Anyone tried this stuff? A friend of mine gave me a whole bottle of them and I am going to try it. Since I don't want to eat as much as I need to with the kind of workout I do, I need all the help I can get.

many athletes use creatine to build and mostly maintain muscle mass.
As a tennis player I used to use the powder form after 3hr intense sessions on court but no more than 2 times a wk as weight gain really happens with this stuff. the effect isn't nearly as pronounced in men, my ex/instructor used it and combined with weights/5x wk 2-3hr sessions and his naturally muscular frame REALLY buffed out. I mean talk about a back spreading! lol I loved it for him and me.
YMMV. It's supplement not a protein meal replacement.

Don't go overboard it'll mess up your kidneys.
The main thing that creatine does is provide your muscles with more short term energy. It also super hydrates your muscles and improves protein synthesis.

Thanks for the replies. It seems to be working pretty well, but maybe some of it is the placebo effect, I don't know. I have already gained back half of what I lost.
One question. On the jar it says to take 2 pills for an intense workout (mine definitely is), then one pill on your off days. Is it worthwhile to take that pill on the off days, or are they just trying to sell more of the shit?

Are you a member of a bodybuilding forum?
My boyfriend used it and liked it.

No, I don't really have the body type or inclination to be a body builder.
Plus I have never been able to bulk up quickly, or all that much, no matter how intense the workouts have been in the past.
Handstand pushups, chinups, hitting the bag, a few other things--these will put the weight on as much as anything else I've tried, if I just eat enough and keep at it. About two months ago I let stress get to me, stopped working out and stopped eating as happens to me quite easily, and lost some weight which was annoying.
I am definitely noticing an effect from just a few workouts with the creatine though! Already more than half the weight back, great workouts too.

Creatine is fine. Make sure you drink a lot of water and depending on the kind of creatine you might have to cycle off. I suggest reading on this: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/likness2.htm
As far as maintain and putting on weight. Track your calories and make sure you're eating enough. Also consider doing more compound lifting (Heavy squads!!!)
That link also has a forum, which has a women's training and nutrition selections that provides great info.

Just remember to drink alot of water...

Creatine is amazing and results will show quickly because your muscles both increase in size and retain water to give a larger look. Creatine is great for bulking up, which is exactly why I had to stop taking it. Also, it's naturally created in the body so people don't feel uncomfortable supplementing with it as they might with a synthetic hormone or steroid. Bottom line, works great!
PS: It's not just for bulking, it actually improves performace too. In the gym I mean. Ha ha. Check out this link for more info as there are many types of creatine:

I think excess creatine is banned in pro sports/drug tests - but like you say, it really does work!
