Dizzy Whats too Big To dance

I am about 140 lbs a very and its all muscle. I have muscular legs and arms because I have an athletic build and Im short.I do many pole tricks that require the muscle I have. I have a pooch im losing. I have worked at two of the best clubs in my town. A new house mom at big als told me I was to big. I know Im not tall, but Im not fat. cause Im short I have the issues. Its beIt hurts that others see me that way. I made money when I danced. I just have bigger hips and upper arms. What do u think is to big? Will I ever make it as a dancer being this way?

The way you describe yourself is confusing. muscular with a pooch??? If you can, post pictures, without your face, so we can see your body and get an accurate idea.

You can definitely still make money, but if you want to make optimal money, losing weight is always a good option. I'm going through this right now. I like my body, but thinner = more $$, so I am going to try to lose about 8 pounds and try again.

Have you been fired from the club because of your weight? And where do you live?

You'll definitely be able to dance and make money, you just may not be hired at the 'top' clubs. Top clubs can be super picky about girls' weight, tats, and even hair color. Find a club where you fit well, and if you still want to go back to the top clubs, focus on looking more like the dancers at those clubs.

I used to be a dancer in top club in Dallas and was one of the top girls there, I got pregnant and stopped working. After I had the baby I tried to come back to work at the same club, but since I put on a lot of weight with my pregnancy they didn't accept me back. I felt so bad and humiliated but I knew it was about me to make the change. That just gave me motivation to lose the weight. 3 months later after a lot of exercise and diet I was hot as hell and was hired on the spot.
I hope that helped you somehow. Being thin is not required to be a dancer but make sure you look your best
The better you look the higher are your chances to be successful in this business.

    Good luck girl

It depends on where you're at...in Colorado a skeleton is too big to work at most clubs..asking "Am I too big?" is a very subjective answer.

In general top tier clubs are anal about the above mentioned factors. You can probably go to a mid tier to dive and be fine.

At my club you would be considered borderline, but if you were very polished and had a pretty face would be accepted. You would however, be encouraged to lose weight- especially if you weren't producing.

You can be more muscular than average and still make money... but if you want to do well as a dancer, you should definitely lose some fat.
I don't mean that to be rude... but being told you're too big is someone politely trying to tell you that you're too fat... not that you're too muscular. If you're being told that you're too big to work at clubs in your area... you should probably lose weight if you hope to do well in your area.

Don't let it hurt your feelings that someone else doesn't like your body. If you like it, good for you... but remember that strippers are typically held to higher physical standards than the average woman. So a weight that you might think looks good on you... might not be 'up to standard' for some club owners.

girl, I look like you (if not a bit curvier!) and I got hired places. They are not The Men's Club or St. James but they were still doable. Just keep working at it. We all carry our weight in unattractive places. I carry it all in my arms and stomach, but my thighs and butt and grown and filled out...but it looks pretty. Either way though, don't worry about it too much. It is nothing that diet and exercise can't fix.

Dont feel too bad. AT my two main clubs I am one of the most attractive dancers and I weigh 132 and I am 5'4". I do work out and I have a tiny bit of a stomach, I am definitely definitely not perfect. One club in this area requires u to weigh about 110/115 and they would not hire me. Even after the owner and manager asked me to come audition. But one of them also asked me to hang out with him which I politely declined...Hmm I wonder y I didnt get the job. ANd to add I did see a couple girls who were curvy..but hey maybe they slept with someone to get their jobs...I say work out like the previous posters said and try to take it in stride and remember ur worth. I really dont feel like starving myself to fit into their skeleton requirements. I prolly would hate it there anyways.

OP don't take it personally. I was generally smaller than you and taller and I stillgot rejected for not being tiny. Some clubs want small. I would try more midlevel to even dives because you'll find more variety there.

if you really want to work at that club ask if you can have a one night audition. if you can sell champagne rooms and dances they'll hire you. most clubs just want money nowadays. the best way to get a manager to change their mind about you is to be a good hustler.

LOL. Some clubs DO still have standards... but it's like... they used to have REALLY high standards... so even with a drop in standards... they're still high.

You say you have worked at clubs in the past and made money, so if you like your body as is and feel uncomfortable conforming to a certain club's standards go back to your old clubs.

However, as you soilicited opinions, yes I do feel that you should lose weight.

    1. That is not all muscle.

    2. There are clubs that will let anyone who pays the house fee dance.

    Example: Wesley's boobie trap....(shudders)

LOL true that, I'm sorry jayslittlekitten22,no offence, but be realistic! I'm also curvy, and do have a lot of muscle BUT NOT ALL MUSCLE! You are not athletic as well and neither am I. To call yourself athletic and all muscle you need to be at least at a 14% body fat rate so then you could show a muscular and athletic figure! I know what I'm saying cause I've gonne thru this.

you seem to be an apple shape which means you have to work harder to look leaner on top of being shorter. Also, we all know everyone has different opinions on what certain adjectives mean. Muscular is a universal "i can SEE definition EVERYWHERE without a soft layer on top".

Being able to do tricks, you're def "strong" then to support your frame. That's a good thing, means diet and weights will help you fairly quickly.
