Default Started working out, problem with abs

I went about seven years without exercising at all until I started taking hot yoga classes that focus on the core four times a week over the last month. I was already at a weight I was comfortable with so I decided to do it for general health/toning rather than weight loss. I love the changes in my body so far except for my abs, which seem to just push my stomach out. I guess this means I should lose weight now. Any tips on how to make this look better in the short term though? I'm guessing that I should avoid large meals and cut out salt, but I'm a newb so I'm sure there's something I didn't think about. I think another problem could be that I'm taking core classes. Should I switch it up with power classes to take the focus away from my abs even if it means it feels like less of a workout?

A girl from work was talking about how working out be it hot yoga or whatever pushes the cellulite to the surface more. The same thing happens to my stomach. I continue to workout and up water consumption and watch my diet when things get out of control. I am not a fitness expert but I suppose tightening down on ur diet would be a good place to start. I have done the hot yoga classes but Im not sure what to tell u about the power classes..it wouldnt hurt to try..

Are you sucking in your ab muscles when you do the workout? If you don't, your muscles will indeed grow "out" because you're pushing them out..you really have to make sure you're contracting your abs at all times during exercise.
Also, hot yoga is great, but it won't burn fat. Only cardio can do that. Even if you don't need to lose weight, the cardio will burn the fat while the core/strength/yoga will build the muscle-so you won't lose much weight if at all, but look smaller and tighter.
Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans

^exactly what she said. I'm trying to fix the SAME issue because, like a dumb ass, I didnt realize I could build my stomach muscles outward by accident. Recently I've been really focusing on pulling my belly button inward while doing yoga and pilates.

Abdominals will swell after they are worked, which causes any fat on your stomach to protrude. It looks awful for a few days after the workout, but after awhile, you'll notice the difference. Weight lifting doesn't burn fat, but the fat can sometimes redistribute itself. Yoga, however, causes both muscle gain and fat loss. Keep with it, you'll start to notice a difference after awhile. Actually, I've got a great book of yoga routines...call me, we can meet up and I'll show it to you.

It's definitely all about your diet. You have to eat clean - you can eat a lot, just clean. Eat a lot of lean protein, and don't eat a lot of sugar and too rich foods (no fried foods!) Those type of foods don't agree with my taste buds anyways ( i think it tastes bad) so I stay away from it and I have abs.
