    Default Another Makeup Question (concealer)

So, I really, really need to buy a concealer, but keep holding off because I read that Cle de peau is the best one out there (but it's like $75!) I know I could look at reviews on Sephora, etc., but from a dancers perspective, what do you use that you love? I appreciate your help!

Worth it, as is their clarifying serum. fucking thing makes my makeup and skin flawless. Trust me, a good friend that is a Nieman's Bobbi Brown consultant gives me free shit every week and that clarifying serum is the crack that makes me go back. BTW bobbi's reg stick foundation buildt up is a FAB concealer, just get matched by a pro.

The undereye concealer I use for work is MAC studio-sculpt. The price ($16.50) is great and it covers very well. I wouldn't use it on my face though because MAC tends to break me out. Works wonders under the eyes though.

For the face I like Laura Mercier secret camouflage. It's $35, but you get a lot of product and two different shades to mix around for perfect coverage. I use this around the nostrils, mouth, and over blemishes.

You're talking about BB products, not Cle de Peu (just want YO make sure we're talking about the same thing & Cle de Peu isn't owned by BB or something like that (forgive me...it's early and I'm not quite awake yet!)

Can I ask what's so great about the Cle de Peau clarifying serum? Why do you like it so much under the eyes? I have slight milia and subtle fine lines I would like to minimize....

Back to concealer.... honestly I tried Cle de Peau, and I wasn't a huge fan. It's super thick and tacky, very similar to BB foundation stick, but even thicker, almost like silly putty. I felt like it sat on top of my skin too much, it wasn't moisturizing enough, so it just had that rough, makeup-y look, didn't look natural, especially under the eyes. I ended up returning it.

A few under eye concealers that I've tried and have loved....

Benefit Erase Paste - also a thicker, heavier, creamier consistency, but not too thick, more moisturizing, and VERY brightening! It has that illuminating salmon-ish pink tint, which is perfect for hiding black/blue. I usually hate Benefit products, but this one is really nice. I have yellow/olive tones in my skin, so if you are a fair/pink or beige toned girl, you may not like it as much.

Givenchy Mister Light - comes in a pen, you click one end and the product comes out on a brush. Very light, thin consistency, with AMAZING coverage. You would never think looking at it on your finger that a product that thin and light covers like it does. Also, it totally melts into your skin and looks natural. It seems a little bit on the drier side so once it dries, there's no oils or sliding around on your face, settling into lines, etc. It is also brightening, but in a subtle way. No pearly or pink illuminating pigments, I don't know how it is so brightening, but it is. If you like that bright, lighter under eye look, this is perfect. It was almost too much coverage and lightening/brightening/highlighting look under my eyes for what I usually prefer. This is the best natural coverage for dark circles that I have ever found in an under eye concealer, and it really looks like your under eye area is radiating light.

YSL Touche Eclat - My HG under eye product. I always end up going back to this one. It comes in a pen, where you click one end and the product comes out on a brush, just like the Givenchy Mister Light. I use the number 3, and that peach color is soooo perfect for me. The actual coverage is no where near as good as Givenchy or Erase Paste, but I haven't found this peach color in any other line, and it looks so natural on my skin. It is brightening also, not as much as Givenchy, but in that same subtle way, where as the Erase Paste is a little more unnaturally brightening in a pearly/pink way (some people love this look though). The YSL is equally thin as the Givenchy, but a little creamier and seems to have more oils in it. Honestly, if Givenchy were to come out with that peach color, and mimic the consistency closer to this one, I would never go back to YSL.

Can you tell I love cosmetics? LOL.....

I haven't used concealer on my face is so many years because with the right foundation and somewhat decent skin, I feel like there is no need. Unless you have major scarring or acne, face concealer is unnecessary IMHO. And that Illamasqua foundation is the BEST for heavy duty major coverage. I've posted all about it before, your skin will look like a mannequin, that stuff covers EVERYTHING!

Thank you....really great feedback from everyone!

I used to use the YSL too, but it too is spendy (and I tend to blow through that stuff!) I use YSL foundation, which I adore, but I am almost out, but I'd be willing to try the
Illamasqua foundation. Your enthusiasm is very compelling!!
