"It seems cocaine has been behind a rash of flesh-eating disease outbreaks in Los Angeles and New York. Cocaine cut with the veterinary drug levamisole has apparently been linked to a number of cases of rotting flesh, according to Good Morning America."
This story reminds me of the tainted pot scare in the late '70s, when a controversial program sponsored by the US government sprayed paraquat on South American pot fields. "Perhaps in an attempt to deter people from using marijuana, representatives of the program warned that spraying rendered the crop unsafe to smoke." Subsequent research indicated no ill effects from smoking weed from sprayed fields.
While I don't do partake these days--more for financial than health reasons--this report would make me think twice about doing a line at a party. Sigh. Another of life's illicit pleasures gone.![]()
