and for $50 a month it works well but you'd have to check the area map first. I took it to Vegas and was able to cam with no problems.

    Roast, that's an Ethernet cable.

Also, if you live in an area with Sprint coverage, perhaps you should try to get a phone with a 4G data plan, I've heard that they don't have a data cap and that you can pretty much use the phne and the 4G connection with a laptop or whatever.

Why don't you rent a place? Even just a room in a house, especially if you live near a college/university. I'm not sure how much hotels are but renting a room would be cheaper than a hotel if you cam over probably 4-5 times a month.

yea KG ur totally rite i am going to start looking for rooms for rent because it certainly makes more sense then going to hotels all the time carrying arounnd all my shit(makeup, wigs, lingerie, oil etc.) if i rent a room i can designate my cam space and i can go whenever i want to cam an not have to worry about paying EACH time i go.. but then what about my reliable internet source im afraid to rely on whatever internet that may be available at the room, should i still have get my own wireless usb modem??

What Internet service provider do you have for the wireless internet? Also, some guys allow you to get your own internet connection for the room, then again, you have to consider how much you'll spend on rent and the connection (usually around $80 dollars for a decent service).

well at my house we have clear internet services and the connection is great. they offer usb modems which provide wireless internet connection from anywhere all you have to do is stick it into ur laptop or i can get a webconnect from tmobile(my phone carrier) but i believe they have a internet usage limit so ill probably go with clear internet.

Your best bet would be to use Clear, what package do you have?

I don't think they'd check if you're in and out all the time unless the landlord lives on the property. As long as your rent check clears, they don't really care.

If you need an excuse, you could tell them you're a writer or an artist and you need a quiet place to work away from your family for a few months, or just make up a job and say you travel a lot - which would explain why you only need the place for a few months, and why you'd be in and out.

I don't know, I haven't been approved for SM yet, you'd be more lucky if you ask someone else.

I'm a few week away from doing a girl-girl show in Dallas with another girl from MFC, and that is our biggest worry, how can we be sure that the hotel we get into will have good enough speeds. It's frustrating.

Maybe these prepaid USB plug in modem options could help.

    http://www.virginmobileusa.com/mobil...adband2go.html
    https://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/...ucts_prepaidmb

I have the verizon one and my speed was good enough to cam normally and without any problems when I was spending time on the west coast. I don't remember the data plan I had. I think at the time they had different options and I was on a 3gig data plan.

You'd have to buy the USB modem of course, but there would be no contract on the plans. I can't find my modem at the moment, else I'd say the model. That particular one doesn't seem to be available on the site anymore anyway. They're around 75 bucks I think.

I hope you get your situation worked out.

Oh, and as a tip be sure to test the connection quality/speed in the hotel lobby before paying for your room (even if the city is listed as a coverage area) because different locations make a world of difference. If it works in the lobby and then not in your room, politely ask to be switched to a different room perhaps on the other side of the building or a different floor. But at least if it works well in the lobby, it's likely to work somewhere in that particular hotel.
